daveP: the law school has no right to ask any student not to wear the hijab. They should be less concerned about that. There's no part of the constitution or any law that forbids them to wear it in the law school. MURIC is an Islamic organisation, you wouldn't expect them not to take actions. They ain't an NGO or any human right group!! |

Diademk07:the same sharia law is not used in the law school, we don't have two countries remember. Go back to your senses that should previously tells you that Constitution should protect everyone. Simple 1 Like |

Myde4naija: Sharia law is an institution in the country, just as common law! They all should be subjected under the constitution, don't you think so? Unless you're an hypocrite. |
Re: Hijab Saga: MURIC Submits Memorandum To House Of Reps by irepsuccess: 5:16pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
yinkopet:Hey, we can't be more English than the English people. Even in the western world, you're allowed to wear a short hijab as a lawyer. it's not written anywhere, even in our constitution that it shouldn't be allowed. Other countries are already stopping the use of wig by lawyers, we are here talking about wearing hijab or not. I can see religious bigotry here!! 1 Like |

irepsuccess: There's also no part of the constitution that forbids the practise of females in the law practise as practised by sharia court. |
Re: Hijab Saga: MURIC Submits Memorandum To House Of Reps by irepsuccess: 5:27pm On Jan 03, 2018 |
Diademk07:i really don't get your argument. You mean the sharia court don't permit females to practice? what has the issue of sharia court has to do with this? we're talking about human right here and not religion. I really don't understand why the xtians are more concerned about this hijab of a thing. it's a thing of choice, no one is forcing anyone to wear it, why stopping those that want to wear it? we should not drag religion into this, we should all tolerate each other. Jesus preached tolerance and not bigotry |

irepsuccess: What human right? Is hijab wearing an human right or a religion fanatic arabic wear? Just tell me what's human right in it? The real human right worth fighting for is the exclusion of females in sharia law practise! Kapish. 2 Likes |

irepsuccess: 1). Muric has not taken action against the killings of muslims in the north by Boko Haram, by presenting a memorandum to the Senate on the issue. 2). Muric has not taken action against the issue of almajiri who roam the streets, and are deprived of a sound education. 3). Muric has not taken action against child-marriages, where young girls are given out in marriage to men old enough to be their fathers, within the muslim community. 4). Muric has not taken action against Fulani herdsmen who ransack entire communities and kill innocent muslims, in addition to those of other faiths. 5). Muric has not taken action against the fact that women are not allowed to practise as lawyers in Sharia courts, thereby depriving such women the fundamental right to earn a living, in a legitimate manner. But Muric now has enough time and energy to pursue frivolities like the hijab, which is an item of clothing not even mentioned in the Quran? Kai! 5 Likes 1 Share |

When Nelson Mandela fought for equal rights for blacks in South Africa, he received a huge baclash that even his life was threatened. When Martin Luther King fought for equal rights for blacks in America, he received a huge baclash that even his life was threatened. It is a natural law that all freedom fight must face opposition and hostilities and Firdaus Amasa is no different. 1 Like 1 Share |

irepsuccess:In the UK, they did not get the right to wear the Hijab or turbans, automatically. They took the issue to court several years ago, and there was a long drawn out debate on whether it was permissible or not, to wear the hijab in the workplace. It took a long time, before judgement was given. Even at that, there are still certain restrictions on where and how it can be worn in public places. Is there such a court ruling in place in Nigeria, that permits the use of Hijab in the workplace? NO!! Why didn't Firdaus head to court before the call-to-bar ceremony to protest the fact that she wanted to wear a hijab, under the wig and gown? 2 Likes |

Kindly, Google search....MURIC and one NGO, CERAP or so are the first set of group that raised alarm about the Fulani herdsmen ish and they went to the extent of writing saraki... #make use of google to confirm whether truly they've not been taking steps on the issues you raised. i am more concerne about the last part of your comment, hey more than 10verses of the quran talked about the use of hijab and countless hadiths talked about it. stop making hasty conclusion on what you have no knowledge of. |
