Getting jobs as not been hard for me, getting giid and constant pay is the main thing, Got a job immediately after service, left 3 months after, got 6 interviews after the job, some called with low offers < 60k, I've noticed if you're very good in your craft , companies will find you
Why Leave your Job?
And do you consider 50k salary not good enough for starters?

its a f.cuked up situation.
They say go for experience at first, oya make coys give you opportunity to intern, lie lie u no go see.

Them say u no get skills. u pay money to be trained in various skillsets, pay money to write professional certificates. You read your eye balls out just to pass, Still no show of work.

Its a f.cked up situation, then scammers start preaching entrepreneurship epistle just to sell e-books. Crypto currencies and forex guys tell you about being self made and making millions via phone/pc, all they can sell their signals to you.

Bet9ja promises you billions with as little as 100naira, only to collect the little you have saved up.

Then you have others who got employed via long leg or those who got rich via illegal means and those who were fortunate to be employed(forming inspirational speaker asap), look down on you despite your struggles and hustles. Naija is f.cked!!!

Bros this is a very wrong notion, The power of prayer can do the magic, see i graduated 8 years ago, life was so difficult for me till the extent that i started ridding okada until one day when i took a woman on the bike and she told me when i dropped her, that young man this okada is not your job pls go and pray and God will open the door for you, short the story, i even prayed at home, indeed a very serious prayer, and i applied for almost all the jobs i saw on the internet even for those i am not qualify for,and just two weeks later i received a text message from a giant construction company in lekki, went for interview and i was employed as an account and three months later i was promoted to a facilities manager in lekki, if i tell you what comes to my account in a month you wont believe it, that is the power of prayer.

It has not been easy on me. I don't even know the career path I want anymore. I am so lost with this job hunting. At present I work as a leasing agent although I am yet to serve. But, upon completion of NYSC I will be 26years of age. sad sad

I just feel lost out as I may not be able to work in places, I have desired because of their age limit as a requirement for recruitment. Even with my First-class in Agricultural Economics. My depression level goes higher the more. I only pray God will make a way for me when I get to that stage.

Bro, it is human to worry and think of the future. I was in your shoe last year. I graduated from University at the age of 27, that was 2016. I used to think and worry but I thank God today, I got a good job with one of the best food producing company a month after my NYSC despite my 2:2 degree grade.
I will advice you that anytime u worry and think about your future please back it up with serious prayer and use your allawee during nysc to do cheap professional courses. saving during NYSC is good but is better to use it to buy future.

Well everything depends on having a plan right before you graduated. Personally, i have always loved teaching or lecturing, as in, my level of enthusiasm for teaching is quite astronomical. In fact when i was in school, during my break(s), i made sustainable cash by teaching Govt, English and even Accounting(but my strength was GOVT) at tutorial centres for WASSCE and UTME respectively. As soon as i left service i had already set a salary scale in my mind for my self, as a starter in the teaching industry. Hence, i sought for my teaching job in a perceived highbrow area in Lagos, precisely, Ajah. N as a reminder i emerged with a 2.1 in Sociology Uni of Ilorin(Mad department). I had a strategy then(2014), i wrote like 5 application letters, officially enveloped with my attached CV(This strategy is now obsolete, if u follow my story). I had it in mind to visit 5 big schools around Ajah axis n drop my stuff. My confidence level was at its climax or apogee. Consequently, the first school i stumbled across(After doing some feasibility study by asking old residents around Ajah about the highest standard schools in Ajah in terms of salary), i enquired if there was a vacancy for my subject. Luckily, there was. I remembered telling the security that the job was mine. Dude smiled at me like see this Otondo"u sabi how many people don apply for this job". Fast forward, met the Principal n he told me to drop my CV n come back in subsequently 2 hours from then. I insisted i want my interview then n now.(this was a strategy to instill confidence for the job n show my tech-know how of the job). Immediately a micro-teaching was staged for me(deep down i knew the job was mine). I nailed the interview and the Director of studies later came to discuss salary with me. We finalised at 55k for a start(My target was even 50). I knew i needed to build an experience in a big school. So, i started humbly but with an ambitious mind. Fast forward to 2018. Since my first school, i have acquired Skills, training and certifications and today i am a certified Cambridge IGCSE History and Sociology Teacher. I have taught in two schools in Lekki. But my breakthrough came when i was referred to one of the biggest schools in Abuja( Now teaching has gone Digital with massive opportunities and great remuneration even bigger dan most multi-national coys in Lagos). I now go for international training in the UK and to mention a few.......So guys, especially young graduates who are intrinsically motivated to teaching, PM me i give you tips on how to go about it and i hope my epistle helps some graduates or unemployed youth out there. It's all about the mindset. Dont give up!

JARUSHUB:
Recently, we got this from our mail.

Hello,

I studied Counselling in school because I didn’t get Accounting and because I had started with ICAN exams before getting admission. I finished with 2:1. I completed ICAN exams recently (can’t get the ACA yet because of work experience requirement). I started with CFA too, passed level 1, I have registered for the 2nd level.

I finished service last year and I quite understandably expected to get a job almost immediately after service. I haven’t been able to get one thus far. So my question, do you think my course of study is working against me? Thanks

You completed your NYSC not long ago, and you’re complaining?

You’re very impatient. Job doesn’t come so fast for 90% of people irrespective of qualifications. I have friends that had first class in accounting (you had 2.1 in Counselling, right?) plus ICAN, and still spent up to a year at home before getting job. That is the reality. It is hardly out of place.

For me, not getting job within 6 months of completing NYSC, irrespective of one’s qualifications, is not yet a bad situation. Even recruitment processes of some companies (all stages of tests, interviews, medicals etc) take up to a year.

Your degrees will not land you job automatically, my brother.

Where did you study Counselling? I hope it is a recognized school. While your course of study (counselling) is not so attractive to employers in this part of the world, the fact that you had 2.1, got ICAN and CFA 1 qualifications is a good remedial strategy.

You did not tell me where you have applied to? What were you doing during your NYSC? Were you throwing your CVs around? How many companies have you applied to? Have you written any company test? If yes, did you pass?

No matter the qualifications one has, job will not come and meet anyone at home. One has to hustle.

I know many companies do not care about your course of study once you have 2.1. Good for you, you have more than 2.1, you also have ICAN qualification and already in stage 2 in CFA. The two issues I sense here are, one, you’re impatient and expected to get job on a silver platter and two, you don't appear to be equipped with right information. It hardly works that way.

If you’re below 26 years, have you applied to PwC, KPMG, Ernst & Young and Akintola Williams Deloitte? These are the Big 4 professional services firms that recruit people like you from time to time. They don’t bother about your course of study once you make 2.1 and you’re below 26 years of age.

Most banks also don’t care about course of study. There are many other firms like that.

You just need to get the right information and probably shed your mindset that your 2.1 will automatically land you job once you finished your NYSC.

My friends with ACA and CFA that you saw did not have that mindset. They loaded themselves with right information. And yes, it’s not so hard getting Accounting/Finance job with zero work experience once you get your strategy right and you can defend your qualifications by passing tests and interviews.

All the best.

The most confusing moment in one's life is immediately after NYSC.
At some point, I thought of becoming a tailor.
I later decided i would open a church.
Currently I'm focused on Sugar mummies. They pay at least.

How long is subjective.
To the wise, hustle should start immediately after WAEC.
To the semi-wise, hustle starts before or during nysc.
To the foolish, hustle starts after NYSC.

As for how long, destiny should take care of that.

Thats how life is. Many uncles diddnt get to your level of education and are not skilled. Maybe they are scared of you progress. And im from a tribe where they prefer to help strangers than themselves that okpe tribe for u.
The one that even managed to fulfill his promise had a different idea.
I take 60 percent and he takes 40 percent. Transport and feeding is from my 60 percent. Sometimes i end up getting lesser than his and the work is construction.
When i complained he says im an ingrate well. What choice do i have. But i use wisdom to claim ill and intentionally act like i missed some days. So i could get extra. Still applying here and there. I still have high hopes cuz i have made moves and looking forward to start another soon. Although the sharing job has been suspended for a while now. Im assisting my dads company in asset management. Still earning but it sucks been paid by your dad even though the pay beats the sharing with my uncle. Cant wait to resume a particular job i scaled through in an interview and a way better pay which i got through CONNECTION. cuz thats the easier way i swear. Keep posting cv here and there but dont put all your hope there cuz 5 out of 500 get lucky. I still post though.

Opinion: There is no specific time that is long or short. What is most important is that you are prepared when the opportunity surfaces. And being prepared means identifying the kinds of Job you want, the company you want to work for, the skill sets required and their recruitment procedure.

While you wait for your opportunity to knock, be sure you are prepared with regards to the pre-information you have about your dream job and company. Ensure your skill set for the job is 100% and remain positive while you wait.

If you know how depressed I am ehn... I made a mistake of not reducing my age before entering secondary school. I studied Industrial Chemistry and graduated with a cgpa of 4.23. I finished my NYSC program last November at the age of 28, most jobs I see online always come with lower age requirements and you know in my field of study I need to go for internship or graduate training to help me boost my cv n experience but age is a factor, to tell you how confused I am I worked for 2 months with a firm that paid me 20k/month as a marketing executive. I left the job because I spend over 20k as expenses(transportation and others) monthly. I'm still searching for job right now.

It's well, just keep applying, job will come, there's no definite time for it...
Please I need an advice on the right thing to do or direction to take in this situation I find my self

The fastest way to get a job is through referral aka man know man, so when you are in school, try to build a network because it will come in handy in the future.

I have worked in a fairly big organization and I have worked in start ups (where I handled recruitment for my team) and nothing beats having someone on the inside who personally hands over your resume to the person in charge of recruiting.

Most times, vacancies are announced internally weeks before it gets to the public and by the time it gets to the public, the hiring manager already has a group of people shortlisted for the interview.

me i need job brother, i studied industral design ( graphics ) but i can do any job that requires hands or administrative work and i have eyes for details.
