Ensure to finish with this high GPA. You will get lots of scholarship when you apply to study abroad. Don't let anyone discourage you at all.

What will that earn you in this country? There are a lot of first class graduate in the street, while will have a graduate with Pass doing well in an Oil company. Just pray to God to bless your efforts. I started my first year with 4.51 and since then I told God to bless it for me and I stopped reading like the way I used to do like before. Glory be to God, He answered all my prayers during my undergraduate and bless me with a 6 digits job and also with a managerial role. Please, always tell God to bless your efforts and not the grade. Funny enough, we only produced crammers and not a potential first class. Let me quickly ask you this; how many academic publication did you have? How many problem have you proffer a lasting solution to in respect to Accounting as a course? You rely on the archaic lecture note you lecturers are using to teach you and you are here telling us how good you're in cramming. Go and watch "The three idiots".

You need to have a life and book balance. Join Aiesec or some other clubs that will help you network and build your social skills. It can also help you in becoming a public speaker

The university is not about read read read!

Also work towards getting a scholarship for Masters in Canada once you finish. Canada allows you to stay for 3years after graduation in order for you to gain experience.

Don't join negative activity. You're only there for 4years. Your life begins once you leave the campus.

As for me, I am still yet to see that 3rd Class fellow that is in an Oil Company (not talking about mushroom oil companies). But I have met countless 1st class graduates in the Oil industry.

The Op at this stage in his life needs that competitive spirit. If he is my Son I will be so very proud of him

Thanks for the good and bad comments. The said guy is my friend and am not jealous of him, i just want to know how it feels to be leading your department. I know having a high gp doesn't mean anything and does not guarantee you a job after graduation but that doesn't mean i should not read to pass my exams. Am already thinking of life after school.
And please am a small boy(would turn 19 by july), some of your words are too harsh but thanks for your comments anyways.

I wish you take your eyes off CGPA and focus. Grades are highly subjective. I kept a profile of 4.1/5.0 in my UG and that's distinction 3.5/4.0 in the U.S. that I had my M.Sc., and Ph.d. You are already qualified for other stuff in life, but focusing on anybody ahead of you in terms of CGPA is a complete waste of time to me.
A quick story during my M.Sc., the guy next me thought I was a grade freak person, but he was shocked that I read not to fail and just to keep the qualified standard for exploits ahead. The real test lies after school... Keep putting your best as what got you there, don't drop it and take your eyes off someone else CGPA to enjoy your own grades. If you will graduate being the best academically, fine and if not, focus more on the needful...
