Well if I were the fiancee o,i would wash the plates,its now left for whoever is in the house,maybe mother in-law to tell me not to bother (of which I will persist o cos I was well trained lol) or my sister in-law to join me if she wishes (if she no join me she go visit her in-laws house someday Nd learn her lesson lol).....na for Africa we dey even ask this kind question? I can't say for other climes and culture, but in Yoruba culture; which i am conversant with, no one will tell the fiancee before she jumps into the kitchen to do the dishes.

This question should not come up if there is a dish washer jare!!!

All of them(man, fiancée, sister and mum) should put hands together, wash the plates and rinse the plates. They can even continue their talk while the washing is ongoing. Mama can be supplying them water while they wash to use and rinse.

This is my reason:

If sister washes alone, in her mind she will say the fiancée doesn't have respect.

If fiancée washes alone, she will ask in her mind if this is how they will use work and kill her.

If mama washes alone, she will say these kids don't have respect for allowing an elder to wash.

If the man washes alone, your guess is as good as mind.

But with the man using his head and telling his fiancee and sister to join him in washing and also engaging mama, there is division of labour, joy in washing plates and "Tori" can continue in the process.

Your fiancée is a guest. Courtesy demands she isn't bothered so your sis should wash the dishes, but in a situation the lady is uncomfortable for not doing anything and she insist on washing, persist she doesn't.

The fact that, she is a fiancée kind of means that, she is not a guess.

In my neck of the hood, it depends on the age of the finance vs the sister....if the sister is older, the finance is doing kitchen duties, otherwise the sister does it.

The sister should do the washing. The girl friend washing the plate will make her look like a pretender, mothers are aware of all that gimmick.

The guy's bsbe should insist to wash it while the guy attempt to assist,since it's her first day visiting,it's important she attempts to do the dishes if she wants to be in the good books of the family.

If it were me.. I'd like my sister to pick the plates to the kitchen.. Then I believe my fiancé would be wise Enof to excuse herself and go join my sister.. Even if she doesn't wash.. Jes to keep her company fr a while... Its normal acting..

Oga just buy a dish washer and don't stress anyone.

This case is like a man, his son and a donkey. People will have different views. No one view is correct.

So better solve hatred in the family by telling all to join you in the washing. You will lead the washing team and wash as well. Lead by example.

I discovered that about 90% comment here all came from the mouth of the ndi ofe nmanu, to really prove to the family that their son has gotten a good wife material, the fiance should be the one to pick up the ditches for wash, while the boy younger sister will be like, aunty No, let me go and wash it my self, along the line, the two of them will now do the washing.
