A civil society group under the aegis of the Coalition of Women For Justice today March 19th protested against Globacom over the alleged sack of over 90 married women staff.

According to the group, It's outright injustice to just sack about 100 married women without recourse to their rights and welfare.

"Working mothers are partners in economic development, Do not discriminate against them", placards carried by the protesters reads.

Recall that Lasgidi Online earlier reported that Globacom's Chairman, Mike Adenuga laid off over 90 of the married women saying he don't want them at Globacom (Gloworld friendship centre).

Why Glo?

If it's true then that's too bad. In developed nations if you try this then the company will definitely be folded by the Supervising Authorities or the Courts. But in Nigeria, who can touch Adenuga, he is one of the untouchables. May God help us.

Am not surprised.

They sabi gist @ work, instead of attending to the workload on ground.

Mike Adenuga is not ready to joke with his company.

Perfect move.

Next time, when they eventually receive another job. They will seat up and be focused.

Maybe that's why Glo has deteriorated, maybe they were not employed on merit, maybe this is a good move.

Just maybe, they think they need younger and more attractive young ladies to make men start porting their lines to glo network and also those who dumped their glo lines to come for reactivation grin grin

Globacom, will you ever change?
The women were sacked because they can no longer attract/convince men to buy glo products and services in their shops.

They will be replaced with young, fresh, beautiful and ready-to do-anything kind of ladies to keep the business going.

Nothing new here...the marketing strategy of the company runs on sexualizing female staffs to big Ogas and big customers.

Yes o I think they need to come out and protest. I almost discredited their claims when dis news broke out, untill after investigating from some unaffected glo staff that are my friends that I got d true picture! These young and beautiful ladies were sacked because of their Marital status!!!! Prior to their sack, they were all invited for a scheduled interview in Lagos which had many of these ladies traveled down from all d states only to get to d interview level and being asked ‘how many kids do u have?’ , where’s ur family and so on.... I think glo should try to see to dis and do d needful so as to redeem their image.

Sometimes women can be frustrating. One day I came to a bank to make some deposits, after filling d form, I went to one of d lady cashier, she acerbically said to me, meet d other man and d man as well said meet her, ha...automatically became a ball btw them. Trust myself, I opened fire and started shouting and say hey, u were carrying applications, trekking, submitting CV, looking 4 a job, promising dedication, hardworking, and now u have given d job, all what u promised now silked to d river. B4 a twirl of an eye one of their ogas heard me and intervened immediately. Women, fear them

I wonder why globacom boss like making things very difficult and complex for his employees or the job applicants who intend to work for his firm. Even after passing all the stages as an applicant, you are expected to have another interview with the boss which is most difficult. Even your style of walking, greeting or conversation with other applicants can disqualify you at this juncture.
