You are absolutely right, it is vague. Much will depend on how you repackage your application, especially your Sop. Sometimes faced with so many applications and little time to make a decisions, the VOs have generic already prepared statements like this on their computers that just begin to draw from and slap on applicants. If I tell you how many GCMS notes of people I have read with almost the same wordings as yours, you will be amazed. The crux of the matter from what I can tell from the GCMS, is convincing the VO that you will return to Nigeria. Don't do the mistake many applicants make when reapplying, making similar statements like they did before in the previous application. If you have been refused before, when reapplying, your SOP should be a rebuttal of the statements that the VO outlined as reasons for refusal of previous application . After you have done that foremost, then you can go ahead and tackle other things that the Vo didn't mention. Leave no stone untouched.

You can show the VO your bonafides as genuine student by emphasizing your academic strength on your transcript and pointing to other places in the record that compels the belief that you will attend school and not merely using a student permit as a way of facilitating entry to Canada.

You can show that you will return to Nigeria by presenting strong family ties. It is not enough to submit a marriage certificate and birth certificate of your children. You must talk about the close knit and loving family you have and how going to Canada would be hard on the family. Anyone can have a family, but it takes a person of character to take family seriously.

You can also show other ties that bind you to your home. Property and investment and job prospects. Take an extra step if you have property, to follow through with the valuation of the land by a registered quantity surveyor, including a detailed plan of the property. Don't just present the property documents. Talk about how you stand to be a beneficiary of the property or investment if its not in your name. Include pay slips and show that your job prospects back to Nigeria are great by what you would study if you don't have a job yet.

Give details of your planned program and how it would translate back to Nigeria on return. Talk about why you decided to study abroad and not Nigeria. Reasons like a foreign education is highly respected in Nigeria in themselves, hardly pass. Show how such respect for a foreign degree in Nigeria applies personally to you and what you intend to do for Nigeria.

Admitting weakness or showing remorse is very powerful in a SOP. It makes you credible before a VO.

Keep everything concise, straight and to the point. Don't start giving away answers or voluntarily revealing information that was never asked from you. Your evidence assembled should do a majority of the talking for you. Good luck reapplying again. One denial is never fatal to an application if the right steps are followed in tackling previous refusal.

My five cents.

Deep...I greet you oh

Please I need information on schools that are currently giving admissions.?

Around what time are applications for admissions always rolled out?

Is there any website where information about admissions are always made available for schools in USA?

Please I really need help with the questions above.

Thanks

Actually Harde, he is right! The old passport (not visa/s) will be cancelled without prejudice. That doesn't invalidate the visas contained therein. Only thing is that it's the new passport that will be stamped going forward.

This puts the matter to rest. However, our brother can only renew 6 months to when the passport expires and will have to wait till 6 months to or he can declare the passport missing. For a missing passport, he will have to travel to Abuja to capture (plus 45k) and the new passport will take 1-6weeks to be out depending on your connect in Abuja. Going through local immigration officers will delaybthe process because they will still send the work to Abuja.

But if you wait till the day it is 6 months to expire, depending on your where you apply, you can get a new one that day.

I renewed February 2018 for a passport that would have expired August 2018. The old passport was cancelled without prejudice and the new passport was stolen by armed robbers April 5. There was an little scarcity of passport in Abuja, but a new one was issued April 13 and activated April 18. I did not have to recapture because I captured within 6 months.

Thanks ratawu for responding to my issues, actually, the professor in Canada, actually wrote on the relevance of the course, how it an excellent fit for my previous academic qualification, employment prospect, recommendation, telling the VO he strongly advice them to approve my visa as a genuine student.. as for my lecturer here in Nigeria, he tackled how the course is needed here in Nigeria and all.. am just afraid, I shouldn’t have added them..the letters look cool, but just scared the VOs might see it another way! I tried to tackle the reasons I was denied tho..have not seen anybody collected letter from school.. mo gbe ooooo

The letter from the school and your Nigerian professor will do nothing but further help you. The VO is not bound to follow them if their assertions are not supported in other places in the record. But the letters you speak of will definitely help further make your case if that is what you are worried about. You are better of having the letters than not having them submitted as part of your application. Good luck as you wait and stay expectant.

Goodmrn could someone help lay my concerns to rest. I submitted my online application last week and I accidentally skipped the correspondence from my Uni that ask me not to pay tuition until arrival because they have no refund policy in existence so it's money to thin air if outcome is negative and also my student transcript won't come out from the school called University of Ibadan after like 4months, (such an amazing school). But every other docs were intact, does this really affect ones chance?. Though I know visa approvals in our Naija lately has bin by grace

I think I read somewhere here some people arguing whether you have to take biometrics again, if you applied before. Yes is the answer, every time you apply for visa, you have to submit a biometrics. This is a way to ensure every time you apply, its you who is actually applying. See Link below from CIC itself.

Hey bro,
You can own two passports ( Expired and unexpred). Not two unexpired though!

The expired one will be stamped “cancelled without prejudice”.. And however, if you have valid visa on the expired passport you can still use it. So, the best way is to merge your passports together while traveling. The guy should merge both expired and new passport together while traveling. I have travelled many times with it like this without any problem.

Kudos to all contributors on this platform, could you please give advice on my academic transcript. My school prefers sending to requested institution and not by hand, will it be okay sending unofficial copy as part of my visa application? Thanks

The most important consideration is if you CAN pay your tuition and living expenses.
I hope you don't have any unfulfilled condition in your uploaded admission letter.
Last last na God get power.
To upload a very important document, you can send it via e-mail but I don't think that correspondence is that important

You can upload your certificate and maybe unofficial transcript but ensure your university has received the official copy.

That will change with effect from July 31st

Yeah. People that applied before July 31, 2018 and got rejected will still need to give biometrics again. Also, those that applied before that date and got their TRV will still need to give biometrics again when they want to renew. However, those that apply on July 31, 2018 or later need not give biometrics again until after 10 years.

If CIC needs you to pay tuition before approval, they will send you an email to that effect. Then, you will forward the correspondence letter to them.

I am reporting live from VFS. I can confirm that booking is still ongoing and has come to stay. By next month booking is going online.

I have a bit of challenge, I had to abandon my medical because children practice hospital is having system downtime since yday and I am running out of time for fall resumption. I believe maybe today or tomorrow the system issue will be resolve.

How can I update my medical after paper submittion?
