My own take: this decision might not favor parents absolutely, but children n generation, kids would have good education and live to fulfil their dreams unlike in Nigeria with slim chances, which even looks bleaker each day(50% and now (10%) this decison is wise and makes it far better than present and future nigeria

Nigerians are just too desperate. You see somebody doing well here will leave his job and move to Canada

They are living not because of the financial breakthrough that's involved, but because they want to live and enjoy life where the system works and most especially for the betterment of their kids.

So, i have a Problem with Some Nigerians, who always try to discourage people from coming over.
If life is so difficult, in Canada or the U.S, why not return home and then start leaving a better life as they put it.
Our Destinies are different, if you are under a spell that you can't make it in Canada or abroad, that does not mean others can't.
For those who also think, U.S or Canada is heaven, please wake up from that dream, if you put in effort you get results.
If you work, you get reward, in the beginning, it's never easy.

For me one thing i know, is that as long as you work hard, and stay persistent in the end it pays.

I always tell friends, who want to come over. In the beginning, it's not easy, but everyday you see hope. there is a ray of light.
It's unlike leaving in Nigeria where you remain dormant for years, with things not looking promising unless you have got connections.
I always liking it to Any Nigerian Moving from Lagos to Abuja, believe me, settling is not easy too.
It would take months and probably years to settle in and understand Abuja well.
Same applies to relocating abroad.
If you have friends and families, the easier it is for you to settle.
One reason people relocate is not Just for Jobs, but wanting their kids and offspring, to lead a better life.
For the Youths still in their prime, those who just finished their BSc. if you can, it's best you come through a Masters degree, that way you can settle in easy and understand the system.
There are Still schools out there giving out scholarships.
Wish you all success.

Nigerians like the bandwagon effect. There are many countries to travel to, but EVERYBODY face Canada. I know Nigerians who are millionaires (in Euros) in Portugal, Chezck Republic and Germany, and a lot are thriving in the Scandinavia. Nigerians always play the ball where belle face.
but these aforementioned countries are not English speaking countries now

And am sure you weren't jobless for their three years o. You must have been engaged doing something for you to be able to get back to practicing your profession. Possibly raising money to sit for tgr required exams for both of you to be able to practice. But in Nigeria someone can actually be jobless for 5-6 years without any hope in sight

The emphasis is of this post is on people who were relatively okay in Nigeria but decided to go abroad and start all over again.
That's crazy!
Living perpetually in debts is no life. But it seems you guys are already used to it.

But whether you say it's small or not, at least I am living well here and building an event center in Owerri. So I think I am just fine. When I geft the paying job, then I get it.

How long can you do what you are doing? I am happy you are doing something back home you can fall back to.
But trust me, when you become a family man, your expenses and responsibilities will skyrocket so much so that you may end up on credit cards. God forbid!

Pamela, thank you very much for telling them the truth but hey! The will neva listen ooo. Aja to ba maa sonu, ko ni gbo fere olode layeee( a dog that would go missing would always defer the sound of his master's whistle). My friend, a branch manager in a first generation bank resigned, sold his landed property and jetted out to canada with the whole family 5 years ago yet, no jobs. He keeps amassing canadian paali yet, no sign of getting a paying job anytime soon. The country would build a standard for you, provide gas, heater and washing machine in your home(same with yankee). You dare not say you're not gonna use it because whether it's used or not, the bill is fixed and you must pay monthly. What is left is meager. Meanwhile as a branch manager, he was earning 700k, with an official car. This guy had access to fat loan facilities with ridiculously low interest rates, which he could have invested in farming, almost free money oo. Now, he's spent 5 years already with no hope of making ends meet. He can't even think of coming back sef. His colleagues back home are now directors and deputy directors. Nigeria is the most fertile land on earth unfortunately, our people are too blind to see the opportunities inherent in the land. An indian or a chinese would come to nigeria with one shirt and a trouser but in a few years, he's a millionaire in dollars. What is wrong with naija peeps sef. Canada that nigerians who have become grandpa, who relocated when things were good are now planning to leave because of their dwindling economy, is where nigerians are rushing into, all in the name of greener pasture that does not exist anywhere, SMH. Had Seun Osewa relocated to canada with his vast IT experience, I doubt if he would be smiling to the bank the way he's doing today. Abi I lie Seun? grin . seriously, we need to think deeply before taking a decision so we don't shoot ourselves in the leg. I'm yet to see such a fertile land as Nigeria.

One thing that OP refused to understand is the fact that most people relocate to Canada to have the future of their kids secured. Like you rightly pointed out, with Canadian education and job experience (Industrial training), it becomes easy for them to thrive. May be you should look at it from that angle too.

God bless you.
But, unfortunately OP is myopic who can't see further than the present time.

Free primary and secondary education is no big deal. We have similar here.
But those other things are bound to render the average immigrant indebted.

Very sure about tgr children support of $500 prr month per child. About the free education that you said it not big deal. I want to ask you if you can put your kids in those schools that offer free tuition here and expect your children to have world class education and training compared with what they'll have in Canada. How about holiday jobs internships and all. The opportunities for them to be employed after graduation even outside Canada. These are some of the benefit I'm talking about
