And we thought you even understood GOT.

GOT doesn't roll according to viewers expections. Please get that right to avoid further disappointments.

And there's something many people are missing here. The NK is actually just a distraction from the main aim of the show. The main aim of this show is not to KILL the NK but the THRONE and who sits on it. Why waste too much time on this while other more pressing issues remain to be attended to?

Now that he's out of the way, we can go ahead with the original purpose of the show-THE THRONE. Maybe then you'll get the big combat you're expecting cheesy

Let me remind you all that the name of the show is GAME OF THRONES, not WINTER IS COMING

Read what you said well.

They wasted 7 whole seasons on NK while there was more pressing issues.

QUICK QUESTION

As at S08e03 which we have just seen, If Bran Stark had died when Jaime Lannister pushed him in S01e01 would anything have turned out differently? Is there any significant part of the story so far that would have played out differently? Other than helping Sam figure out Jon's parentage what else would have been different?

Any takers?

With the story so far, nothing really significant...

Catelyn would not have gone south, and Tyrion would not have been kidnapped, but that doesn't change much. Ned would have still moved against Cercei and still lose his head. The North would have still rebelled and Tywin would still ravage the Riverlands via Gregor Clagane. Catelyn would have still died during Theon's sack of Winterfell, and Tyrion would still have done everything pre- and post- Battle of Blackwater bay. The Brotherhood would most likely still have occurred, although perhaps without Beric Dondarrion.

So basically, no major plot change. smiley But then, this is all based on the story so far; Season 8: Episodes 4, 5, & 6 are still to come, and completely shrouded in mystery.

D-&-D have been winging it since they ran out of ASOIAF material in late season 5 - that's the cause of the many plot holes you've been seeing since then. But they did receive pointers of how the story would end from GRRM himself, and there is no way will GRRM end this tale with Bran's arc this haphazard.

So get yourself a bottle of JW's White Walker, and prepare to be entertained next week.

No. I don't think most people have a problem with Arya killing Ojuju calaba -- not me certainly.

I think the problem is that it was too simplistic & unexpected, for a character we've all been anticipating since Season 1. I mean, the first scene , as in the very first scene of GOT was about the Night King/white walkers. So it's only normal for people to feel disappointed if a long-term emotional investment doesn't pay off at the end.

The disappoinment is normal. Disappoinment also means you admit something is good. Afterall I can never be disappointed by Nollywood.

If even GRRM himself can be disappointed with these people he works with, how much more the viewers? It is said that GRRM is yet to recover from the disappoinment of the producers refusing to reincarnate Catelyn Stark as Lady Stone-heart ---- a cold-hearted woman who never spoke cos her throat was slit in her past life, determined to track down and kill everyone associated with the Red wedding. I haven't read the books yet though but heard she reincarnated there.

As for we viewers, we were expecting an epic finale kind of.

Maybe a catastrophic mixture of Jon, Brienne, Tormund, Berric, Grey-worm, Clegane & Arya all fighting the Night King at once. That would have been glorious!!!

Then just when the Night King thinks he's defeated them all, Arya from nowhere descends on him like a falcon and kills him just how she did it.

Yea something like that.

I love the catastrophic mixture. One bottle for you.
That's what's on my mind. Mixture of the stars and materials too.

Powdered dragon glass in NK eyes, Dragon glass axe in the back, Valyrian steel to the balls, some Melisandre fire to the horns..you know...other things then Arya dagger to the heart.

If only the directors listened to us low budget D n D, they may have spiced it up more.

as for all the talks about who is the right person to kill the Night King..... if you follow the story very well, you will know that the Night King and the Starks have some connections, so it most def have to be a stark that will kill the Night King...... and Jon is not a pure Stark

i am disappointed that they didn't follow the Azor Ahai gig

and by the way if the generals of the Night King were 1 percent useful, the Night King would have won, they were only good at walking around looking tough

They didn't waste 7 seasons on the NK. The NK problem was always in the background while everyones eyes was still on the throne.

Only the men of the nights watch knew about the impending problem. And it was only when Jon started sounding the alarm about it that people became aware of the NK. And they only actualy started fighting the army of the dead in season seven.

The NK had always been an unavoidable distraction. The throne is the main focus.

The fact is, if the Night King is not eliminated, IT WOUDNT MATTER WHO SAT ON THE THRONE

.....Bro, the thing tire me oh. I am seriously beginning to ask myself what Aegon's role is in this series right now. He wasn't the hero in the biggest battle in the show for me as he was all over the place. He couldn't do anything to guard the castle nor take down the threat which is the night king. In fact he was saved countless times by a woman not used to battle. He was practically useless and for one called prince of the dawn, he has yet to show anything regarding that prophecy except uniting the North.

.... Where he would have been most useful has now passed him by and now Dany has taken over completely as the new trailer portrays with him standing at attention and listening to her pep talk together with the rest of the people. It's becoming ridiculous how he has been relegated to the background just after he was given his due status. I really don't know what's going on with the series. It's looking like Dany is the Princess that was promised instead. Anyway, I am still watching, let's see how it all works out.

I will not be baited...I will not be tempted...I will not comment...i will Waka pass

That's to show the level of thinking put into GOT. Most of the scenes we are watching now were written years back. I don't think the writers do 'spur of the moment's writing. Every scene we watch has been properly planned out and there is always a story...a reason behind it.

A lot of scenes in this episode were largely underwhelming, Jon and Dany biggest culprits. Riding around on the dragons and achieving almost fůck all, that was just unnecessary.

Theon and Jorah were by far the biggest players of the night. Arya ended it all, yes, but the way and manner she did was far too easy and somewhat impractical.

I think the writers are brilliant!
They had us completely fooled. We were puppets and they controlled us to perfection. We were looking at the big pieces, which they directed us to, all the while forgetting the small ones.

At the end of the episode, I didn't know if I was happy or sad. My emotions were all over the place, each one threatening to burst out, with none succeeding. Now that's writing at its peak.

I always knew and told people that the real villain in GOT is Cercei. She is confident, resolute, resilient, unforgiving and tenacious about holding on to the throne. The Night King was just a distraction.
I can bet Dany will never sit her ass on the Iron throne... which means she may very likely die.
Cersei will waste as many of the characters including Dany if any one get near wrenching the throne off her. I foresee Cersei killing Dany.
Why has Jamie Lannister lasted this long?
I think Jamie will be one to kill Cersei ( if Cersei kills Brienne).
One thing i can bet is none of the Characters tipped to end up on the Iron throne will. Not even Jon Snow.
A very unlikely character will end up on the throne.
Not a fiery character, but a unifying voice that all will listen to and obey.

And by the way, Bran has been sitting his ass all thru the seasons. Perhaps his ass would have done practising sitting to be able to sit on the Iron Throne.
Wasnt Bran the Chosen?

Bran will be King on the Iron Throne.!!

Like how did Arya get past like ten thousand wights and just jump out of nowhere without the night king and his White Walkers noticing? That's shitty writing and a very anticlimactic end to a storyline line that I thought had more. I mean, what about the Azor Ahai prophesy? The Prince of the dawn? All the build up to this battle and all we get is this underwhelming ending. Honestly I'm not even all that motivated to watch the next episode.

Also how is Sam not dead? I could swear I saw him swarmed by at least 10 wights. There are so many characters that should have died in that battle that just miraculously survived. Jaime, Brienne and Gendry should be dead. If the writers wanted them to survive then they shouldn't have put them in those practically inescapable situations.

I kinda felt the same way, but...

Prophesies are tricky things. They don't always happen the way we expect it to. Yeah Jon had a big role to play in the Night King's death, but I think he already played that role.

He lead the widlings the other side of the wall. He united the north after Rob. He convinced Dany to fight the dead. If he hadn't done all those things, I don't think the living would have had a chance. He played his part.

He doesn't have to plunge his sword into someone's heart to play his part.

Guys, you should check out the BTS of Episode 3 and maybe it will change your perspective about how you should be critical of those working behind the scenes. This people worked their asses out

It is 40 mins long and the 720p is around 250MB, 360p 120MB abd there is a third lower version.

Emilia Clarke (Daenerys) is a funny character.
Maisie Williams (Arya) is such a great actress... She acted most of her shots

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3M0Xt97aFI

Concerning how the NK died, one of the producers avoided to drop a spoiler which I believe will still be in play as the season continues. That dagger was meant to kill Bran at the beginning of the show but it saved Bran towards the end and Samwell found that dagger is a book while he was in the Citadel

Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by DP84: 5:24pm On Apr 29, 2019
To those claiming the Night King died easy, you all forget he wasn't the centre of the story in the first place. As a matter of fact, he qualifies more as the foil character of Bran and he very well projected that right from the latter part of season 7.

The newly released episode would go down as one of the best fight scenes in any movie. The palpable tension that lasted for over five minutes at the very start of the episode, the seeming fear that leaked out of the screen directly to fans and viewers all over the world, owing to the unpredictable nature of the series; who would die and who wouldn't, the long minutes spent on unspoken words, etc.

It was obvious the living had a plan and it failed woefully as the Night King took advantage of the hour of the battle (night) and the snowy condition of Winterfell. He clearly had his own plans and being in his element, he was clearly unstoppable. The Night King's Snowstorm distablized the 2-1 dragon fight Dany and Jon had planned and assisted in cushioning the damage he would have suffered.

While he has been known to be ruthless, nowhere was it revealed that Night King was good at close, hand-to-hand combat and HBO made sure no one thought about this, let alone think of this as a weakness.

His generals had close combats in the 7th season against the likes of Jon and the Wildlings and they fought well and I believe it made many believe the Night King would be more of a better fight knowing that he turned them.

The focus of the season and the show is on who gets the Iron Throne and rules the 7 kingdoms and not on the dead and the living. I have always thought a prequel would be a good idea; a prequel detailing the life of the Children and the First Men but with how HBO quickly turned away from the Night King, it is obvious the climax hasn't even arrived yet. This is a 13-episode season and the Night King has been laid to rest in just episode 3, meaning the next 10 is where the climax is laced.

The Night King has always been lazy and a discerning viewer would have seen this. His strength is in reanimation and turning the reanimated against the living/ nothing more. If anyone was expecting a Thanos vs MCU-without Gauntlet-war, then you are better off seeing Endgame.

There is the subliminal message of last week in Podrick's 'Jenny's Song' and it has been attributed to Dany and Jon (and she never wanted to leave), today's hint at Sansa and Tyrion's supposed 'rekindled' relationship and the view of the former on how Tyrion's loyalty would be divided between Dany, her Queen and her, his wife.

For all it's worth, there are still many twists and turns in this show. The Night King was never supposed to take centre stage. Everyone feared him and paid more attention to him when he speared one of Dany's dragons from the sky. Take away his excellent throwing ability and his scary reanimation strength and we are left with Frozone/Blizzard/Sub-Zero/Elsa of Disney/Mr Freeze/Killer Frost.

Villains have fans and despite knowing they would go down, people expect a Thanos kind of outro for the Night King. If anyone feels the writers are horrible, a better suggestion would be to wait till the end of the show before giving a final verdict.

Speaking from a real life point of view and my own understanding of warfare, i still dont get why they charge cavalry first in GoT battles.

Cav is not meant to be the main attacking force of any army. They are majorly supposed to be for maneuvering and outflanking enemy forces like the knights of the vale did at the battle of bastârds.

Whose idea was it to charge in all the Dothraki from the start? Charging cav head on didn't work for team Jon against Ramsay but they still proceeded to do it anyways against an enemy that outnumbered them at least 2 to 1? SMH.

- The dagger would not have been in place hence Tyrion would not have been arrested by Cat which led to Ned being attacked by Jaime which led to War of the 5 kings. All these brought us to where we are

- Another angle is there would not have been a new 3ER after the former died and NK wouldn't have marked Bran so he wouldn't have crossed the Wall hence he would still be alive.

Conclusion, almost every events in S1 led us to where we are now.
And yes Bran Stark's life played a major part in GOT

Criticism is a welcome idea anywhere... However, the one thing you didn't factor into your comment is the fact that this is just a movie, and sci-fi at that. It is not real, and is merely fantasy.
If you give 1000 directors this episode to direct, they will give you 1000 ways this episode could have gone. And no matter how they do direct this episode, a lot of people must complain as to what didn't go right.
You can't be in your room and be fuming with anger because an episode didn't go how you wanted it to go... You are not the directors, producers, financiers nor the script and screenwriters, and you certainly know nothing about the plot of the show.
It is utterly foolish and silly to lay your criticism of a show based on how a particular thing you were expecting didn't happen...
I repeat, it is utterly useless and föolish to lay your criticism of a show based on how a particular moment you were expecting didn't happen.
The show runners have stuck with what worked for them and created a show with worldwide cult following.
