You are wrong sir

The so called white man from the clouds should not take the blame for the country's situation. Take away religion, Nigeria still won't develop if the leaders fail to change their ways.

Just so you know, China does not practise the kind of political system we have in Nigeria. Saying Nigeria should emulate the Communist system is like giving Buhari the power to declare Nigeria an Islamic state, and there wouldn't be anything anyone can do about it.

China today won't make a list of 100 countries with utmost respect for human rights. Is that the kind of country you want? Forget about religion, you really want to give a black man in any part of the world an absolute power to declare and implement?

Do you know the nature of internal politics going on in China? This declaration is obviously (from Beijing) targeted at folks on the Island (Taiwan) and their citizens in Mainland China. Just so you know, things like this are some of the reasons the Island declared its own independence some years back, because China always want to rule everybody and enforce its own laws regardless of what over 1 billion people think.

Mind you, Taiwan today is predominantly Christian (over 85% of the population) and Taiwanese citizens doing business on the Mainland would obviously be affected by these laws. This, for me, is the reason behind the draconic war against Christianity (what about other religions bro?) The declaration is mainly to oppress the Taiwanese and other Christian-minded dwellers.

Lastly, for the fact that Taiwan is predominantly a Christian state has not stopped the Taiwanese people from developing.. Go and check the facts, Taiwan's population can be likened to Lagos and the state is doing exceedingly well; with one of the most sophisticated electronics (chips) industry in the world. Yet the people go to Church.

You sha found a way to make It look as though China is against Christianity but you were happy in the previous thread when same thing happened to Muslims.

Attached is the religion in Taiwan. The state that is predominantly christian according to you.

.

Softly, softly dey lie o, bro. Taiwan's Christian population is barely 4% of the population (China's is about 2%). The dominant religions in Taiwan are oriental religions with Buddhists and Taoists accounting for nearly 70% of the population. East Asians (Chinese, Taiwanese, Japs, Koreans) are not very religious people at all. For those who are, it's more of a cultural identity than a life-governing belief system. Not everyone in the world waste their time on fruitless apocalyptic beliefs like Africans, especially Nigerians, waiting for the end of the world to save them from their misery.

Attached is the religion in Taiwan. The state that is predominantly christian according to you.

My bad, I had to check my source now and discovered that the stats I put up there only describe the state of aboriginal Taiwanese, not the entire Taiwanese population of today. Only 500,000 of the 23 million Taiwan population are aborigines.

However note that the Buddhism you see today in Tawian was enforced by China on the Taiwanese people years after the Dutch Missionaries came to Taiwan. China forced Buddhism on Taiwan, the same way Beijing of today is trying to oppress the Taiwanese government.

You see how China thinks? Banning the few aboriginal Christians from practising their faith but turning a blind eye to Buddhists? Is that what you want for Nigeria?

I'm more concerned about the hypocritical Communists and their stinky mode of reasoning. When it comes to technology, China is way ahead but the state of human rights is nothing to be proud of.

My other point is Christianity has never stopped any country from development. Majority of the atheist-centric countries you see today "dumped" the god factor after they had already attained some appreciable level of growth.

What is different between what China did/doing and our colonial masters?

Weren't Christianity and Islam enforced on us ?

Were Aboriginal Taiwanese Christians from inception?

Wasn't Christianity forced down their throats?

Aren't our traditional religions now tagged satanic?

Re: China Bans Christians From All Church Activities by Obi1kenobi(m): 12:33pm On Mar 21, 2018
Christians love to imagine themselves as being persecuted victims, but they are some of history's greatest religious persecutors, with the religion's greatest expansion coming first through the imperial power of the Romans, then the European colonial powers taking it to much of the globe even as they looted resources, displaced and ethnically-cleansed aboriginal populations and traded tens of millions of slaves across continents.

Right here in our very own Nigeria, Abrahamic religions (both Christianity and Islam) have proven they can't peacefully coexist with others. I remember when I was in UNN doing an assignment in a lecture theatre, where a fellowship came to start their meeting and some guy stood up delivering testimonies about how his church destroyed a shrine in his village and he was stating it with pride and getting applauded by the mugus all around, who didn't seem to understand that destroying people's shrines is religious persecution and those traditionalists have the same religious rights as they do.

Why would you want to TOUCH Christianity in the first place?

I'm telling you exact the reason why the average Taiwanese man no longer wants to associate with China in spite the long and common history. You don't always enforce people to behave in some ways against their wish.

Nobody forced Christianity on you. Christianity spread to Africa long before it got to Nigeria. First, it entered Ethiopia through an Ethiopian woman who saw the great and mighty works of Christ. How can a seemingly weak and harmless woman force Christian on Africans? Like the Ethiopian woman, the missionaries only came centuries later to propagate their beliefs, and not to enforce it through stringent laws and sanctions the way Beijing is currently doing to the Christian minority.

Why haven't the Leaders of UK, US, Canada, New Zealand and other developed countries shut down religion the way Xi enforce his opinion on over 1 billion people?

I'm more concerned about the hypocritical Communists and their stinky mode of reasoning. When it comes to technology, yes China is way ahead but the state of human rights is nothing to be proud of. This is why China, like Russia, is still regarded as emerging or developing country.

Human Rights is as important as GDP and HDI.. So develop all you can, if you don't respect basic human rights the way some so called Christian nations do, you won't and can't rub shoulders with the likes of Canada or US.

If there is one thing Norway is doing rightly to the extent is was named the most developed country in the world, it is the utmost respect for human rights - including the right to practise any kind of religion.

What does a movement opposing expanded economic pacts with China have to do with the fact that the overwhelming majority of Taiwanese are ethnic Chinese people? Taiwan, like Hong Kong, is basically a province of China that has escaped forceful reunification because the US and Western powers have supported them since Mao's communist revolution. The Korean peninsula is an ethnically homogeneous area where South Korea and North Korea are sworn enemies, but they are an ethnically indivisible group where many South Koreans have close family in the North and vice-versa. Geopolitics has nothing to do with ethnicity.

You're deluded. Christianity has been forced on you ever since you were a child. Somalis and Ethiopians are both closely related people in the Horn of Africa. If you grew up in Ethiopia, you became Christian. If you grew up in Somalia, you became Muslim. If you grew up in Nigeria in Zamfara, it is 90-something percent likely you would never be a Christian. If you grew up in Anambra, you became Christian. "Force" doesn't connote having a gun pointed at your head. You can be compelled to do things by all kinds of social and political and economic pressures. Your ancestors embraced Christianity because they had socio-political and economic motivations to do so, not because they were convicted in spirit about the wonders of Christ they could never experience. Christianity became a tool of education for our colonial masters. You embraced Christianity likely due to the basic social pressures of childhood indoctrination.

You're very ignorant.

Yes I was born into Christianity. However while I was growing up, I saw other options (Islam, Atheism, Traditional religion, etc.) and yet, I embraced Christianity because it is best for ME (body, spirit and soul).

Some of you were born Christians, but along the line, you choose the path of Atheism.. Why do you think the indoctrination for people like me is stronger than yours? If you could leave the path of Christianity, why can't I stay?

Why do you seem to have a problem with those who decided to stick with what they saw as best for themselves?

I'm only here to discuss the internal politics btw ROC and PRC. When it comes to belief systems, it is all man for himself/herself, that's why most countries have only one legally binding constitution - that neither defines support for a religion nor morality. As far as my religion/belief system does not conflict the constitution, why should you bother about where and how I exercise my faith?
