John chapter 2

The Wedding at Cana

1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." 4 And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come." 5 His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.[t] 7 Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said to them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast." So they took it. 9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now." 11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

12 After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers[t] and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

13 The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. 15 And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. 16 And he told those who sold the pigeons, "Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade." 17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."

18 So the Jews said to him, "What sign do you show us for doing these things?" 19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." 20 The Jews then said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?" 21 But he was speaking about the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

Jesus Knows What Is in Man

23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. 24 But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people 25 and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.

Really,

Its nice seeing something like this here but I would prefer its made into a thread chapter by chapter if you are discussing on the book of John...

One thing I love about his book is the kind of audience and how he did his own writings made apart from the other synoptic gospels... some say he used theirs as a guide in writing his being that Mark wrote first before Matthew then Luke and John writing his last.

This chapter gave me some thoughts, which I still ponder on till date...

HumbledbYGrace: John chapter 2

The Wedding at Cana

1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, "They have no wine." 4 And Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come." 5 His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
Does this means that we can... and have the power to change the mind of God? He said His time has not yet come, yet His mother made him perform a sign. If we look through the book of Genesis in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham also did the same thing by asking God for more... more and more till no one was found except Lot. His mother told the servants and she left... Jesus worked on her belief system... hmmmm another insight... the belief system triggered Him to start His ministry earlier... It is well!

Here we saw something else... John referred to it as Signs... really I wonder why not miracles... Probably miracles have been happening all around them by Magicians and other belief systems but he regarded this to be a sign that Truly, He is the Son of God.

Here, I could say that the first thing about being God like is to have Zeal for his house and work... Then we will be focused on Him and He likewise will focus on us and all that connects to us... This is like a web connection...

Another thought....

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: and Jesus also was bidden, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when the wine failed, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. And Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it

It says after three days the wedding took place. Some interprete it that it was supposed to be after seven days that Jesus started His ministry as God rested in the seventh day after doing some works of creation. More so, there are facts that the wedding took place exactly a year after He was baptized meaning He was 31 years old then... It was during that year that He went into the wilderness and was tempted of the devil as described in the synoptic gospels. I also laugh at some that deducted that the works of creation was deducted to be done in 7 days, that it means there will be 6 millenium and the sevent one will be the millenial reign of Christ.. hahaha

Hosea 6:2:

After two days will he revive us on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live before him

Some even refer to this wedding day as another sign unto the third day saying we will be revived unto everlasting life with the wedding with Christ.

Another thing of note we can talk of is about the way of reference to His mother... as the writter shows that He calls her Mother meaning He is now the Son of Man and not the Son of Mary.. Hmmm...

And the hour being referred to here is supposed to be the ninth hour? Or his hour of appearance a said earlier but if we can recall, He had already started gathering his disciples three days earlier... so maybe He was referring to the ninth hour when he handed the beloved disciple to Mary... also calling her Mother at the fot of the cross...

The will of the Lord is so clear about so many things in the scriptures, even when so many tend to display wisdom and knowledge at the detriment of the truth of the word. Our being known by God is not how much we know or what a very known popular man of "God" tells us, it is borne out of our personal love/relationship for/with Him.

But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.
