@ekpotek are you saying embassies do not verify bank statements ? You said no banks have the right to give them applicants account balance so how do they verify it ?
They have trained people that carry out verification of statements.

I've got a question please. I want to apply for a UK visiting Visa for my parents. And I need all the information I can gather on documents and all to get for them. They are both petty traders. I'd gladly appreciate your response.

Thanks.

Hello Phenmeson,

Thanks for responding to my post. I have a quick question for you about your passport renewal. I just applied for my daughter's passport and i was given two appointment days to attend in London; one for interview and another date for passport appointment booking (probably the day biometric is going to be captured). My question is did you attend on both days? I don't understand the need to have to go to London on two separate days; it is definitely not convenient for those of us outside of London.

I'd love to renew my passport before my trip but as the guys have mentioned earlier, i cannot do so until it has less than 6 months expiry and that should be in June. Maybe i will have to try my luck and book an appointment for mid June and pray it comes out before October.

After you make the final payment, follow the interview date on the Payment receipt. You only go there once. You can go to post office and get a return emvelop. Fill your address on it. When the passport is out, they will post it to your house address

I fulfilled the conditions required to practice my profession in the UK, paid for my license, applied for a job, got an offer, my employer applied for the COS and issued me the COS.

Thanks for the info. I live over here & just need it for my Uncle. I gave him the link of gov.uk but he said the companies on Tier 2 are asking him to pay money to re-build his CV

I don't think they will ask for account balance. They will ask applicant's bank to confirm if the account actually exist

This statement is not entirely true.
Have you worked in a Bank before? Or have you worked in the department that process Embassy enquiries?
Yes, you are right about the document being sent back to the bank fgor confirmation, and in doing this, the bank has the responsibility to confirm the name, address, transactions and balance (as at the date the statement was printed) and all the other transactions that you rpinted along that statement. They may not confirm the future balance (that is a day beyond the day of print - notice the word MAY). But it is their responsibility to confirm that every piece of information in the document (bank statement in this case) that you submitted to the embassy is true (which includes your balance)

Now, for those applying for education, the embassy has the right to confirm that what you claim you have, is still what you have as at the date the statement was confirmed.

I hope this clears your doubts.

ekpotek:

I have read a lot of refusal letters on the forum and I have not seen any, in which the ECO refer to verification of current account balance. In all the cases, the ECO refered to the balance in the tendered bank statement and date of submisstion. Have you ever visit a bank to request for account balance that is not you own? Will the bank obliged you? The embassy can only call your bank to verify if the bank statement you submitted is genuine or not and not the current balance. That’s the much they can do. That’s why embassy insist on signed bank statement. Only EFCC or ICPC or police has the power under Nigerian laws to access your bank account without your consent. This in itself require a court order.

[/quote@ekpotek, you know book. The best embassies can actually do is to review statements. They have people who are trained to carry out such reviews. You will never find any refusal notice where an ECO will refuse an applicant based on "after calling your bank, we were told your statement was not issued by the bank". We therefore refuse your application following our findings from your bank. UK embassy has its standard when it comes to bank statement.

They have experts that carry out such verifications to see if any submitted statement meets their standard.

My time line for six months visa application.
Wednesday 7th March: Biometrics taken at tsl Abuja (it took about 32 mins)
Tuesday 13th March: Received generic email from Sheffield acknowledging receipt of my online application.
Tuesday 27th March: Received two emails from tsl on decision and passport collection advices respectively.
Wednesday 28th March: Passport collected. Visa issued on 23rd March.
Abuja TSL Staff were very professional and courteous. However avoid rush hours if you can ie between 10am and 1pm.
Best of luck.

Congrats. Kindly share details of the docs you submitted so that visa hopefuls could learn

Thanks for your responses Prof. If our budget for the trip is 1.5M out of 2M savings, is it Ok for our visas to be issued?
justwise:

Yes you can explain that in the form.

Whether 2M will be enough will depend on your budget for the trip.

Oh, really.... I have always known almost all of these from those who work in the department saddled with this responsibility (despite my having not worked in the bank) and have wondered how people are bold to use fake/doctored bank statements for their visa applications that can easily earn them some ban.

But then, @Ekpotek wasn't far from the correct approach at all which made you use the words NOT ENTIRELY. I know we actually give powers to them to do these confirmations you listed above (up to account balance as at when statement was printed) the moment we sign those visa application forms with conditions attached, the new twist to the knowledge for me now, and maybe him, is the concluding paragraphs as bolded above and your emphasis in between on the word MAY too. Do they really exercise this much ability to verifying statements, I mean transactions from a day after statement is printed? Will ask around still sha....

Ekpotek and Justwise,

I need a clarification on this- my wife's sister and her husband in UK invited us for a family reunion but the documents submitted and account statements were for the husband (being the sponsor).

We were rejected on the basis that the documents sent doesn't show we re related. However, we intend to reapply with my wife's sister birth certificate, marriage certificate and pictures of my wife and her sister.

Also, we are attaching the various emails, telephone chats etc. I have included this in the cover letter that the wife is a sister to my wife.

Are we in order with this application? What do we need to add again?

Hello nairalanders, I want to share my testimony. This year has really been a great year, I have received US(5yrs), Netherlands(schengen) and UK visa. My UK visa was just delivered by courier about 30 mins ago.
I once asked if it was possible to transit through UK from Barcelona on my way to USA without a UK visa, there were missed reactions and answers, but I had paid for a non refundable ticket from London to new York already and didn't know what to do. Prior to asking that question here, I had already applied for a UK visa to visit for only 1 day (hoping to get the usual 6 months). So I booked a hostel for £20, and made a flight reservation R/T on easyjet for £70 , and them my living expenses was budgeted at £100 for my 1day or 1 night stay(if you remember I asked a question on the number of days between 23rd and 24th here).
My bank balance was only £940 and only grace has made it possible. 6 months visa granted. NB: I am a Ghanaian and a student

Timeline
March 24: submitted online application
March 28: biometrics done at TLS Accra
No emails no correspondence nothing, and there was that long Easter holidays
April 13: ukvi email enquiry, they replied with a standard line, it pained me that I had paid £5.48 for a standard email, your application is under consideration and blah blah
April 20: called ukvi, I was told decision had been made a few days ago
April 23: received TLS email of decision made, ready for collection and sent by courier
April 24: courier delivered at my school, visa stamped on 17th april , visa start DAT is in June expires in December

To all those waiting to apply, I wish you the very best and above all seek the face of God, these few days have drawn me very very close to God.
