Zambia not a threat, We are already in Russia – Leon Balogun

Super Eagles Germany based defender, Leon Balogun, has dismissed the as mere boasting, warnings from the Chipolopolo of Zambia that they will be in Uyo to pick the available three points over the Super Eagles, and open the Africa group B qualifying of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Balogun, who plays for Mainz 05 in the Germany Bundels Liga urged Nigerians to disregard the mind games of the Chipolopolo Coach, insisting that the Eagles are Russia bound.

The defender, who won the heart of Uyo fans as he was arguably one of the Eagles stand-out players in the double header against Cameroon this month, has made eight appearances for the Super Eagles since he made his debut in 2014.

Zambia having beaten Algeria home and away in the last round of qualifiers have boasted that their new youthful team will beat the Super Eagles on October 7 in Uyo to leave the group qualifying ticket open.

The Chipolopolo have reportedly concluded plans to train in Ghana for the game with the FAZ president, Andrew Kamanga, revealing that the former African champions would also camp in Spain.

However the Mainz 05 defender has said that there is no cause for alarm as the Eagles are well aware of the task ahead.

“We are unbeaten so far in the World Cup qualifiers. The way we presented ourselves as a team so far, I think there is no need for one not to be confident.

“I don’t say it’s not possible that we lose, but I want to win and I think the whole team want to win and everybody wants to go to Russia and what better way to qualify than to do it in front of your fans. So let’s all just be confident.”

Thats a fantastic performance from eagles. I watched the highlights of the goals and frankly, Nigeria is talented. NO, Blessed with abundance of talents. That free kick went up in the air like a UFO. And the 2nd goal was just breath taking. Kudos to the dudes.

I am hoping they get things goin well against CHAN in 2018. Ghana next abi? Whats up with the bitterness of Ghanaians towards Nigeria lately? Is it the patenting of jollof rice or is there something else? Anyway sha, we are brothers and so shall it always be

ignore that line up
that is the way sport journalists do
they neglect the established player in a team for a new signing
same thing about Alonso when there was speculations about Sandro joining Chelsea
since then Sandro has always taken Alonso position in their speculated line up for the new season

Five Things We Learnt From Super Eagles Win Vs Sierra Leone
Published: September 12, 2017

Five Things We Learnt From Super Eagles Win Vs Sierra LeoneThe Super Eagles B team got their WAFU Cup campaign underway on a positive note with a 2-0 victory over their Sierra Leoneans counterparts on Monday night.

Late goals from Osas Okoro and Peter Eneji was the tonic needed by the Salisu Yusuf tutored lads to break the resistance of the impressive Lone Stars at the Cape Coast Stadium.

With the win, Nigeria progressed to the Group A, which also comprises hosts Ghana, Mali and Guinea.

Allnigeriasoccer.com takes a look at five things learnt from the hard fought win by the Ikechukwu Ezenwa skippered side.

1. Ezenwa can save our soul

A man with nine lives. Trust him with responsibilities and he won't fail. The former Flying Eagles star soared his growing reputation with a man of the match performance.

He was mountainous in goal and proved why he is ready for bigger tasks for the Super Eagles in future.

2. Reliable Rabiu Ali

Rabiu Ali is a show stopper when he gets his bearing in games. The Kano Pillars legend was at the heart of the Eagles' positive moves and linked up well with his wicked passes.

3. Marauding full backs

Osas Okoro and Chima Akas were always venturing forward and looking to provide support to the attackers. They provided width to the tactical system of the Super Eagles and weren't found wanting.

Okoro's free kick is a typical "Television Goal" and he started the move that resulted in the second goal of the game.

4. Positive substitutions

A difficult game is usually won from the bench. The trio of Peter Eneji, Ubong Friday and Gabriel Okechukwu read a script dished out by Yusuf Salisu and acted it perfectly.

The three attackers were menacing when they were thrown into the fray.

5. Eneji wonder

Sweeping team move. Tic tac, sexy football, one touch game and whoops it landed at the back of the net.

It was a one time finish from Peter Eneji, who curled a low shot beyond the stranded keeper.

The Plateau United man reminded fans of the predatory abilities of the late Rashidi Yekini with his goal poacher's effort.

Maybe you were too young then. Off the top of my head, I can tel you Sergi, Barcelona, Hierro, Real Madrid, Campo, Real Madrid, Etxebberria, Atletico Bilbao. During the preview shows of the World Cup, our group was tagged the group of death. I think Group D. Gillette World Sport analyst said Spain will easily win the group and any of the other three will come second. The Spanish team was made of brilliant stars.

I can not remember the club Alfonso played for but he was so skillful and delightful to watch. He used to wear white boots.
Then during one of the Pre tournament foreign programmes shown on NTA then they'd just show a man's face and say 'this is the face of Raul'. Fear would just run down my spine. Raul did show his face on that day but the victory was ours at the end of 90 minutes

That Raul's goal was fantastic. What a way to start the game. I think the long pass came from Hierro. With Mobi Oparakwu running and then jumping to stop it. But the young Real Madrid assassin just tucked it in like a Boss. Hierro also scored a brilliant freekick in that game.

That was a big victory for Nigeria and the highlight of our appearance in the World Cup. We celebrated like we won the World Cup.

I still do not know what happened to Spain in that competition. They froze in the tournament. By the time they peaked with a 6-1 demolition of Bulgaria, it was too late. Yet, my love for the Spanish team started from there.

Every Ghana-must-go bag has a story. It’s usefulness and fame in Nigeria arrived in late January 1983, when the President of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, held a press conference and ordered all immigrants without the right papers to leave the country within a few weeks. There were over two million people; one million were Ghanaians, and the rest were from a mix of other West African countries.

Yes sure there has to be.
Or maybe an average is calculated from previous ranking points.

Icon4s:

I believe there are negative factors attached to loses and draws. It may not have been displayed in the formula but it does exist. Which is why you see teams lose ranking points when they lose or draw. Points are deducted. Just as just for that 1-0 lose to Benin our ranking points will drop from 715 to 696 even despite the 4-0 win over Cameroon.

Definitely it is not 1985.

Even the wiki link says this.

In 1983 in Nigeria when Shehu Shagari was the President of Nigeria, an executive order was given to immigrants without proper immigration documents to leave the country or they would be arrested according to the law. Most of the immigrants were West Africans and mainly Ghanaians. Over 2 million men, women and children were affected by this news and decision of then President of Nigeria, Shehu Shagari
