kennysville and andrew, thank you both for a very sound analysis right there!

Most fans think that speed in football is all about pace. That's totally wrong! Speed in football is all about time-space management. This entails proper reading of the game to cover passing lanes when you lose the ball and freeing up yourself receive pass when in the offense. To break it down to elementary school levels, it's denying your opponent the time and the space to operate. Like the legendary Xavi said “At Barcelona we understand football as a time-space concept”.

I concur look at Ebuehi, Nice Positioning& Reading of Game!

You can have speed still not be able to influence any game!!!!

Positioning really matters alot in football, you wonder why the likes of Pogba, De bruyne, Carrick,Yaya toure cope with EPL Because they know how to position themselves

Etebo was a left winger for Warri Wolves ? I have to check that.

Clubs will not take players who are bent on playing only their natural roles. Which is why you see players who would say they are willing to play any role to help the team. It’s all about the teams needs at every giving point in time.

Yes, he was actually a winger/ss when he was with Warri Wolves and Pinnick was the club's chairman while a certain incompetent Aigbogun was the coach

I'm not too sure. I'm a big fan of his but he isn't playing anywhere close to his best. I wouldn't be surprised if he got dropped for Agu

Joel obi is needed because Ndidi case is not clear enough, if you need someone to get dirty and make tackles trust me Joel is the man for the JOB!!! Like someone said earlier that why he get injured easily.

Playing in Italy you need to be dirty and what the JOB of DM

Nobody runs away from this fact. It's a mute point. We are looking at effectiveness and the best position for him not whether he starts or not. Iwobi starting or not starting is not an issue for me particularly now that S. Moses is probably out of contention. The quality of his play is my concern. Till date you've not convinced me that Iwobi is effective on the wings. You just keep saying he is a starter. Starting is not gold. Effectiveness is. His career prospects, our WC prospects hinges not on whether he starts but on his effectiveness. No coach ever buys a player because he is a starter. Effectiveness is the premium quality coaches look for.

Once again proof to us that Iwobi is effective from the wings.

These are Iwobi and Simon's stats during the WC qualifiers.

Decipher

1. Iwobi
2. Simon

Official- Gent Star Moses Simon Finally Ruled Out Of The World Cup
June 1, 201804

Gent star Moses Simon has been officially ruled out of the World Cup 2018 in Russia after latest scan indicated that he will be out for two more weeks, Owngoalnigeri.com can exclusively reveal.

His mentor Mohammed Mowiz Suleiman revealed that the result of the scan he had in London confirmed that he will miss two more weeks and coach Gernot Rohr thought it wise to drop him from the team.

“Simon called to tell me of the unfortunate news around 1:42pm Nigerian time. The scan was held yesterday but the result came out this afternoon. He will be fit in few days time but there are fears that he could suffer a relapse “, Mowiz told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He has already spoken with Rohr over the unfortunate incident and it’s best for him to put the disappointment behind and move on with his career. It’s a sad end to his journey to the World Cup which started from the first game in the qualifiers”.

No you need to read because what you are saying now has already been said before

i explained in details what most 4-2-3-1 is all about, you just dey go back and forth repeating what has been said before

grin

Perhaps you've led many Dudes astray with your crass Details. I can bet it you're simply following the Team emotionally and sentimentally Sir.

Tactically, Rohr played two Formations mostly during the qualifying Matches. Offensively the Team played 4 - 3 - 3 while reverting to 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 defensively.

Sir, football has transformed from an Art to a Science. It requires paying Attentions to every Detail. It's easier for Players like VicMo, Simon and Musa to perform with the Tactics than Iwobi - playing on the Wing.

Do you care to know why? They get the Pace and the Work-rate far better than Iwobi. Seem you think Arsenal played 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 Formation in the just concluded Season?!

Once again Sir, Football ain't an Art anymore, the Epoch has died with the Samba Football. At the Moment, football has transformed to a Science - take Germany and Pep tutored Teams as Studies to get clear Picture.

Rohr: Super Eagles Will Score Many Goals At World Cup
June 1, 2018 2:25 pm

By Richard Jideaka, Abuja:
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has assured that the lack of goals in the Super Eagles will be resolved before the start of the World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Super Eagles have scored only two goals in their last three friendlies against Poland, Serbia and Democratic Republic of Congo.

“I am not worried that the Super Eagles have not scored much in recent games because I know we have what it takes to score goals and I believe my players will score plenty of goals at the World Cup in Russia,” Rohr told Complete Sports.

“We are working very hard to get our attackers scoring goals again. It is not as if we can’t score goals, it is just that we were trying out new formations and trying out new players in different roles. “Now that we have pruned the team to a manageable size, it is time to perfect our strategy for the World Cup

“Nigerians should believe in this team to deliver at the World Cup. By the time we finished playing England and Czech Republic and go into our final camping for the World Cup, all the flaws will be corrected and we are ready to go.”

Nigeria are in the same World Cup group with Croatia, Argentina and Iceland.

I.e as an inverted winger. A few people have said the same. It honestly depends on who is playing in the middle. He can obviously swap positions with an Ozil but not a Mikel. This is why I've been advocating for moving Mikel a bit deeper. Play Iwobi or even Etebo (if you're afraid of Iwobi's workrate) in front. When you have Iwobi - Etebo - Vic Moses or Simon Moses - Iwobi - Vic Moses behind Ighalo/Iheanacho, what you have is a very mobile and fluid front 4 capable of interchanging position at will.
A Mikel as a Dlp can still be a big creative influence. Build up play will be better and they'll still be enough creativity in the final third.

That's exactly what most Dudes here don't wanna understand. Comparing Iwobi at Arsenal with Iwobi in GWG is absolutely wrong.

You've really addressed it clearly in the bolded Parts. For Iwobi to thrive, he must play behind the Striker [as a 10 or 8] , but right now we've got too many DMs/CMs in the Squad hence Mikel can't be added to the List.

I would have preferred your Concept if I'm in charge, cos its a great Idea - apparently we gonna feel and enjoy the fluidity of the Team as well as entertaining Transition of Ball from Defence to Attack.

However, Rohr ain't gonna play Mikel in a Deeper Role, the Reason is; I'm a bit convinced Joel will make the final List. He's gonna play in a Deeper Role slightly behind Mikel as a CM, while either of Ndidi or Onazi plays as a DM.

I won't be surprised if Ogu is eventually but unfortunately dropped from the 23-Man List. Guess you wanna know the Reason?! Onazi and Ndidi as DMs, Agu and Joel as CMs, Obi and Etebo (based on Rohr's Tactics so far) as AMs.

Instead of Etebo as an AM, I would have preferred Iwobi as an AM while Etebo is classed among the Forward as a Winger. He gets the Qualities to excel as a Winger not as an attacking Midfielder.

Honestly i’d Prefer Mikel as a CM. He will help us control the midfield even better without us losing that passing range, with Iwobi upfront. I’d rather play Musa as LW. Guys, Musa is in the form of his life going by how he ended the season. Credits to CSKA coach. I though he did pretty well against Congo DR even in that yeye pitch.

Croatia Defender Corluka More Worried By Musa Than Messi

1 June 1, 2018 10:53 am

By Johnny Edward:

Croatia defender Vedran Corluka has pinpointed Ahmed Musa as one of the main threats in the Super Eagles team ahead of their opening Group D clash at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Got something to say? The let your voice be heard! Back Pass *Sport related topics only*
Both players featured in the Russian Premier League last seaso and are expected to be named in the final squads for Nigeria and Croatia who will face off at the Kaliningrad Stadium on the 16th of June.

Argentina and Iceland are the other teams in the group.

Musa, one of the experienced players in Nigeria’s World Cup bound squad, played for CSKA Moscow on loan from Leicester City last season, scoring seven goals in 16 appearances.

“I have not been thinking much about Messi, because we face Nigeria first, a match that will determine our chances of reaching the next round,” Corluka who plays for Lokomotiv Moscow told net.hr.

“I know some Nigerian players, especially Musa from CSKA Moscow.

“He (Musa) is very fast, pretty good and it will not be easy for us.

“Every group is tough, everyone will come prepared. Against Brazil we will play the maximum because it is not possible for such a rival.

“Messi is phenomenal, everyone will enjoy playing against him, but this is not important for us.”

Musa has scored 13 goals in 69 international appearances for the national team since he made his debut in 2010.
