I graduated with a 2-1 in Petroleum Engineering and finish service last year November. since then, I have made several applications, I have gone to so many companies in Lagos to submit my CV. some wud tell you go online, everything is online. some u wud check their site nothing it happening.
I have took time to search for companies online, submit my CV on their site and some through mail, yet no invite. People I hoped on wud b of help don't seem to have anything to offer.
At the moment I feel so depressed and don't know wat to do.

Well everything depends on having a plan right before you graduated. Personally, i have always loved teaching or lecturing, as in, my level of enthusiasm for teaching is quite astronomical. In fact when i was in school, during my break(s), i made sustainable cash by teaching Govt, English and even Accounting(but my strength was GOVT) at tutorial centres for WASSCE and UTME respectively. As soon as i left service i had already set a salary scale in my mind for my self, as a starter in the teaching industry. Hence, i sought for my teaching job in a perceived highbrow area in Lagos, precisely, Ajah. N as a reminder i emerged with a 2.1 in Sociology Uni of Ilorin(Mad department). I had a strategy then(2014), i wrote like 5 application letters, officially enveloped with my attached CV(This strategy is now obsolete, if u follow my story). I had it in mind to visit 5 big schools around Ajah axis n drop my stuff. My confidence level was at its climax or apogee. Consequently, the first school i stumbled across(After doing some feasibility study by asking old residents around Ajah about the highest standard schools in Ajah in terms of salary), i enquired if there was a vacancy for my subject. Luckily, there was. I remembered telling the security that the job was mine. Dude smiled at me like see this Otondo"u sabi how many people don apply for this job". Fast forward, met the Principal n he told me to drop my CV n come back in subsequently 2 hours from then. I insisted i want my interview then n now.(this was a strategy to instill confidence for the job n show my tech-know how of the job). Immediately a micro-teaching was staged for me(deep down i knew the job was mine). I nailed the interview and the Director of studies later came to discuss salary with me. We finalised at 55k for a start(My target was even 50). I knew i needed to build an experience in a big school. So, i started humbly but with an ambitious mind. Fast forward to 2018. Since my first school, i have acquired Skills, training and certifications and today i am a certified Cambridge IGCSE History and Sociology Teacher. I have taught in two schools in Lekki. But my breakthrough came when i was referred to one of the biggest schools in Abuja( Now teaching has gone Digital with massive opportunities and great remuneration even bigger dan most multi-national coys in Lagos). I now go for international training in the UK and to mention a few.......So guys, especially young graduates who are intrinsically motivated to teaching, PM me i give you tips on how to go about it and i hope my epistle helps some graduates or unemployed youth out there. It's all about the mindset. Dont give up!
Bro, I sent you a pm... we got some interests in common
Thanks

The most confusing moment in one's life is immediately after NYSC.
At some point, I thought of becoming a tailor.
I later decided i would open a church.
Currently I'm focused on Sugar mummies. They pay at least.

How long is subjective.
To the wise, hustle should start immediately after WAEC.
To the semi-wise, hustle starts before or during nysc.
To the foolish, hustle starts after NYSC.

As for how long, destiny should take care of that.
Hahahaha
Chaiiiii... Guy you made my evening good. You are very funny but I totally agree with all you said. When I left NYSC in 2016 I didn't hope to get a job. As a matter of fact, I thought of becoming a tailor, but with family pressures I decided to get a job. I got one job with CAC in Abuja and it ended after few months and I was happy. Mind you, I made 2.1 in Accounting but I just don't like doing a Job. I don't know what is wrong with me, I am pleased with doing a business, then teaching because I love academics.
Currently I don't have a job and I don't feel bothered, all I need is capital to do business and that's even why I want to teach.

Hmmm, education is overrated walahi. You should be thinking of how to build your capacity to be self-employed so that you can be gainfully earning a living while waiting for a job after service. I don't even know what people go to school for these days...haba! You are already calculating the possible number of wait days...change your thinking abeg.
so true. I tell ppl that instead of going to skul in nigeria, just attend federal university of youtube. You'll learn more than your lecturer

seriously many Nigerian graduates are passing through difficulties.
I finish NYSC in April 2017, I applied for jobs online and even visited many companies in search of an opening but to no avail, I spent 5 good months at home without a job or any little source of income. I was totally depressed and confused about life when I realised that I have finished spending the little money I saved during NYSC. I studied Marketing with 2:2, people telling me it's easy to get marketing job, but the truth is that no job is easy to get because the marketing job itself is full of graduates from different disciplines. I'm currently teaching in a primary school with 20k/m just keeping the soul and body together, hoping to save little out of it and set up a business of my own no matter how little it's going to be. life is really hard in Nigeria if you have nobody.
I will never give up

Bros this is a very wrong notion, The power of prayer can do the magic, see i graduated 8 years ago, life was so difficult for me till the extent that i started ridding okada until one day when i took a woman on the bike and she told me when i dropped her, that young man this okada is not your job pls go and pray and God will open the door for you, short the story, i even prayed at home, indeed a very serious prayer, and i applied for almost all the jobs i saw on the internet even for those i am not qualify for,and just two weeks later i received a text message from a giant construction company in lekki, went for interview and i was employed as an account and three months later i was promoted to a facilities manager in lekki, if i tell you what comes to my account in a month you wont believe it, that is the power of prayer.

What's your opinion of atheists that didn't pray any prayer but got even a bigger job than you did?

Wow! So encouraging

Thats how life is. Many uncles diddnt get to your level of education and are not skilled. Maybe they are scared of you progress. And im from a tribe where they prefer to help strangers than themselves that okpe tribe for u.
The one that even managed to fulfill his promise had a different idea.
I take 60 percent and he takes 40 percent. Transport and feeding is from my 60 percent. Sometimes i end up getting lesser than his and the work is construction.
When i complained he says im an ingrate well. What choice do i have. But i use wisdom to claim ill and intentionally act like i missed some days. So i could get extra. Still applying here and there. I still have high hopes cuz i have made moves and looking forward to start another soon. Although the sharing job has been suspended for a while now. Im assisting my dads company in asset management. Still earning but it sucks been paid by your dad even though the pay beats the sharing with my uncle. Cant wait to resume a particular job i scaled through in an interview and a way better pay which i got through CONNECTION. cuz thats the easier way i swear. Keep posting cv here and there but dont put all your hope there cuz 5 out of 500 get lucky. I still post though.

Have u heard of dis quotes:
Heaven help those who help themselves.
Success is when preparedness meets opportunity.

Going to school prepares u and God links u with opportunities, if u r not prepared, u might not pass Buh if u r, den u wud sail tru.

prayer factor cannot b overstimulated.

Lol. In this kind of situation, no pay is too small. My first job after graduation paid 40k monthly. I was staying at Dopemu and the office was at Obalende. You can do the calculation with regards to monthly cost of transportation. God has changed my story though. 2+ years. I am selecting interviews to attend. I turned down offer of 230k/month net. That was last month. I was already ACCA chartered when i started the first job o. Didn't mind the pay. Irrespective of the pay, graduates should just engage in job that will add value to them for a start. Then continue praying to God. He's faithful and rewards the diligents.

Like what pay exactly for a start?

Even with the best of education and qualifications, you still need God. I am a witness, God deals with those that rely on him in miraculous manner.

Well, you make a very good point there but when you pray and you see the result, that does not mean that is where God is taking you to, it might just be a stepping stone to a better one, see if you don't have any relationship with God there is a limit to where you can get to in life, in few years time God is definetly taking me to a place that is far greater

Some are mentioning 20k, 30k, 100k per month. Are y'all serious?. 100k = $300. For a full month of hustle and hard work?
I'd rather join yahoo. $1000 comes easy in yahoo.

My brother not all graduates are thieves. Clearly yahoo is another form of stealing and not with gun.
And don't mention politicians cuz thats the biggest excuse of every fraudster
No worry this is how your money will come monthly if you are not careful

Some people are meant to be poor anyway.

Some people are definitely gonna die poor

I have seen many yahoo boys that sprayed money in clubs, buy mega expensive cars and even built houses at the end of it all they lack financial management knowledge and end up selling it all. They find it hard to earn money the clean way and when its all gone they start involving themselves in fetish acts and armed robbery cuz they are addicted to quick money. Some die. Some run mad. Some go to prison. Its karma.
No be today yahoo dey. I had friends too living large counting dollars and traveling to dubai earning 10k dollars/week, some even got robbed of 10 to 15 millions naira due to someone getting the western union details and they dont feel it cuz the money they get is too much. They all gave me space cuz their level and my own aint the same. They always dissed me that i know far more than they do in computers yet im wasting my knowledge.
I felt bad and sad. My parents raised me never to steal but put yourself in the position of the person you're stealing from

I see them now and i thank God for delivering me from temptation. Cuz nobody likes rise and fall. They fell hard and cant get up, instead they become thugs. The mad ones are cocaine addicts.

So if its yahoo u wanna do carry on I'm not stopping you but dont be dumb and think maga is gonna keep paying forever although its way safer than armed robbery or drugs.

There's a lot I would've loved to say but I have little time.
I've graduated and served several years ago.
The system doesn't work for the ordinary man in Nigeria.
