Jakumo:

Instead of a $60 million building, Pastor Eunuch would have done better to purchase an enormous floating barge of equal value, so that he and his entire congregation of sheep could be towed out to sea and left there, as their activities do paralyse traffic on major Nigerian highways whenever the Redeemed Camp scam is in progress.

lol we can only hope that they spared N77,000 to design a new parking space now that they have a building to accomodate 1,000,000 "worshippers".
Putting the rest of us who ply the expressway through untold hardship in the name of "worshipping God" is no longer tenable.

If you want new roads, water supply, Nepa, go ask the right people. That is the job of the government not the job of people like bill gates or the church people. They could do it but no where is it written that the church is in charge of building or developing that country.

I think by now it would be obvious that you trying to twist my words and attack my person is not going to help your case at all. Fact remains, if you are the christian you claim you to be, judge your God for not reprimanding the many people before this pastor who spent their money on other things but feeding the poor and doing the same old things that we have been doing in that continent for decades now and still no show. I can not believe anyone would actually say that what africa needs is more freebie ?? People who work hard to make their money should not spend it on what they wanted to because there are still poor people, and no light in africa. I wonder what the world would be like if that was really how it should be.!!

Anywhoo, I need to go snooze, I asked God for a 42" LCD TV for christmas and I need to go sleep so I can wake up to make the money God has prepared for me to make, grin

*yawning**rubs eyes**reads post** shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked* N7.7b* LET SOMEBODY SHOUT HALLELUYAH!
WHAT I first oticed when I was reading through this thread is that it was started by someone in the states and has lots of contributions by 9jahans living there?just let my Nairaland aborigin peeps wake up and you will get a real beating grin grin grin

The issue of building a luxurious house of worship isnt being contemplated I guess the main issh is the huge amount that was expended on the project,i all fairness to the RCCG it goes to show alot of appreciation on the part of the church to the blessings that God that has endowed on them cheesy cheesy cheesy so why not build something magnificent for the lawd and his people to worship in?

Nigeria is not among  the poor countries of the world angry angry angryI refuse to accept that?we are a developing nation!so why can't we have  the worlds most expensive church auditorium?thats another feather added to our cap of many feats as a nation.

If you talking about our people living in abject poverty and less than a $1 a day, then the duties of the church as much as its duties are concerned havent neglected in anyway the plights of the poor?accomodation, food, clothing is being provided to the poor by churches(I know about the RCCG---shalom parish where I worship and other RCCG churches). II.80% of private universities in the country were established by churches to save the deploring educational standard of the country!in terms of being affordable exceptional students are given schorlarships undecided undecided undecided okay it might not be affordable for the common man but hey---the churches have gotten their own universities?

I will be attending fridays edition of the NEXT LEVEL @the Redemption camp and can't wait to worship in his presence at the worlds most expensive auditorium cheesy cheesy cheesy

Everywhere you are, you are in God's presence. You dont have to travel to the finest auditorium to "worship in God's presence". I see a lot of hero worship, covetousness and greed gift wrapped as "worshipping Gawd".

hmm seems Nigeria is moving up to the "next level" of poverty. . . intellectual poverty.

Really there is absolutely nothing wrong in building that audtorium, its not pastor adeboyes house but Gods house most of us here are complaining of poverty on the streets its very easy to critizie others how many of us on this forum have visited a motherless babies home in the last 3 mont,hs? how many here make a concious effort to set aside part of our stipends for the poor even in our familie,s Yeah redeemed has spent much on that auditorium but that does not warrant the type of gutter talk im seeing here and a point of correction no body was forced to donate to this project it was entirely free will and the main reason was to decongest the expressway as much as possible during conventions. i`ll challange anybody on this forum to mention at least three churches that takes serious interest in the plight of the poor and lets see if RCCG would not be among the first three

Since when did building an auditorium become worshipping it? Please. Can we please try not to generalize and put everyone in the same bag Why should we continue to dictate to others what God wants for them to do?? Why not let God do what he will in this case while you and I move on to mind our own missions?? Many of us will never get half way done with our missions here on earth, why?? Cause we will be too focused on trying to tell others how to do things for God instead of allowing God himself be God and speak to those He will when He will. This is the sort of thing that killed Judas Iscariot, he spent his time with Jesus trying to tell Jesus how to be messiah and position himself for the kingdom take over he had already planned in his own mind without stopping to think who he was spending time with and how much more it would have benefitted him to have actually put aside his own plans and his own opinions and let God work through him ( I know I bunched things up here, i am up way past my bedtime). This happens to be africas mental problem. We like to mind everyone else's business for em without stopping to think that if we spent all that time doing what we are called to do, those who we think should change would SEE our works and God would touch them as he will and cause them to change if that be his will. Look around you, many africans here know all about countries like the USA, they can tell you how bad the country is doing and why this and that is a fool but the same can not and has never stepped out of his house to even clean up his street, let alone notice his neighbour who has lost 20lbs in the last week or so.

This is my prayer for african Christians. We stop pointing accusing fingers at those who do not do what WE want them to do and ALLOW God to do his work in their lives WHILE WE focus on ALLOWING God do his work in our own lives. This, for me, is one of the major issues I see in africa. We feel it is our place to mind everyone else's b usiness for em that is why we have those calling for everyone who does not believe as he/she does to be put down and demonized so they can feel better with themselves.

Re: Redeemed Church Opens World's Biggest Auditorium, Costs N7.7b by lafile(m): 8:52am On Dec 12, 2007
This topic was only started yesterday and already 3 pages. Me, I'm just seeing it.
I think a lot of things have to be put into perspective since most of the contributors seem to be from outside Nigeria and have a few things mixed up.
First, the auditorium being talked about is not as much an auditorium as a structure with roof and floor. It is not a cathedral with walls, cushioned seats and air conditioning. The wind blows in and people sit on plastic chairs and wooden benches.I dont think it was about 'showing off' with one luxurious house of worship. It is anything but luxurious.
Second, the auditorium came up to meet a need. During redeemed programmes, Hundreds of thousands of people have no place to sit because the auditorium meant to sit Hundreds of thousands of people is full before the program starts. Lots of people have to sit in their cars throughout these programmes.
Third, That a huge amount was spent doesnt mean the church is not socially responsible. There are scholarships for thousands of people every year. That these things are not announced on TV as people expect doesnt mean it is not happening.
Finally, the traffic on the expressway is unfortunate. However, when you have some 600,000 people leaving a place at the same time, all leaving thru one expressway, theres just so much that can be done. It has nothing to do with parking space. There is adequate parking space. Imagine 50-60,000 cars crossing one expressway at the same time. its a logistics nightmare.

i don't think we should be talking about this. let that guy come back to naija and start a social crusade. don't stay there and be talking about issue when you don't know what's going on here. moreover should people worship God in a house again? No offence i'm not a redeemite but i ithink it's worth it. why are we talking about the money involve. at least many lives have been touched by this single act. there won't be long traffic on the express again. tell that guy MAMAJAMA to come back to naija and start a new socialist movment. Give something to this country.

Another oft-used quote designed to stifle all opposition to the supreme will of the new-age pastors and 'men of God'. I'm pretty sure Rev. King has used this same quote in the past. After all, one man's Adeboye is another man's Rev. King/TB Joshua.

@topic
I've had cause in the past to lament the shameful neglect of the poor by Nigerian Christians. People deposit fat tithes with fanfare and then go home, open Vanguard newspaper and hurriedly skim over articles calling for donations to save the life of someone who needs a kidney transplant/heart surgery etc.
I think Kobojunkie's attempt to remark on the apathy towards IBB's stolen loot as compared to the furore generated by this auditorium is seriously flawed. Religion is designed to give men hope, and it's always more troubling when there's suspicion that that hope is being capitalised on.
At the very least, building such a magnificent edifice is misguided. we can already see redeemed members here proudly remarking that they have the biggest auditorium in the world. Is that the point? pride?
The New Testament in the Bible is the guide to the New Covenant we find ourselves under, and far more emphasis is paid to giving your things to the poor than paying tithes or making the 'Man of God' very comfortable. Kobojunkie is just being mischievous when he says anything given to the poor will have little or no impact. There's no way several orphanages will not positively shape lives of the homeless babies forever, no way that boreholes willm not be of enormous benefit to people without water. Why scorn such measures to build an unneccessarily expensive edifice?

Why would a church that babbles so much about Youth empowerment, why would a man who claims that God told him Nigeria will be the greatest nation in the world choose to forsake talents in Nigeria and select a chinese company to build the auditorium? If everyone follows his lead, is that how Nigeria will become great?

Perhaps Jakumo was right. Sheep! Jesus tried to de-emphasize material things in favour of spiritually enriching things. I guess that doesn't suit Nigerians, does it? The more ostentatious, the better.
If Jesus were to appear in Nigeria, he wouldn't be taken seriously if he wasn't driving an SUV and wearing a 3-piece suit.

Mamajama is anti-Adeboye. To you that means he's an Anti-Christ. That means in your eyes Adeboye = Christ.
See how your lot slip into Blasphemy?

Now please, show me anywhere in the New Testament where Jesus or the apostles said the House of God should be the biggest and most beautiful on earth. I myself can only pinpoint where Jesus and the apostles advised people to give their things to the poor to obtain spiritual treasure.

But that isn't acceptable to you sheep, abi?

This just goes to show just how pathetic some Nigerians are now. A country descending fast into intellectual bancruptcy.

Yeah. More money to the pockets of the criminals/Pastors. Thats exactly what God wants

What a waste of time to even debate this. The criminals will keep on ripping off the guliable

And the gulliable who are foolish enough to keep giving their money to these pastors/thieves probably deserve t be ripped off angry angry

Meanwhile the Criminals keep building bigger houses to accomodate more sheepish sheep

Pathetic
