It is heart breaking and sickening why you guys will turn every thread to unnecessary comparison. Many are distressed, injured and others traumatized as a result of this violence. The feeling of losing a loved one to shooting is difficult to express, it leaves a heartache no one can heal.

For ones put yourselves in the shoes of the survivor and reading through this. I'm pretty sure none of you have been in such situation before, if you have, you will find it absolutely irrelevant to be comparing shooting irrespective of the place it happens.

60 people? That's the number killed in an average US city in 3 days. Dude, have you actually studied US gun crime rates? You are truly ignorant if you think Boko Haram's activities compare in any way in terms of severity and numbers affected. In a bad year, Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen combined may kill 2,000 people. In America, 40,000 people are killed by gun violence per annum, and those are just the official numbers reported.

When you read those statistics; you should compare apples to apples...agreed America prison population is highest worldwide...

but more than 50% of the prisoners are doing time for minor drug offenses. These offenses are not even been prosecuted in Nigeria...imagine if Lagos State start a zero tolerance on drugs possession or illegal drugs, all these youths taking tramadol, egbo, public intoxication, etc will be hauled into prison, I don’t think there will be enough prison for them. I am positive that, one fourth of Lagos State will be prison, if they prosecute crime, the way it is been prosecuted in the US, but I wouldn’t hold my breath because; some people who should have been counted among that prison population if they dare cross into US are Honorable Ministers and Governors in Nigeria today.

I don’t know what area of New York you are referring to or living; but if it has high crime, it must be a very poor area with high unemployment... the same can be said of any part of the world...if you go to very poor areas in Ajengule with high unemployment; am very positive you will also meet high crime...try to move to better neighborhood in New York or better still move to New Jersey, they have some nice areas down there.
