Imagine the billions of sperm cells you will produce in your lifetime. How many of them will be born? How many of them will you be able to cater for? If you donate them, you will never meet them, you will not know who you're donating to, IVF is superexpensive and can only be afforded by the rich so that means the kids will be born into rich families. Lastly, you are not the legal parent of the child produced and so have no legal right whatsoever to the child. The process might not even be successful, so why the sweat? Do you understand now?
Did you know the implication of what you are talking about, is better for the cell to die than to give it out unnecessary. If you must give it out the family you gave it to must be noted,so that there will be a follow up. The other family suppose to know that their child is existing somewhere,This is Africa.

This world would be a better place when we all admit we are interdependent. Females are paid more because the procedure is much more invasive and the eggs take longer to produce, not to mention the fact that egg production is limited. Those facts drive prices higher than male seminal fluids.

The reason why many Nigerians are making wrong choices is lack of information. Democracy is a game of numbers, that is why majority carries the vote and in the case of Nigeria, when the majority is uninformed, we will still keep having leadership problems. We need to keep spreading the right information to balance the gap. Resistance is expected because people like the familiar. Pardon my digression. Its just that we are dealing with lack of information here also. Welldone. Btw how do I pm you, I need some further information some people might not be able to bear.

I understand, its just that I feel their negative contributions is irrelevant to me. As to the pm, you can drop your email, I'll send you a message

Wonderful....but scary experience. I have reservations though:
1) The money is too small considering the stress Involved & the amount of money the recipient pays. These things go for as high as 8000-15,000 in the US. So I think, just like everything in Nigeria, they are ripping the donors off.
2)There might be hidden risks involved cos the quantity of drugs you took & injected is just too much. I fear they might have adverse effects.

she saved a life. The eggs could have been washed with her period. I salute her boldness. Besides, on the average, women have 500,000 eggs they are born with. I bet you cant release 500 in ovulation during your entire reproductive age. Why go to the grave with the rest when you can give life and smiles to somebody.
Did you know the implication of what you are talking about, here is one of it, in the future people will be marrying their sister without knowing it, I can donate sperm rampantly and my own children will go marry some of other children that came out of my sperm donor, they will be marrying their brothers and sisters.

Nice. Good job. You made a great sacrifice. God will surely bless you cause, you have wiped away someone's tears.

But I was not for free and neither will the fertility clinic give it out for free. It's her trade. She just traded her fertile eggs for money.
Am not sure that act deserves God's blessings.

Please how's your sperm more important? What will you fertilize in the absence of "less important" female eggs?

The person you quoted advised people like you to agree that male and female are interdependent. Which means, one needs the other to exist.

So you will just be giving your children out like that, do you know that the child will resemble you.

Many of you like to use rubbish to justify what you're saying. Have you done your researches? One of my neighbors in Lagos underwent IVf, the baby looks exactly like her, very fair like her, the same kind of eyes and facial structure, in fact, I never believed it was IVF when I was told. Again, most times, when babies are growing, they tend to look like people around them, enough reason they always say you wait for the baby to fully grow before you conclude who he/she would look Like. Please be informed, the baby doesn't necessarily have to look like the donor. Nawa o!

I have my own question, are you a trained nurse, doctor or fertility expert? If not, please make more research.

Secondly, if you really read my write up, I didn't dismiss the risk of getting adverse effects like OHSS but chances are really slim if you use the methods suitable for you. I didn't get any adverse effect but that's just me. You could be one of the few cases of the adverse effects coming to play, don't say I told you there are no risks because there obviously are. Its a hormonal therapy combined with a surgical procedure if that's not risky, I don't know what else is.

Thirdly, I had a really strong motivation. If you have a 4.0 CGPA sitting in your cabinet and a struggling business, plus being the first child then maybe you'll understand my motivation.

Finally, I really don't care for your opinion of me tbh, I did this and there were no complications and I'll do it again

Ciao

How sure are you that your girlfriend or wife is not related by blood to you? I am not saying you are wrong to have said that. I am only saying a lot of uninvestigated cases of such children / unions are everywhere. A lot of people crush on their cousins and they end up having sex. It is against our African and religious ethics but things like this happen. Some of people are products of happenstance

There are two type of IVF, the egg of a woman can be harvested and fertilized outside the womb and a donor can be used if the woman egg is not good or doesn't have egg. The one you are talking about is probably the woman egg that was used or a donor egg and husband sperm.
Once you use a donor egg and not your egg,the child wont have your gene but the gene of the donor.
I am not against donating egg but it should not be done rampantly

The egg contain someone DNA, if it is done rampantly where everyone will be selling egg, the children that will be in this world in the future will be marrying their sisters and brothers and this will result to new strange diseases. That is why the core northerners have various strange diseases in their midst because they marry their cousins their father brother children.

Everything you wrote up there that was almost making sense was spoilt by your last paragraph. You are trying so hard to be aloof & arrogant. Must you be condescending? Is there anywhere in my writing that indicated I was judging you? You were obviously too quick to quote me that you didn't digest what I wrote. Besides, the way you have been answering some other ones too buttresses the point I'm trying to make here.

Btw, more research on what exactly? Do I have to be any of those people to know something about this?

Then, I used "hidden" adverse effect not necessarily because there's none at all. But because they might not show immediately. So I didn't mention anything about you saying there's no adverse effect.

I'm not concerned about WHY you did it. I'm more concerned about the HOW & the after effect(if any). I didn't think I was wrong to have commented. Besides, I didn't even quote you directly.

Please, learn how to address issues(if there's any) without attacking the person. The moniker "saintmary" who is clearly defending you(cos she's enlightened enough as I am in respecting your choices even when some others aren't) is even more "gracious and polite" in her response to others than you. I suggest you learn from her.

I am not judging nor condemning the lady. Life is a choice and God himself gave us power to make choices at the prevailing information at our disposal. She made a choice and traded her eggs and got instant reward monetary wise, it's not a crime atleast against humanity ( I don't know if it is against God) .
My thought is, saying she made a sacrifice and that God will bless her is a fallacy, cos she already got blessed in the process.
I hope u understand.
