Hey Wills

Just stumbled upon this site while searching for "supply chain nigeria" in google funny that i havent seen this section in Nairaland before today.

Anyway I am planning to take the CSCP exams this year in december after which I intend to go ahead and take some course in SAP but the problem right now is that i do no really have much hands on experience with SAP and the firm I wor for uses a customised ERP/SCEM software.

I would be grateful if you or any one could give me the best adice on which SAP course to take and the subsequent certification

Thanks

Hi All

I watched an episode of the last season of Survivor Africa in which one of the contestants broke his arm in one of the challenges ( I forget his name) he could easily have broken his neck or his spine yet no one blamed survivor Africa for his broken arm and no one suggested they should be sued and made to pay millions for his broken arm.

Yes he lost his life and yes we commiserate with his family for his lost life it is a sad thing to happen to anyone anywhere from previous posts it has been indicated that NBL had medics and medical teams on ground that attempted to rescue him and as at this moment we dont know the cause of his death.

Let us not be quick to cast blames on the organisers and be grateful for their providing such an oppurtunity for people to make money. From what I heard they have other programs targeted @ Musicians (Star trek), Dancers (Dance for all), actors (AMBO) etc. So if you know your strenghts and you limitations you could go for the area that would be SAFEST for you to participate in.

Please lets not be too quick to throw the baby out with the bath water.

I look forward to the next GUS who knows I may even contest.

@ Uchetobi & Denex
Thanks for keeping it real
Computers / Re: Best Home Internet Service In Nigeria? by techie(m): 5:57pm On Sep 27, 2006
@ chelsea4su

I have deployed Netcom VSAT severally and found their service to be reliable and 'fast' but their wireles modem is for sinlge users only not for commercial purposes

Curiousboy:

The Fact is that all the Internet service provider in Nigeria are not fast, they may be reliable but not fast because they get their internet from europe, which is pretty far and it losses all its speed, the only way to get fast internet in Nigeria is if u build our own DNS Server and then we don`t have to get internet from abroad anymore.

@ Curiousboy

Yes it would be nice if we had our own DNS servers but that would only marginally increase our speed. What we need to do is to obey the golden rule of the Internet "Keep local traffic local" if all ISPs in Nigeria could interconnect like the telephone companies are doing we would have less problems. I think NCC should step up and make it a requirement for all ISPs to be interconnected.

Imagine what would hapen if each time you wanted to call Celtel from MTN it had to go to the USA through Europe then come back to Nigeria Via Satellite. thats precisely whats happening to our Internet services.

Nitel is not Helping matters by the way they mange our fastest link via fibre to the internet. the make a mes sof it as most of their engineers dont undestand the technology.

Computers / Re: Best Computer Antivirus Software? by techie(m): 4:01am On Sep 15, 2006
I have been using AVG since 2002 and IMHO I think it is the best antivirus for winows. Off course most people using the free edition will run into problems of finding viruses and not being able to delete them (its a marketing strategy buy the full version and it will remove them).

On linux Clamav absolutely rocks. I think they are also coming out with windows version which is laso free and open source hvent ried it yet,

Webmasters / Re: How To Get a .NG Domain Name? by techie(m): 3:56pm On Jun 28, 2006
I have personally had several run ins with Randy Bush and I can say he is the most erratic fellow you can ever come across, he runs the .ng domain as his own personal fiefdom.

for the record I have sucessfully registered some domains with him and using the exact same procedure have sent others which fail. ALL the domains I tried to register are from reputable organsations so there is nor rhyme or logic to his methods of determining who gets registered or who doesnt.

Note that your domain name servers should exist on a different backbone or Network or else your application wont go through

This is his pet peeve because he actually wrote RFC (request for comment) which governs that bit of the requirements for DNS so even though other DNS registrars will allow you to register your domain.

Please we need to look for a company org another organisation to manage our .ng domain without having to go through the pains we are currently undergoing.

I shudder to think what will happen if Randy Bush's (Sounds like a relative of George Bush they both have bulldozer attitudes) server goes down or if he should kick the bucket. That would be a major disaster for Nigerians the NITDA should take up full responsibilty and administer the .ng domain is my own opinion
