Look at you..... his political ambition was secured after removing hausas and yorubas.....but now that he has removed ibos his political ambition is dead. How does that sound to your ego?

His ambition was doomed after he deported hausas and now doubly doomed. His deportation of Yorubas may not affect him because Yoruba will vote for a devil as long as it is a Yoruba devil.

IF THE "DEPORTEES" COMMITTED OR BREACH THE STATE LAW, UNDER WHAT ARRANGEMENT DID HE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THEY ARE ALL ANAMBRARIANS? AND WHY WOULD HUMAN BEINGS BE DUMPED UNDER SUCH CONDITIONS IN ONITSHA AT SUCH AN UNHOLY HOUR? WHY DIDN'T ONITSHA TRADERS SEIZE THE DRIVERS AND CONFISCATE THE 9 BUSES? THAT WOULD HAVE DRAWN THE BATTLE LINE BTWN LAGOS AND ANAMBRA AND THIS MATTER ADDRESSED APPROPRIATELY. FASHOLA IS A FOOL! A BIGOT! AND A COWARD!

The traders could not do that for fear that their action will be misinterpreted for MASSOB activity, which will be worse problem when police and army get on the scene. it would not be a war between Lagos and Anambra....it will be a war between onitshavtraders and army. you get my point? so stop fronting for rights you dont have on your own soil.....much more in Lagos.

By the way, this practice is not limited to Lagos State. Abuja has also returned people to their states of origin.

The people that saw them come off a bus did not ask where they were coming from, and why they were returned. If they were returned wrongly am sure they would have gone to the press to complain. Who knows, they could have been part of the recently released criminals who were pardoned for awaiting trial too long, and needed a ride home. Or they may have been beggars. The story is full of holes. I wonder why a so called governor will come to the press to give unclear stories.

Lagos, Abuja accused of dumping destitutes in Kaduna

September 18, 2009 | 12:02 am

By Emeka Mamah

Kaduna -  Kaduna State Government, yesterday, accused the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos and Niger State governments of allegedly dumping destitutes in the state.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Maryam Laka Madami made this known while briefing newsmen on the rationale behind the decision of the state government to repatriate destitutes in the state to their states of origin.

The state government’s joint task force for the relocation of the destitutes in the state evacuated about 2,000 destitutes from the streets and transported them in several truckloads to their states of origin, Monday.

The destitutes were escorted by anti-riot policemen to Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano and Jigawa states.

Madami, however, said that the Lagos State government dumped the 65 destitutes at the Kaduna end of the Abuja-Kaduna expressway adding that some of the affected destitutes were non-natives of the state.

She further accused the FCT and the Niger State government of similarly dumping beggars in the state.

According to her, it was the action of the Lagos and Niger state governments, as well as the FCT, that forced Kaduna to send away those destitutes from its territory  as the destitutes had constituted themselves into nuisance.

Seriously, are you telling me that if former President Obasanjo is seen in Lagos State, he will be deported to Ogun State or Anambra State as in the original post. I find your argument completely out of logic. No one is referencing neither the UN or the US in this argument. This is the kind of argument that drives apartheid, segregation of people without true reason.

Civic responsibility of a citizen versus freedom of a citizen to exist and reside anywhere within the country, please tell me which one comes first. Existence or Action which one presides the other. TO BE or TO DO which one is more pertinent. Before we embark upon any action we must exist, without existence no action can be carried out.

As a result, I ask for the reason why these people should not be allowed to exist. What were their actions or inactions that made them not responsible as Lagosians? What is the civic responsibility of Lagosians? Very rhetorical, I will answer that for you. The civic responsibility of Lagosians is to deny other Lagosians their right to exist. If these people violated any laws and codes of Lagos, then they should face proper prosecution and incarceration if possible; not deportation to MARS.

The only difference between the action of Lagos State Government and an Abortionist trade is murder. Lagos State Government has in every sense of humanity and logic denied these people the opportunity to exist.

Consequently, I stand on my point that this is a violation of the Nigerian citizenry.

I'll argue that, in all honesty, the Lagos state government acted constitutionally and in the interest of Lagosians. The latitude that Lagos and, by implication, the southwest have granted people from other regions isn't what Igbo people could do.

Do people now need visas to enter Lagos state?

Fashola has to be very careful with the way he treats non indigines of the state or else he would end up wrecking Lagos and having countless enemies for himself.

To be honest...I'm beginning to hate that man.

Why would he drop people in Anambra state? Is something wrong with him? Can't he respect my state?

Or does Anambra state look like a human refuse bin to him?

Dudu_Negro: Saintneo,

The people living in Lagos State have a civic responsibility to the state. This action by Lagos State is supported by the customary laws and those laws recognize and identify citizenship strictly by ward and ancestry. The constitution of Nigeria further recognize and empower those customary laws as the basis of indigeneity for any member state in the sovereingty. If you suppress the customary laws in favor of the Constitution then you must also dissolve the traditional Chiefs and fire the Obas and the title holders.....basically erode the culture.

If you do it for Lagos, you must do it for all other states. If the other states must keep their customary laws intact, then so must Lagos.

On the substance of the matter itself, who are these people and why were they deported?

On the lagality, Lagos State, by this action, has not acted in counter to any provision or statutes of Constitution and is therefore not in violation of the right of citizenship clause.

Please locate the nearest psychiatrist centre to your house for immediate attention.

dozies: This is blatant nonsense and we are talking of one Nigeria and to the Ibo's in particular no matter how highly placed this can happen to you if unabated. Remember the farm rat case. It is simply playing out here. Most of your investment is in Lagos state and its environs because you believe in one Nigeria. This Lagos state government action is a proof that there is no such thing as one Nigeria.
To Ndigbo in general, if you are not among those people deported today because you are privilege to stand on your feet, know it that it is a special gift to you the batten can change hands tomorrow if not in your generation it may happen soon after you. Learn from this treatment and adjust your stand today. Nigeria is not one and will never be one. So let us stop deceiving ourselves.

And for this reason an Hausa man will loot the treasury because he believes that the Nigerian state is temporal. Our togetherness as one nation is temporal. So grab as much as you can if you have the opportunity but you Ibos will expend you lives developing another man's land tomorrow your Children will be deported from thesame land you labored so much to develop........Ohhhhhh what a shame.
@dozies
you've painted a fearful pictures but can my brothers agree with what you have just said?
