Why the fvck are Nigerians always fixated on migration?!! Always taking the easy way out. I always see Naija Twitter "intellectuals" advice youths to leave while they can. Foreigners see this too, and no one is ever going to respect you if you think mass migration is a solution.

Why not focus on a lasting solution: saving the soul of your country by calling for constitutional changes, building strong institutions etc?

I don't get how people can feel comfortable developing another country at the expense of yours. Sub Saharan Africans just don't get global politics. The leaders in Western countries know exactly what they're doing: selectively taking in the above average and positive outliers --- those with usefull skills, the smartest or the socioeconomically advantaged and their looted wealth --- for their own development. This is harmful to smaller nations since they are left with a bit more shitty people and less wealth on average. Also, the numbers are well controlled because they understand the effect of culture on institutions. There're many reasons why sh!tholes are what they are, but culture is a big part of it!

It's okay to study and live outside Africa, but at least consider making positive contributions to your country for the sake of your future generations and the dignity of your people.

It's a terrible thing. But I actually wish there will be mass migration, let them cut all ties with the country and leave it for us who love it, we shall build the nation and make it great again. Besides, the more people migrate the more opportunities and jobs are left behind for those of us who remain. I think Nigeria is over populated so let them go. Life is not easy out there as they think but they will only realize it when they taste it

Bro? Paint me a picture.

As an example : A Nigerian in Nigeria, will fly to Germany under what visa? ( Student visa?) And enrol for a free education in Germany? And all you need is €8700?

I know I can Google this, but it's better hearing from someone who's undergone the process.

No condition attached.

From kindargarten to Ph.D level is absolutely free in German universities...except in private Univerities like SRH berlin and Jacob university in Bremen etc.

Also the state of baden wurttemburg introduce 1500 euro per semester last year.

All government universities in Germany are free.

Legally you have 18month to stay over after your studies...thats enough to get a job to stay here forever.

German government is immigrant friendly.we want skilled labour workforce.

Plenty student jobs from amazon(1300 euro monthly) to daimler Mercedes-Benz (2000euro).

Free education and semester ticket to make life comfortable.

I live and study here and visit uk.....very close to each other.

UK government is after your money...RUN

This is a shortage skill...
They employ people mostly in the medical, engineering and construction fields. We know this.
Most of you work nights? Abi na lie

They value their life and would gladly employ you to the the bits they do not like.

This is the same with Australia, Canada, US, Germany e.t.c
When you study a STEM field, you would be in demand and getting residency would not be very difficult. But if you study bus admin, social science, art e.t.c. Na OYO be your name o, even in the countries mentioned in my first sentence.
Even in Canada, it's tough for home students to get jobs in non-stem courses, how much more international students.

Broh I don't think this calls for insults, his thread was more or less specific for students and general employment opportunities. We know that the NHS is experiencing acute shortage of personnel and so health workers have it easier accessing jobs in the UK (although the Tier 2 visa is another headache entirely).
I think it would have been better to laugh it off and move, since as a professional, you know better about your field.

Ignoramus simply means an ignorant person, so I don’t think i was insultive in any way. I only pointed out that h is ignorant of what he was talking about.

One million likes. This sense of entitlement is mind boggling. The people who owe us but have ruined our collective future (our rulers and 'leaders'), we allow to get away and do as they please, with only half-hearted murmurs at best.
You pay for an education, you get an education. A damn good one too. Or is nobody interested in the quality of education anymore? People go to the UK to study for other reasons, not just for immigration. The British are doing what is best for their country. We have allowed ours to be dumped in the toilet. Get your British degree and move on to another country if you don't want to return home.

Am guessing you didn't utilise your opportunity properly if ever you went to university here and worked here. Masters brought me to UK. Now am married to the most beautiful British Born Yoruba babe with 3 kids, combined take home pay every month after tax is £5,300! Bought our council house on mortgage, bought a land in Kubwa Abuja also, everything crispy and all Glory to God almighty..
So if you ever have another opportunity, make good use of it

saouri:
Dear All,

It is with a deep sense of responsibility and awareness I am writing you this article today.

For years we have been going to schools in the UK and other parts of the EU. In the past, up to around 2009/2010, we used to get opportunities to stay back in the UK in particular and get job opportunities but in the last 7 to 8 years this has not been the case.
Now as soon as you graduate from your university, you are expected to get out of the UK.

Please bear in mind that as international students, you PAY MORE to get the same education as your UK and EU counterparts but you DO NOT get the same employment opportunities.
The UK will rather employ someone from the EU (or has an EU country passport) who cannot speak even 4.0 IELTS level of english and 4 months working experience, than employ you who has 5 to 7 years working experience with a 7.5 to 8.5IELTS level of english.
They know that the situation in Nigeria is getting worse by the day with the joke that we have as leaders, especially in the aspect of employment.
Some people will say be innovative, be an entrepreneur; my people, please do not allow motivational speakers deceive you. Entrepreneurship is difficult. It is not as glamorous as instagram makes it look. Also, entrepreneurship is NOT for everybody. Many people need real jobs!
Please ask yourself the following;
- Why are you really going to school in the UK?
- Why are you paying higher amounts of money to get an education which does not give you the same employment opportunities as your counterparts?
- Is marrying a UK/EU citizen because of papers worth it?
- Is it really worth it to stay back in the UK illegally?
- Why are you making the UK richer by driving up the value of the pound against the Naira by paying schools fees and visa fees in pounds?
- Why can’t those schools have accounts in Nigeria and you pay all the necessary fees in Naira?

Once upon a time the Naira was more valuable than the pound. My people, Think!!!
Nigerians are excluded from so many life changing opportunities for African youth such as the ALL BAR NONE scholarship, the DFID scholarships, the Barclays Rising Eagles programme (and Barclays has a branch in Lagos) etc.

I totally understand your need to migrate from the horrible economic and employment situation but I would advise you all to look at countries that use the point-based system and actually value your education or work experience in their country.

As a Nigerian, you cannot receive money in your Naira account through PAYPAL but you are encouraged to spend/buy using the same PAYPAL. If you can sell on Ebay, you can make money from home by selling things to people all over the world. We need a wakeup call.

Just so you know, I have personal experience living and working in the UK. To date, it has not given me any employment anywhere.

Even if you have parents that were legally British, because you were not born there in the UK, the Home office is not just going to hand you nationality. No. My country people please understand the UK DOES NOT WANT YOU...

I hope that this write up can dissuade many of you to look away from the UK or the EU.
Leave them alone.

Language is a barrier in Japan, but not same in Germany? grin Una funny oh. To your bolded: This is what mis-information causes. Japanese ditto Germans have skills, however unlike the Germans, the Japanese are not procreating enough to meet the nation's TFR. Which is why they desire skilled immigrant (across all sectors). What is the surest route other than being a student? The government has reduced barriers to immigration, read The Japan Times and NHK. Once you are skilled and come through legal means, no problem. If language is your problem, we're in the 21st century. Be bi/tri lingual.
I am even a tri-lingual. Do you think most Nigerians have that time to learn another language especially, Japanese language which is the most difficult language in the world. Even though they offer courses in Englih. Though, thet offer scholarships to Nigerians and other nations. As i have said before, you can be accepted with your skills but it is via internship. A non-Japanese wages/salary isn't the same with a Japanese citizens despite working in the same field.

I applied for 10years after providing necessary documents ..all my documents were correct and I answered their questions truthfully.
I was denied..for no reason and I can't appeal..
After paying $1,074 is that not a total rip off!!

Look for university offering your course, get admission, open block account and fund it, apply for visa, fly to germany and enrol in school,to enrol u pay around 300 euro as semester fee. It covers all transportation for 6 month and also gives u other benefit of student.

Thats all.

Sorry to burst your bubble but if the "best of the best" were encouraged and employed in Nigeria and not punished for choosing education over music or sports, then no one would migrate.
The developed countries take the best in for their own development and the best get employed in these developed counties... It's a win win for everyone

Why would a capable person waste his talents in Nigeria, when he can go to the US or Europe and become an employed hard worker?

I see you only focused on the 3rd paragraph. My post isn't against migration, it's against mass migration and the burgeoning idea among young Africans that migration is a lasting solution.

Of course there's nothing wrong with moving to places where your talents are appreciated. As long as one takes effort to ensure that he/she passes on skills and knowledge to the next generation of Nigerians.

Well, education is a business there....Private universities cost more than Public in Nigeria...it's your choice!. Tuition is free in Gemany. The same tuition is 4-5x more expensive in the USA. What i mean is that, they offered you education, not employment. The employment dream is most people's own expectations...But having the education only puts you in the competitive employment market!

I think they only owe that to their citizens and EU citizens, then when there are still job openings after nobody takes up the role for 2-3 months, then we come in. However, i heard the jobs are actually there, but the problem is the visa!
Finally, someone that is thinking straight

Firstly, if so then, they should not emigrate na. Secondly, this is dependent on the sector. But as a professional (IT, finance, medical docs etc), you earn same as the Japanese. I forgot to tell you that the economy has been growing (approx. 2-4% quarterly). Apart from the US, which developed nation is growing that fast with employers complaining of labour shortages? shocked

Dear saouri
I think you're missing a very vital point. The UK Offered admission NOT employment. If you want to work look for other alternatives, they should raise their unemployment rate because of you. They didn't invite you.
Or you want them to relax the laws at the detriment of their citizens?
We complain how the "whites" take over our jobs in Nigeria. We should be like the UK if we want to grow.
And an international teacher is expected to pass TOEFL to teach in Nigeria, while a Nigerian just needs a credit in Nigeria to teach. You get my point?

UK, Ireland and NZ. Best option so far. Infact.. I had advice any Doctor leaving Nigeria should aim for UK first, then while in UK register in Ireland. (Should Immigration Policy Change)

If you are not satisfied with the first two then you can start looking at NZ.

Plab 1 and 2 will get you license in UK.

UK experience is recognised in NZ.

Plab 1 will exempt you from Ireland PRES 2, All you need to sit is PRES 3 Clinical exam to obtain a license.

Plab 1 will qualify you to sit Nzrex clinical exam.

Canada is a no no. Even after passing exam. You will be wasting away. PR or no PR

To the topic:

UK is not a friendly place for students or immigrants at the moment. If they can get rid of EU, don't know why Nigerians still worry about a place not welcoming.

Unless you are totally uneducated, wear Hijab, can't speak English and would need interpreter. Then you can be rest assured your stay is guaranteed. Coming from war torn country is a bonus.

Even children of age 7 and above, who were born there, have lived there all their lives and have no ties to their parents country of origin still stand a chance to be removed if their parents have no legal status.

That's how brutal it is at the moment. Hopefully with time, they will have a well structured immigration system that is fair to everyone regardless of race, religion, or country of origin.

N. B. I won't be responding to any mention if your reasoning is lopsided or myopic.
