Let me post this again because I think it's fitting in this instance:

Mickael2 (insert komekn here), like most football analysts, I think you're underestimating the level of Nigerian players due to the football clubs they play or do not play for. A few years ago I published an article in a Naija daily regarding a peculiar Nigerian perspectives in football.

Take this for instance, when the Nigerian U-23 team lined up at the China Olympics soccer event final, the profile of the players could not have been more different from their Argentine counterparts:

At CD Argentina had Ezekiel Garay of Real Madrid, Nigeria had Dele Adeleye from the bench of dutch basement club Sparta Rotterdam. Just over a year ago, he was at Shooting Stars, oscillating between Division 1 and 2.

At LB, with the responsibility of marking the dreaded Leo Messi; yes Lionel Messi of Barcelona, was Chibuzor Okonkwo from Bayelsa United, a right footed player converted to LB.

In CM, where Argentina had Riquelme, Gago and Mascherano, arguably the best DM in the world at that time, Nigeria presented Ebenezer Ajilore of Mydjtilland and from the bench at Sparta, Sanni Kaita. A few years ago, Ajilore plied his trade at Ebiede Babes, a Lagos youth club.

But as the game unfolded, the confidence of the Nigerian players and the cautious approach their opponents showed, belied the reputation and CV of Argentina's players.

This effectively proved two things, if you can believe it:

(i) that the club status of the Nigerian players does not accurately reflect their real quality; and that

(ii) a new measure is urgently required to determine the quality of our players; one that is not entirely dependent on the judgment of European club managers whose philosophy of the game and needs, vis a vis their clubs, may not necessarily be in alignment with the development of the average Nigerian player, or the SE.

O pari

The question I will use to qualify your proposition.

How far have our youth players progressed over the years We get to very high accolades at youth level that does not transfer to professional development.

Look at the that 2005 team that included Mikel. Consider where the majority of Argentinian players have progressed to over the past 12 years and then see where our players have got too.

That observation is reflective in all our youth teams but less so since 2013. The advent of MRI scanning.

He should be a good deputy to Ndidi as DM since we have Onazi and Ogu as CM or what do you think

Thank you! Just a few years ago, Pep Guardiola confessed that Ike Uche alone totally outplayed the entire Barca squad.

Bottom line, out boys are better than the football clubs they play for. Out players are underrated and undervalued in Europe. There are no two ways about it. Hence, I pray and hope that we do very well in the World Cup because that's one way to increase the value of our players.

O pari

Did that under valuation.

Prevent Drogba, Bonny, Obagoal, Kanu, Finidi, JJay and most recently KC, Ndidi or the Senegalese Demba Ba, Cisse, etc, etc

You are looking for very weak excuses. There is no colour or nationality in money. If you perform all things being equal you progress.

Why is Zaha the most prized winger in English football but he plays for Palace and CIV.

Our boys are not performing to the required level.

The truth must be told KC is not performing to the required level , Musa is not performing, Isaac Success is a waste man, .

Ndidi is performing, Onyekuru is performing, Obagoal is performing, etc

Good for the boy and super eagles. How i wish Alampasu can get the same opportunity and Ajiboye manned the post for CHAN eagles in January.

I see us having solid options in goalkeeping just like in fullbacks we used to complain about sometimes ago.

I wish Uzoho well all he need is composure and confidence now nothing more, with runs of games in LA liga i don't see need for Enyeama.

In any forward thinking organisation there is continous development. To increase thier competitive advantage.

Stability over continous improvement means stagnation which in turn will lead to mediocrity. Stability as you put it and in this context is essentially the enthronement of mediocrity.

I have had involvement with a good number of clubs in the EPL and Championship. I have never heard of the word stability over continous consistent improvement and development.
Both stability and continous improvement in good measure. An English idiom says a rolling Stone gathers no Moss. You cannot in the name of improvement keep changing the team in such a way that the team acquires no tone or rhythm. If stability overrides continous development there's the risk of complacency setting in. If new additions are made at blistering pace there's the risk of having players but no team. Balance is the key word and I think Rohr is moving at a steady pace on both indices. Uzoho, Onyekuru, Nwakali, Ebuehi, Agu were not there in the beginning but there are in the frame now.

@the bolded: you need not hear it. How many players did Chelsea bring into the first team this season? Why didn't they overhaul the whole team. I hope you know that there are players better than each of the Chelsea players.

I repeat: everything in good measure. Seems to me as if you are not concerned about the SE per se. As I've said before your concern is to get the SE chock full of FB players in the UK.

My man is not about like but performance.

If we want to based it on likeness then we w not have a solid team.

No doubt Isaac Success is a talented player but presently he need to get fit and back to form.He can only do this by playing week in week out which is not guaranteed, so why putting hope on such player.

Isaac making the team is dicey no sentiment but based on current situation.Honestly my advice for him is to seek loan to may be championship club in January and regained his form for national team consideration..

The issue of likeness should not arise but performance nothing more, enough of past glory especially youth football glory.

If we are making case for Success then we are unfair to player like Awoniyi, Osimhen, Kelechi Nwakili, Joel Obi,Sadiq Umar,Alhassan Muzzam at least we are seeing them every week.

On Oyekwuru the guy is doing it every week and deserves a place in the squad for now ahead of off form Success but it's left for Oyekwuru to grab his opportunity or else he lose out,no time to waste on any player.
We were playing on words. The success I meant I like is 'success' as a human value not necessarily the player.

Nigeria vs Argentina: Rohr speaks on 4-2 victory
SPORT
Published on November 14, 2017
By Ifreke Inyang
RELATED TOPICS:
Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has praised the duo of goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho and Brian Idowu, after their 4-2 win over Argentina in an international friendly on Tuesday night.
The two players made their debut for Nigeria and impressed the German tactician.
Idowu scored on his debut after coming on for Ola Aina, while Uzoho ensured Nigeria didn’t concede again after he replaced Daniel Akpeyi who conceded both goals.
“Brian is a newcomer in the team, but he’s not the only one. We have three new players, and I would like to highlight our 19-year-old goalkeeper Uzoho. He played well. Such matches are specially designed so that we can asses new players in the team. We have three players who have a special relationship with Russia.
“We have Ahmed Musa and the captain (Mikel Obi) of the team. He has a connection here through the family. Brian played well, scored a goal. His prospects depend on how he will perform at the club. His debut, I’m happy. On his position we have other options, so who will pick who plays better, he will be involved in the fight,” Rohr stated afterwards.

Rohr Still Searching For Options In Defence Despite 4-2 Win Over Argentina
November 19, 201706

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is keen on strengthening his defence line ahead of Nigeria’s campaign at the World Cup next year in Russia.

Rohr is still searching for options but this time around an extra central defender who is similar in style to defence mainstay grin Leon Balogun appears to be the target of the Franco-German coach.

Although Kenneth Omeruo impressed in the game against Argentina which Nigeria won 4-2, Rohr appears not to be keen on him anymore as he is still searching for a fourth defender aside Chidozie Awaziem, William Troost-Ekong and Balogun.

The coach who played the 3-5-2 ‎formation against Argentina on Tuesday in Nigeria’s 4-2 win is still in favour of playing with a back four in his favourite 4-3-3- formation used in Nigeria’s qualifying games.

A central defender with the ability to play from the back is now the target of the coach, who is also looking for a top striker to complement Odion Ighalo in attack in games where he wants to play with a lone striker.

I believe so much in homegrown players but any FB who is ready to compete should be given chance.

Mujtahida you should know i don't just go for any player until i make a critical look, honestly if the guy is eligible Rohr should just extend invitation.

I want to see Dessers,Sanusi and Onomah in eagles they are pretty good players.
