It's you who doesn't get it. You don't buy tv rights for. Whole country over all forms of transmission, you buy rights over a mode of transmission. Internet tv rights are not satellite TV rights.

Internet tv rights were not sold to Multi choice. Infact internet for sub saharan Africa have never been auctioned as no one has been interested. Therefore beIN is allowed to sell the service to anyone who may be interested?

Get it?

Maybe you should check that claim by doing a quick search on Google

Yup. So tstv is only providing infrastructure for us to watch beIN online.

Dstv's tv rights don't stop me from watching beIN online. I'm not watching TV, I'm streaming.

It would be as stupid if Dstv tv rights could stop me from watch content on YouTube.

No difference difference between YouTube and Tstv beIN

My DSTV subscription expired on the 24th of this month, was surprised they didn't cut me off like they normally do, on Monday I didn't bother to check the TV cause I know my subscription was up, but to my surprise on Tuesday night I just said lemi watch those free to air Chinese stations.... And I saw UEFA Champions league match Dortmund Vs Madrid even yesterday I watched the Chelsea match too, was even alternating between Chelsea and Man United match grin grin grin grin.... All my channels are intact, in fact, am presently confused if I still remember the date my subscription expires, 24th is my salary day, so I subscribe once alart shows..... I've been thinking maybe it's the TSTV fever, but then I am assuming maybe it's because of the coming independent day...... Abeg, is anyone having the same experience??
Enjoy it while it last nah smiley

Of a truth , this news gladdened my heart when I heard it about 2wks ago ..

I was however worried about their mode of transmission- which is data based ..

We are in a country where many area of our infrastructure is like putting new wines in old bottles or vice versa, the hiccups of internet access are quite much with almost all the providers. They may have different names, but usually same sources of backbone ..

If glo doesn't complain of fibre cable cut in the sea, you would hear of damaged fibre during road construction from the other network.

This is not to say the move isn't laudable , but real terrestrial TV broadcast rights should be taken off the monopoly den ..

Anything that will thwart DSTV monopoly is highly welcome with an open hand's. For long they've played on our senses, knowing fully well then that we will only rant about hike of subscription and still come back to sub because of lack of alternatives.

I can pause my subscription, right? So, if i'm going to pause my daily or monthly subscription, what am I going to pause if it is not my data since you claimed that I'm not watching with my data. Is it the time?
For example, my daily subscription will be 24 hours. But if I don't watch up to 24 hours that particular day, can I watch the remaining hours the next day even though it is daily subscription?

u still don't get it. your monthly subscription is equivalent to 720hrs . so when u pause ur subscription, u actually pause the time. remember, u can pause the subscription for 7days which is equivalent to 168hrs. so when u pause the sub, the pause time read rather than ur subscription time.

if it is a daily subscription then ur sub time will be 24 hrs while the pause time might be 5.6 hrs. a month pause time is 162hrs/30=5.6hr daily

Below are their subscription fees but take your time to study the number of days attached to each subscription.

You people should stop exposing your ignorance like this.
Trust me those devices come from China. Any OEM provider based on size of order would manufacture for even less. Kai dstv don do una strong thing.

Most of the money paid to dstv isn't exactly to cover cost of equipment, the salaries to pay all those "mpele" abi how dem dey speak that their language where do you think it comes from? Yep that's right you & I.

The equipment itself is next to nothing to manufacture. So to provide employment for their citizens...how many of the so called international stations on dstv do you think actually come from the source itself?
Take the BET you watch for example. All the programs are old, then they include a mix of south African programs and you people get excited. Try streaming BET on any other platform, totally different!

Don't get it twisted. Now it tstv decides not to get involved in creating all these local content crap, just pay for rebroadcasting rights forget it, not only would you get the real deal without people speaking mpele all over my screen but it costs them less.

The whole dstv thing na scam to promote south African subtly into your minds.

Shoprite too na scam to provide avenue to ship made in SA goods easily to other regions outside their county in a mix with local products.

I'm not saying its bad Na cunning man go bury cunning man wey die, just don't want you sitting and thinking you have all the answers to questions you don't even know.
