Got some pork spines for Augusto on Sunday. This spinal cord is made up of 80% bone marrows and 20 meat.

Since Augusto is still a 2months old pup and unable to crush the bone marrows into finished stage in order to swallow. i used cutlass to break them into smaller pieces, boiled and pounded it little by little then stored inside the fridge for mixing his breakfast.

Since spices ain't the best for a dog's system, i boil without adding anything to it, the aroma oozing outta the pot alone assured me he'd love it. I usually combine it with his kibbles as breakfast and he loves the combination, I can tell from the way he finishes the finishes everything within 1-2minutes or so (but he doesn't rush his food, he never does). I make the quantity moderate not too much but nutritious and enticing.

Serving a dog too much food at a time isn't good isn't a good thing, it doesn't make a dog grow more than the person serving moderately but balanced feeding rather i think leaving food in a dog's plate always is a bad habit
how much do you get the pork spine and is it as soft as goat spine?
I've only tried goat and cow spines and cow spines are so strong and useless so I stuck with the goat spines.
I'll like to try pork spines too sometime

As I prepare Augusto's dinner i also prepare mine as well.

the main reason why i prefer mixing, cooking and preparing my boys meal often instead of serving kibbles and canned foods then go my way is because I actually like cooking, it's my hubby smiley

They dine well, I do as well. Can't come and kill myself
see enjoyment oo shocked

You mean how many times i feed him or the total cost of what he eats in a months? Which one!

I get the pork spines from an abbatoir close to my street, I didn't get any last sunday because I've some pork meat and pork ribs left in the fridge, will prepare them this morning before leaving for work because they can no longer stay in the fridge... The fridge is kinda faulty sad

Spanishmilf:
Total cost

Ok fine;

A bag of 8kg nutribyte dry food- N10k
4 tins of dallas canned food @320 each- N1280
A broiler (the one i blended) N2k
Pork spines- N1k
General meat, bone and marrows, cartilage and all that- N2k
A small bucket of thick liquid milk- N1k
Soya cakes, eggs, and them fruits I add to his meal- 2k

Total=N19,280

I didn't add his deworm, plate, medication, vitamins and local supplements, chemicals used in fumugation and cleaning up his cage and the environment to prevent ticks and flees

If i should add all these it would be double of that amount up there, I don't calculate the cost feeding and upkeep because it could lead one to depression or heart attack lmao (imagine what i spent on Gustaf yet didn't archive what i wanted in him embarassed )

What do you think of the cost of feeding and everything I've written?

Thanks for the compliment brother

Well when going for a security dog one thing we should consider is the line. We all know that rotts and Caucasians are very security conscious dogs but I've seen posts made by few people complaining that their rotts/Caucasian don't bark and all that.

This is what you'll do, start searching for a breeder with good stock. I mean a breeder who got dogs with good guard instincts then contact him, agree a specific price with him then sit back and either wait for the mating to be done, for the bitch to whelp or for the pups to mature before pickup time. Use this medium to work and save up some cash for the pup. The aim is to go for a good pup

I'd advice you to go for a gsd for easier bonding, good drive and training but if you'd like a pit then fine. A friend of mine would be breeding his female pit this winter, both his bitch and the stud to be used posses strong guard instinct which is a good thing. if you don't consider a gsd as i suggested but a pit then I'll help you get a good one with human aggression

One mistake you shouldn't make is going for a pure American pitbull terrier because they're specially bred and programmed-like to have zer0 human aggression but deadly to other animals and dogs, this type won't do any harm to a stranger even if he jumps your fence. I'm not guessing this rather this is the truth about a pure bred apbt.

So what's your stand bro? Have you got fresh pictures of your 6month old boerboel? I'd like to see some!

you know Pitts aren't guard dogs right?
they were bred not to have human aggression
you can make the wrong choice and the dog will be more interested in fighting your boerbel than guarding your house.
if you want a guard dog, go for a dog that has good guard instincts naturally.
with the pitbull it's a game of chance because the breed is not human aggressive but some have guard instincts, you have to actually select a pup from a good pair

I also don't particularly like gsds, don't get me wrong I love all breeds and I have a soft spot for all of them but gsds bark too much and they are too clingy, most of the time they are pushovers too, I like dogs with strong will grin

check if they have guard instincts, you can bring the two of them home and they'll be smiling like that when someone jumps over your fence.
they are beautiful tho, just make sure they have guard instincts

Why don't you want to go for another boerboel?

When you get a vicious one you'll enjoy it because they look intimidating, pits and most gsds aren't intimidating-looking. Hope you understand what I mean
