Chuks9000: Okay we heard you, but the question regarding to your last quote, did ojukwu really live to fight for another day? Or he cowardly said that he "if he was asked to go for another civil war with his people he would decline" was that bravery When he contested for president in 2003?. The quote that you quoted is complete opposite of ojukwu. |

tayebest: But he did "look back". In fact, not only did he look back but he came back (with his tails tucked firmly behind his yam-tuber legs) to lick the backsides of those he vowed to only deal with on the battle field and who slaughtered his (ibo) people with gusto. Additionally, he came back to also marry the prettiest "well-past-her-use-by-days" olosho, half his age in the(ir) land. |

tayebest: Firstly, Ojukwu did not call for war, it was Nigeria that brought war to Ojukwu. Secondly, it is not an act of bravery to allow your enemy slaughter you like a Chicken, it is an act of stupidity If a Soldier has given it a good fight but canot continue, the only thing left is tactical withdrawal. There is no point for a Soldier to wait for the enemy to come and kill him when he has an escape route. Ojukwu gave it a good fight for 3 years and when he could not continue, he left. This idea that Ojukwu should have stayed and allowed Nigerian Soldiers to use him for target practice, so as to prove that he is brave, is one of the most foolish things I have ever heard. 2 Likes |

imhotep: Thanks...................but no thanks. why in hell will i pay homage to a war general who having led his people into a war of his own making abandoned them on the battlefield and fled to safety with his family members, his favourite Mercedes benz car, suitcases filled up with biafran cash and his pet dog, called "nnamidi kanu". |

Abacha was a dictator and not a brave soldier. He never led any war. Most dictators are weaklings when not in power. Ojukwu and bravery should not be in the same sentence. He started a war and then ran away when things got very bad. He’s a perfect definition of cowardice. Orkar doesn’t appear like a very brave soldier to me. From what I read about his coup, he had IBB to himself but he wanted a bloodless coup! I don’t understand what he was thinking but a chameleon like IBB is not someone that could be taken out of power without shedding blood. Apart from the coup, there is nothing spectacular about his performance in any war or peacekeeping. |

phylshan: Orkar and his group succeeded in penetrating Dodan Barracks on the day of the coup. IBB was within shooting range but they decided not to kill him. They watched him escape in a 504 Peugeot car. They planned to capture him alive and try him in a court of law instead of killing him immediately. |
