This 18yr old girl is a pedophile and child molester regardless of whatever customs her people observe. A 17 year old boy is undeage and should be dating his age mates or immediate junior.

The girl should be found and arrested immediately, and quite honestly should be sent to life imprisonment for endangering the welfare a child, aggravated rape and pedophilia.

These are the kind of issues the government should focus its attention, instead they are busy chasing after multi billion dollar looters. This issue affects the common man more so than all the efforts spent chasing after looters.
I just dey laugh you. First, she's 17, he's 18...so all this your talk about her na just rubbish. Second, you really need to know the definition of pedophilia and learn to use it correctly. Third, you really need to focus your misguided vitriol to the right place - go and rant about those old men marrying actual preteen girls, now that's pedophilia. Finally, learn to read with understanding and have a dictionary with you at all times. Maybe next time, I won't have to laugh at you.

Pregnancy involved or not, that isn't a reason to get married at any age. Does either of them have a job? Where are the gonna live? Marriage isn't about love only.
Too bad they only show this part, but when things go south the don't let the world know.

That girl is not 17. I can see a catholic priest wedding then. No catholic priest join people of 17 years in marriage even with parental consent. Even at 18 with parental consent and all that, it will still be delayed till the youngest is at least 19. You can not contract marriage in the Catholic church except you are 21 years of age

Age is not a reflection/evidence of maturity. They may be young, but they could be more mature when compared to the plethora of single middle aged men and women sleeping around with multiple partners. It's only in Africa that people place so much value on age, in other climes, there is nothing strange about people getting married as teenagers.

As for those posters saying this must be pregnancy-related, go and deal with your ignorance elsewhere.

The age isn't really a big deal to me. I've seen quite a few of those. But most of the ones I've seen have jobs and/ or going to school, and living on their own already.
They might have rich parents who's gotten them a place to stay but what about other basic needs?

As long as the couple 're happy with their decision and have their families support; thats all that matter.

I'm sure the girl is pregnant & their parents know each other from church hence the decision to settle in marriage.

They should enjoy it while it lasts.

I suspect pregnancy is involved and both parents would be staunch traditional christians. They rather see their kids wed than to kill a baby they might later regret in life. Great courage on the part of the parents and youngsters. May God bless them with a happy home.

Lagusta:
Did someone above me say cool

This is not cool at all....

This marriage is sure to crumble....

They are too immature for marriage, they would surely have fights and quarrels, how would they handle that??

If its due to pregnancy, no wahala, how would that "boy" be responsible enough to take care of them?? I mean both mother and child??

Well, all the same, I wish them all the very best.....

Prophet. Oya tell us which marriage will not crumble.

What about all the "mature" people you know whose marriages have crumbled? Of course they will have fights and quarrels. Who doesn't know that? But guess what. The older one gets the less they are able to handle dissent. Remember all the fights you were in as a kid? How many do you remember keeping malice with the other person afterwards? I can't remember any on my own. But now that you are mature a small quarrel and you start keeping malice. Then you call yourself "mature" and claim you know how to handle fight and quarrel better. Keep deceiving yourself.

You don't know about the boy's family background. He is responsible only to his new wife and coming family. So don't have headache yet.

Happy married life, that's what I will wish them.
If they are age mates and decided to marry good for them. No need castigating them for being too young .
Una wey don old why una never marry.
This scenario played out when we finished secondary school, some of my class mates that got married immediately are happily married to their wives as I write now, they where about the same age been quoted here.
Maturity comes with responsibility.

May also be the only surviving male of a family. They should be in school. They will be needing a lot of moral, financial and tutelage support. Biological, it is the best age for marriage although I did it at twice his age. Let's wish them well.
