Nigeria will only be good when people contribute their fair share and get rewards that are commensurate. The south cannot be working while the north appropriate.

Maybe I'm missing something but I see no reason why the inventors efforts/success is difficult to appreciate. He's shown enough evidence and comes across (to me) as a humble, diligent and focused young man. There's really no need to run him down. Anyone who has superior information should provide it. Besides he says patents are published after 18 months - not too long to wait.

Till then all I can say is kudos to this young man who is blazing a trail in the techie world. If we have many more people trying to succeed as entrepreneurs, the employment rate will increase and it will have a positive impact on the economy. Nigeria will also rely less on foreigners for technological development.

Very well done Tosin. More grease to your elbows. May God grant you more wisdom and all that you need to be a world renowned inventor. Keep up the good spirit. Avoid distractions. God bless you much more.

Perhaps yours is a genuine case of misunderstanding, so I will indulge you and break it down as much as possible.

If you claimed to have three houses, and you're asked to show evidence of their existence, is it acceptable to say, oh I don't have evidence because it takes three years to build a house? It's not for you go give anyone the benefit of the doubt, it's for him to provide evidence to substantiate his claims.

How can he not have evidence for the patents he's been granted? And what evidence would suffice or substitute for the actual patent?

And if a patent review process takes 18 months within Nigerian jurisdiction, and he's not only 18 but only two years into an undergraduate program, are you saying he wrote his patents at barely 15 without ever being in university? Can't you spot obvious fallacies or bogus claims?

It is not rocket science to know this particular fellow is a fraud.

I personally interviewed this boy in talk about and saw the patents we are talking about here.

In reality, you can file for twenty different patents on plastic or stones within two weeks. With due respect, the boy has been working on his projects since late December September 2015 and his first patent was filed around August 2016 with the other three patents which came in on technology applied on his company's radio device was filed this year 2017.

You do not need a 2 pages claims to apply for patents. You said "I can not find your patents online" in which he responded by telling you patents are being uploaded 18 months after into directories. You ignored a fact and he countered your request by asking you to present him with the details of a patent owned by a government agency which you found impossible.

Call it fraud but patents are never issued to unverified claims.

lalasticlala mynd44 and seun. This guy above me is not being factual with the truth.

bayooooooo:
The guy is another fraud, or appropriately another Emegweali in the making.

1. Why is it that none of the claimed patents are online? I have searched everywhere just to read the patents, no links etc.
2. How often do undergraduates write patents?
3. Who are his research collaborators? How many patents are written by a sole individual? And how likely is it for an undergraduate without publications to solely write a patent?
4. If he is indeed a student in China, why is he filing patents in Nigeria? Why not China? What qualifies as patent in Nigeria might be classified as utter rubbish in China.

@Souljaboi1, apologies for commenting late. Been busy.

@bayoooooo, I am of the opinion that if one doesn't have any idea about a thing, he should maintain low profile if such things are being discussed or use Google!

It is obvious you don't know anything about Intellectual Property, i.e. Patent, Trademark, Copyright and Industrial Design.

I don't know the person being discussed, but based on my experience, the Patent certificate displayed earlier is genuine.

Also, let me answer all your posers.

1. Patent, Trademark and Industrial Design are handled by the Federal Ministry of Commerce & Industry in Abuja( there is a Dept for that), they have a Registrar. Until about 2 or 3 years ago, you can't even find anything Intellectual Property on the internet in NIGERIA. However, things have change but not to the extent where you can have earlier grants online.

2. Patent is not a research, it is a Grant by Government on something new or modifications on existing things, so that you can benefit from it for some time before everyone can begin to have access to it. Anyone, illiterate or literate, old or young, undergraduate or graduate can have the Grant. You don't write it, you prove to Government that you invented something and they will give you.

3. Patent is not a research so you don't need collaborators. However, Government can give a particular Patent to an Individual or a group of persons.

4. I don't know if he is a student in China, however, Please don't get it twisted, Patent is equal to an invention, and Patent is the same worldwide, however, if someone has registered an invention before you in China, China would not accept same from you but if it has not been registered in Nigeria, then Nigieria would accept it as an invention.

There are International intellectual property protocols that stipulate that once you register a particular IP in a country, most commonly your own country, it is automatically registered in the signatory countries Google can help you on this.

Many thanks.
