This story is fake news . Besides before marriage, herself Nd her husband would have used same lab. Nd if AS is really difficult to distinguish from AA, how come they got the husband own right , but hers wrong.
In summary, this s just a post to gather comments

We don't know her family history. We don't know if she has a sickle cell sibling.

Something made her jittery enough to keep running the test even after marriage.
That is the missing piece of information.
Or maybe she bleeped someone with As after marriage.

Good day family people. Please what can you do in this case?

My neighbour's second child, 5 year old girl that used to fall sick often was just recently confirmed sickle celler much to the surprise of the parents and all of us. But that is not even the issue.

The real issue is that the parents tested to know their genotype before marriage and the father was known to be AS and the mother AA. The woman went to 5 different hospitals and laboratories, government and private, to confim her genotype before committing to marriage with the man. After their marriage and during her two antenatal in the hospital, she tested her blood each time again and her genotype was still confirmed AA. Now suddenly when her daughter was fallen sick often she requested for genotype test for the daughter and it was confirmed she was SS. That made the doctor to ask the mother to go for genotype test again and it turned out as AS.

Please how do you explain this family people and doctors in the house? What do you do to those that conducted the 7 previous tests both in government and private hospitals?
Oga why una d behave like this na,something happened to you you use ur neighbor?
Pls go do DNA test for your baby maybe your wife fuccked an ex with As genotype.

Same thing happened to me. Prior to marriage. My wife claimed she was AA. I'm AS. I demanded for test result. She told me she can't find it again as it has been very long she did the test.

She claimed all her siblings are all AA. The whole thing bursted when my 3rd son fell seriously ill. He always for sick until a day, he had priapism at such young age, so I took him to the hospital.

I demanded the lab technician to conduct a genotype test and blood group test. He turned out to be SS, but same blood group with mine.

Wife was still claiming she was AA. Right there, I demanded she took a genotype test. Within minutes result was out. She is AS. She scammed me. Ever since that time my marriage has been a shamble.

She never apologized for the lie. No remorse till this day. I have been doing everything not to lose that boy.

So, many things has really happened from that day. Lots of discoveries. I was never truly loved but for the sake of I want to get married. All for her selfishness.

Huh? What are you still doing married to such a liar? A woman who lies to you about her geneotype and never apologises when she's caught, yet you sleep on the same bed with her and eat the food she cooks? You don't love your life? undecided

As she is not the one making the post, there must be something we don't know yet.

Most people don't do genotype testing 7 times.
If you're AA, you do maybe one confirmatory test before marriage, that's all.

Why was she running up and down doing genotype test?
It is because she knew she was AS long ago.
you are one smart fella. She is just deceiving herself

Most people often confuse AA genotype will blood group A+, those with A+ blood group are often vulnerable to malaria. My blood group is A+ and I treat malaria regularly. My younger brother is B+, genotype is AA same as mine and he rarely fall sick.

That's why God is the ultimate in life. I can't call this error but just pure hands of God to show that he is the omnipotent. I married 12 years ago. I knew that I am AS but did not even bother to ask my wife for good 3 years. I was really afraid when she told me she is AS and she is ready to go along with me despite knowing I'm also AS. I wish to back off but my relatives and my pastor encourage me to go ahead. Upon advice and counter advice we eventually married. The first few years were really tense especially when I gave birth to my daughter. If u are of little faith please don't do it o. A little cold like this can lead to hypertension. I promise God that if the second child is a boy I won't give birth again. Thank God he is a boy. The boy was sick last year and my wife secretly did their genotype without telling me. I was really afraid cos she kept the results for six months. I instantly asked her to bring it "Eekan lomokurin nku". Though I have no fear about the first daughter because she is already 10 and in JSS 2 class but I'm afraid for the boy. Low and behold I opened it. They are both AA to God glory. Well, my advice is that don't try it if ur faith can carry it. But I think some situation is better left to God to handle. Error can happen here and there. As well, what will u do if ur child is deaf and dumb. May God almighty guide us right.
Don't put such posts on public forum, human lives is involve here.

There's a loophole in your write-up bro. The level of certainty you have displayed on the thread is too high to believe the lady is your neighbour. You don't even know her until she moved in with her husband, your neighbour, so where's the confidence coming from?

My point is you barely know this woman. Stop being too confident okay?

It's even possible that the husband is also aware of her AS status before marriage. They got married with the hope of raising AS/AA children. Some couples who got blinded with love took this risk. Since their plan turned out this way, of course, they needed to come up with a story so the world won't blame them.

That being said, you should speak with a medical practitioner if your assertions are correct.

Very simple.Run DNA test to ascertain the truth if the child is from the woman
Why?
The two possible outcomes is that she is AS or that she cheated.
If she is AA and cheated, then it is not possible for the child to be SS. As the "father" can only be AA or AS.
So the only reasonable outcome is that she is AS, and the previous test results were wrong, or forged.

She felt she might not be AA because she does not often fall sick like it used to happen to most AAs. That's why she did it repeatedly before marriage.

The woman has beta thalasemia. ask her to test for it.

You obviously don't know what you are talking! Probably she was one of the few that believe genotype can be changed by pastors which may explain y she did lab test multiple times to confirm if it will change back to her original genotype which is AS but was surprised to notice it now. That woman is a chronic Lier

She doesn't have beta thalassemia per say, but she's most likely a carrier of beta thalassemia! A carrier doesn't manifest the disease but can pass it on to the offspring, which is what happened in this case. Unfortunately, the husband also passed on a sickle cell gene to the same offspring. The combination of the beta thalassemia gene and sickle cell gene caused the child to manifest SCA, even though s/he is only AS. The beta-thalassemic HbA gene cannot produce much hemoglobin, while the HbS gene produces sickled hemoglobins.

stop contributing rubbish you know nothing about. Must husband be SS before they have SS child? The partners contribute an S each, not two to get a SS baby

But you are contributing rubbish by not reading to understand my point.

You are entitled to this your rubbish opinion, anyway. If you can believe the man is truly AS, then you can believe he's not the neighbor.

He could equally be an SS. Seems he only took his test once. Will, both parents contributed the sickler gene. If society was much better, she wouldn't feel bad about being unmarried. She didn't have to lie.

I see you'd stop at nothing to pin the fault on the man....why? your hate for men or what? initially u said his genotype wasnt stated and he could be the one at fault....now he could be SS so its still his fault....Even if he is SS and the woman is AA as she had put it, there's still no way they'd have an SS progeny....just educate yourself and dont be a bloke....do u even need a test to know one who's SS?....most of them dont even make it to marriageable age...
Re: Undetected Sickle Celler by sunaizo4real: 8:39am On Jan 31, 2021
It could be due to lab error which gave her a false results. That's why it's always good to confirm your genotype in at least two to three different lab before marriage. The mistake has been made and they have two options. It's either they divorce or continue with with the marriage. Note that it is now possible to know the genotype of a fetus in the womb as early as three months using the maternal blood. Thanks to science. It could also be a case of beta thalasemia.

That is exactly the point. Beta thalesemia is a hereditary blood disorder. It is what made the kid SS. If she didn't have it, her kid won't have come out SS. It does not matter whether she manifested it or not, she will certainly pass it down as it is hereditary.

Oga , you are wrong here , how can seven different labs be wrong ? The woman was probably in a denial and didn’t want to accept the AS she has always been . 3 tests from different facilities is more than enough . Not 7 . Kilgore??

It is a recessive disorder, so she only has the gene (a carrier) — She's not down with the disease.

I did my first test in Pry Sch :AA
Second test in UNI : AA
Took my sis for test someday during Uni and just tot lemme also do it again: came out as AS.
I didn't want to believe the third result , so I did it again: AS.
Then I finally knew I am AS.
If the 4th test came out as AA, I might have concluded I was AA and the third lab was wrong.
I bet in the case of the woman, one lab must have showed AS result, but out of doubt she did it again and again, and might have received another AA result which caused the confusion.

I have this disorder myself and I am AA. In fact, I only got to know of it after my big brother did his test after having an SS kid like your neighbour there. My brother is AA BTW and wife is AS. So I know about this thing a bit.

Let me explain further.. The moment an AA male carrier gets with an AS or SS lady, it gets activated in their kids. This thing is part of you and it will be part of your kids and their kids. The only way to beat it as a carrier is to get with AA lady ( even if she is also a carrier) in which case, the worst case scenario is having AS kids. Your kids will still have this beta thalesemia (AA or not).
I think there is a way it wipes. Read about it a few years ago. I think AA with thalesemia + AA with Thalesemia.

Informative, but as much as I know, both the A, B, even AB are more susceptible to malaria sef unlike the O type. B is balanced blood type anyway. I remember when I read something where scientists linked the way we behave to our blood type. A type was said to be Clever, so obvious. Happy Sunday
