Good afternoon forum members, We are back again with updates from the farm, Was waiting unto they attain two weeks before making any other post on their updates. So today is Day15 and we administered Gumboro Vaccine, they're really hardy birds and very energetic (stubborn). The grow really fast that sometimes we think they grow over night, as ever morning we get to the farm, it looks like they add weight as the the night passes, they have started loosing their baby chick feathers. Below are some pictures from their 2 weeks of age! #OBJMarshal - Male line 3 Likes

And so, We just finished weighting all the birds, and we found an average weight of 450grams (96% of the birds) while the biggest weighted 500grams, the smallest weighted 150 gram (just one with this weight). Find below few images from the weighting process This first picture is the heaviest The second picture is the lightest The two other pictures are just to show the average weight gain, they grow uniformly

I have lost 6 birds in the last 7 days and I just noticed this (picture attached) on one of the birds this evening. Is it contagious? Should I isolate it from the other birds? What's the cause and the treatment?

Re: My Poultry Farming Experience! by Youngext: 12:54pm On May 22, 2020 |
zekepio:Yes isolate the bird, it's an infection, and I think it's called coryza but I'm still very new to poultry farming and it's better we allow the experienced folks in the game aid in solving the issue CC: EMMAACHILE TURKS PREEMAH SAKA ORGANICS Please someone with vast understanding of this matter should help 4 Likes |

Youngext:It is likely coryza , Poor ventilation, and wet litter with ammonia gas build up in the pen are the major causes. 1 Like |

Youngext: Munzy14:Thanks for your replies, I have been giving them antibiotics for the last 7 days and yet experience 1 death per day. I don't think the ventilation is bad. They are in a corner of a very big room PS: I met the sick bird dead this morning.

Youngext, you haven't abandoned this esteemed thread, have you? |
Re: My Poultry Farming Experience! by zekepio(m): 4:18pm On May 29, 2020 |
Richhard:I bought something similar. Only that bird died after showing that symptom (swollen pox-like face). All the birds are on antibiotics but they are still dying. Two died yesterday. One has died today. But most of the birds look very healthy.

@todto These were the medications I got on my last trip to an agro store The red liquid is virucine. Despite these medications I lost 5 birds today.

zekepio: Sorry bro. How old are your birds? How good is their ventilation? Is it close to what you can see from the Op's picture posts? How clean is their litter? |
Re: My Poultry Farming Experience! by zekepio(m): 8:04pm On Jun 02, 2020 |
Escodeb:They'll be 5 weeks tomorrow. Ventilation is excellent. It's a big storage room with 2 windows. I created a cubicle for them at one of the sides so they can be closer to one another and stay warm. I clean their litter everyday and put wood shavings for them. |
Re: My Poultry Farming Experience! by Escodeb(m): 6:27am On Jun 03, 2020 |
zekepio: Ventilation is no longer good @ 5 weeks. You should move them outdoor (isolate the sick among them), they need fresh air from all the 4 sides and not heat (warm) at that age. I wish them quick recovery. 2 Likes |
