Whenever I go to lagos, the very day I complete my assignment,, I head straight back to Abuja. If it's so late that I cant catch the last flight, I will go to jibowu and enter night bus.
Lagos traffic drives me crazy.

But Abuja is not an organic city

There's no basis for comparison. I know everywhere there is to know in both cities. Abuja is no where near Lagos.
And besides you can't cover a distance of 13km in 30 minutes anywhere in Abuja in the morning...not when you left home at 7:30 am.
Travelling that far from home to work, she's definitely residing outside the municipal or somewhere within AMAC a bit removed from the city center and there is nothing exciting about living in Abuja slums.
On a serious note, all the high-end neigbourhood in Abuja are equivalent to mid-level in Lagos, no hating.

Of course this is no brainer at all. I have stayed in both Lagos and Abuja, but I tell you that I can never live in Lagos! I had to sublet my rented apartment at Palmgroove before it expired and ran back to the East. Since then, I have no regret whatsoever. I still visit Lagos anyway for business or to visit my sister but I don't stay more than a couple of days. I still wonder how people cope with life in Lagos, the quality of life there is abysmally poor. I prefer Abuja, Owerri or Enugu than Lagos.

I pass this road everyday. Do you know I don't even see the water beside it? Because of fence.
Water front that is ment for all the citizens to see, go to and enjoy is fenced off for only the rich.

Is it not overseas somebody will travel to before one can even see water? Ikoyi had a visible water front view for every common man to enjoy. But the rich fenced it off.

One thing I observed about most lagosians is that they are totally ignorant of other parts of the country.

Abuja sweet oh, no be lie...especially d hold up issues, na only us wey dey come from Masaka, Mararaba 2 Nyanya dey mostly experience hold up...and if you compare Abuja hold up to Lagos Hold up, e be like Good luck Jonathan certificate and Oga Buhari own...one na PhD d other na NEPA bill....

nyanya/town holdup is time bound 7-9 or 10am, 5-7or 8pm (though very frustrating). But lagos holdup has no timetable. From morning till night, everywhere, from monday to sunday. Haba.

Let me also add this; my time in was a short period but i truly enjoyed it. I love the roads network. I love the fact that roads in Abuja are spacious compare to the one in Lagos. Wow you just have to be here and see the roads. Wuse maitama.. I love it.
Abuja is clean and is in its pristine state. Gotcha love it but sun can be very annoying o i have to put my shade on anytime I dey waka for road. Come see teeth suffering n smiling.

Lagos is Lagos. I love the lifestyle.. amazing night views

I hate dense population of Lagos.. it is very annoying.

Anyway you can't have it all. It's like new york and Los Angeles.

Anyone who have visit both cities knows the difference. It's crystal clear. Even the money in Lagos go still finish for Lagos with you even looking for more. Rather take a 50k job in Abuja than a 100k job in Lagos.

Lagos is the economical nerve centre of Nigeria while Abuja is political nerve centre of Nigeria.

I've lived in Lagos and Abuja. But Lagos ain't what it used to be and coming back from diaspora it's an easier transition to move to Abuja than Lagos.

Abuja in my opinion beats Lagos if you already have money and want a sane calm pretty looking place to live. Lagos isnt for everyone not everybody can deal with the stress and strain that comes with Lagos life. Truth be told I still miss it in my heart but not sure I can live there again.

God bless you. A friend of mine working in Lagos went to London for Masters degree. After enjoying London for 1 year, he swore not to go back to Lagos. Pleaded with his office to transfer him to their regional office in Abuja, which they did. He flew from UK to Abuja. He went to Lagos just once, to pack his belongings and that's it.

You made some valid points but I think she's referring to comparing the two cities from "an individual's" perspective. While it's true that Lagos has the GDP of many states combined how does that truth play out to your individual everyday life? Does it make your life in Lagos nicer or easier or less stress free? I think that's what she means.
Lagos may have all the money but what is the quality of life like? It's not like they are sharing the money for people who live in Lagos.
Regards to things like fun there's no one to compare to the level in Lagos. But you can catch fun anywhere plus how many days a week do you spend catching fun?
It's really a tale of two cities. If I was just starting of in life I might pick Lagos but if im established I'd prefer the saner,safer environment of Abuja.

All the vices found in Lagos are same in big cities. New York is full of go slow, has slums and it heavily congested when compared to Washington but you dare not compare the two cities even in your sleep.
