It doesn't matter ...Stand down means stand down ....The IG team is superior to that of the commissioner. Even the commissioner cannot just call the IG in this matter because by the intransigence of his team they have proved to be disloyal to constituted authority

Like sm1 said Lack of professionalism that's why wen i here need for state police smtmes I laugh cos who wud dey be loyal to? If there are no laid down protocols/laws to guide interms of following instructions and jurisdiction it will lead to a mini war btween d police. Our police are more of rascals than educated people. Only few are intelligent or abide by proper training.

something is not just right.
how can 1sars, 1inspector go for a raid?

even in hollywood movies, you'll see the lone actor show his badge, lower his gun and come out.

our trigger itchy finger cops need some level of training.

Only God knows how much I hate police ehnn..just imagine they have even started killing each other because of how stupid they are..so love and respect withing themselves even, what would it take you to just make a call to confirm the claims of someone you clearly see is in his uniform and has his service rifle?stupid Nigeria police..you'll hardly hear soldiers killing themselves,if these useless police are mumurishly killing each other like this then I'm sorry for the citizens.. sad #ihatenigerianpolice angry sad

The dead security operatives probably didn't have warrants. These clowns trespass private properties with reckless abandon.

So is that your justification for those deaths? You guys do not value lives at all. What a country. Smh.

Dunno why you guys don't want to read between the lines.

The suspect called a member of the igp's monitoring team who rushed to intervene despite the fact that the Sars guys had a warrant.

What does this tell you?

Clearly the suspect is politically connected and used that to evade search/arrest. The monitoring team guys have a serious case to answer... We need to know why a suspect is on personal terms with the igp's monitoring team.

Wrong. The highest authority in this case is the search warrant handed down by A COURT OF LAW. No igp's monitoring team nor the igp himself can issue an order superior to that one.

I didn't even click the link. I don't need to. There is no justification whatsoever. You all live a scary horrific cycle that is just amazing to say the least. When does it end. This "do me i do you" mentality will be you all's end one day.

Where did you get that they had warrant? By them telling the other operatives to call the Commissioner to confirm? Look, no one has the legal authority to intrude your property, not even the president.

All these are reminiscent of a banana republic.

I agree that they invade private properties without warrants, but did the lGP monitoring team need to shoot to kill? Disarming the SARS team by shooting to wound should have been a better alternative, I think, except where there was exchange of gunfire between the two teams.
Our Policemen need to be properly trained on the rules of engagement among them to avoid needless deaths.

Disarming the SARS team by shooting to wound would only lead to blood bath, because the one wounded would definitely return fire and in the process civilian lives.

For me, The IG Monitory team where in the wrong...the information that was sent to them was a compromised info.... going by the story, they were told armed robbers were carrying out an operation...only to get there and met fellow colleagues doing their job...this was not soldiers on police case situation but police to police, so asking their colleagues who were doing their legitimate duties was way out of line.

A simple call to the commissioner of police of the state or who ever was in charge of the IG monitoring team at the state level ..would have resolved this amicably.

The IG monitory team should be held for murder! angry

Search warrant can be printed in any business centre ... The most appropriate way to be sure you are not dealing with criminals is for them to stand down while a check is carried out with their superior ... You can't be armed and expect the others to loose guard and be calling your commissioner.

Where are other members of the team is it just the two of them that went to search somebody's home?

You lack critical thinking. It's probably due to the fact that you have never handled weaponry before and also facing an opponent with weaponry whose actions you can't predicate. Below is my earlier reply to someone else. Don't quote me again.

It is irrational and smacks of bad judgment if you intend shooting an equally armed man with a rifle, just to injure. You have probable cause to assume he will shoot you too, especially where there is conflict as stated here.

I am trained in weaponry handling, one of the first things you get taught is that if you are confronting an equally armed opposition and there is heightened tension, and you can draw probable cause that your opponent will shoot, then you have to shoot first...and that is "shoot to immobilize him".

The bad judgment started from the dead security operatives who went there without warrant, and won't stand down even when they had no legal authority to enter that property in the first place.

I also thought about this but don't you think "shoot to wound" in order to disarm would have resulted to massive exchange of gun fire, which prolly was the case here as you opined and also suspected by this aparent "shattering" of the body! Mehn, that couldn't have been from a couple of bullets, more like the emptying of an entire mag! So sad.

This wastage of human life is demonic and inexcusable. How did we get here? Professional colleagues against professional colleagues. Violence mentality. Killing spree. It is not as if these fallen officers are fowls. They are adults with families. One thoughtless moment of ego trip, they are brought down with a line of dependents bereaved in this hard country. Why wouldn't these officers take their conflict and suspicions to the nearest police station?
