In a construction site
I saw her as I passed by,
A white goat.
Running round a well,
excited bleats.
I knew not why.

An echo I heard
or so I thought.
Did wells bleat too?
So I checked.
Nature's picture of helplessness-
In the well, a white kid.

It's hopless...
I thought aloud.
Its mother heard
and disagreed.
Her child must live!
She bleated again.

It's just a goat
I thought again
and turned to leave.
She saw me turn,
she saw me leave.
She saw the human turn to leave.

On goat legs...
the heart of a mother...
She ran towards me.
Another desperate bleat.
Save my son!
I thought I heard.

I can't help you.
I wished I could explain.
It's far too deep to try.
With guilt I stared in her eyes.
With hope she bleated some more.
On two legs, the human just walked away.

Oah, I love that! He speaks, she bleats... A silent plea for understanding, in words unspoken.

This not an original work, but my adaptation of Marilyn Mansons' Leave A Scar

Heartbreaker: The Song of the Sadist

The last thing I wanna do
Is hurt you
But it's STILL on my list
of new and inventive ways,
to rip your heart to bits

Think of me as a wet painting
Pretty, shiny and gleaming,
But ultimately still unfinished.
You may admire me,
But only from afar
If you touch me,
I'll be smeared,
But you'll be stained.
Stained for the rest of your life.

Think of me as a bullet,
Or a moving train
I'm moving fast,
Can you hold me?
and if I get into your heart,
Can you survive?

I am quite dangerous,
To myself,
Do you know,
I could be dangerous to others?
And what you thought was my smile,
Is really just a crack in my soul.

So baby spin on those fine heels
Baby just turn around
Before you fall in love with my beauty
And miss the monster within.

If you insist
That you're not afraid of being hurt
Then I'm not afraid of how much I'll hurt you

Yes you may love me,
And yes you'll probably f u c k me,
But chances are,
I will probably f u c k you over

And baby....
What doesn't kill you...
......
At all at all....

...it'll leave a scar

Nigeria Is Sick

Paste this on your wall as poster or sticker
Send it through Fed-Ex, DHL, whichever is quicker
Beam your light on it, not just a flicker
"Patience may be sick but Nigeria is sicker

Patience may have been diagnosed of food poison, fibroid, or parkinson
But Nigeria has for long being suffering from corruption and its poison
With our right to good living jailed in political prison
And our leaders doing as they wish without giving us reason

Patience may have gone to Germany to rest
But for long Nigeria has known no rest, north, south, east or west
Boko haram among others has put our society to test
And conquering this monster appears to be an impossible quest

Of course patience, we wish you well
Just as we pray that Nigeria will one day be free from her spell
That made her paradise to the leaders but the populace their hell
Or isn't a curse for our leaders to laugh while we cry and yell?

Patience we rejoice with you because for your sickness you found a cure
Your recent thanksgiving service made us this sure
But poor Nigeria! she remains sick and finding her a cure no one can assure
Yet, with the hope of a better tomorrow she continues to endure

Patience may be sick but Nigeria is sicker

Beam your light on it, not just a flicker

The Nobodies

They call him fat
They call him ugly
He is a fighter jet
With no wings and no wheels
He's going nowhere fast

No-one understands her
No-one gives a shyt
she's doing the moonwalk
On the highway
She's going nowhere fast

We are the Nobodies
We just want to be one of you!

They tell him of a God
A vicious compassionate Lord
A king that sees into his heart

They tell her of a Cause
And of People who embrace without a pause
A Cause that is sustained from her heart

We know you're Nobodies
Come be one of us!

His God is very angry
His God is very cross
These infidels! These Pagans!
They are NOT Pious!

Her Cause requires Sacrifice
Her Cause requires Guts!
These Non-believers must be Shown!
This battle MUST be Fought!

We need Somebodies
You must fight for us!

He is a soldier
Fighting for his God
He is divine retribution in the flesh
He is the the Judgement of his Lord
He WILL murder the infidels!
He WILL bathe in their blood!

HIS GOD WILLS IT!
HIS GOD WILLS IT!!

She is a soldier
Fighting for her Cause
She is a bullet
Fired from a Sniper's rifle
Smiting down her foes
Like a Cause-shaped Mallet.

Non-believers MUST Die!

HER CAUSE WILLS IT!
EVERYTHING FOR THE CAUSE!!

He lays dying on the floor
His body shredded to pieces
Searching with his last breaths
For the Angel
The one that was promised him

She stands at the gallows
Noose around her neck
Searching with her final breaths
For her Comrades
The ones that promised to be there to the end

You are Nobodies
You died for us!
We remain Sombodies
Our gain is your loss.

amberacious: The Mysterious Girl

(An amberacious version of 'HOPE' by Tgirl4real)

As I drove down the street, I noticed this girl with this mysterious look
She dressed like one of these Togolese immigrants hired as a cook
She looked mysteriously lost like she was in a hook.
My guess was, either something was taken from her or there was something she unlawfully took

I slowed down to take a closer look as I changed my gears
I noticed her skin was bruised, her clothes torn showing her underwears
I could see in her eyes cloud of tears
I wanted to park but the hoodlums around her were my fears

I pondered on this mysterious girl as I continued my journey
There were only two possibilities: one, that this girl stole some money
And the other, that some hoodlums molested her and forcefully took from her honey
Which ever one, the girl definitely at that moment needed an attorney

A scene like this is not strange in my neighbourhood
Where people are seen hustling to make livelihood
Kids grow up here without experiencing good parenthood
My submission is this mysterious girl is another likelihood.....

THIS IS LAGOS

As a new entrant
you pass for the name JJC

Like the led of a pencil
it is expected
you will sharpen up

There is no luxury
of chewing a stick
and counting the birds in the sky
Arise my friend
This is Lagos

Do well to know
that the bus stop is not
the usual stop
It is often a wrestling to
board or alight

Three times you may be asked
"Yes owo da mbeyen"
a common ritual to oblige
only but once

Like the sons of Issachar
recognise the times to blow
as Obahiagbon and when
to borrow from the garage lexicon

You are advised to hold
the correct fare
or be solemnized
with a total stranger

Our traffic is constant
but friendly
You will get all to eat
breakfast, lunch or dinner

At the close of a trimester
you should be home and dry
in this centre of excellence

Whether by BRT or BRF
this is Lagos; Eko akete ilu ogbon!

It had been here even before it made the FrontPage.
All the while people were contributing, it was here.
All poem threads were moved here for organization.
Maybe, I will discuss a name change for this sub-section with Seun.
Thanks

THIS IS SHE!
On order that must be obeyed
I sing of a dear little maid;
A mirthfully serious,
Sober, delirious,
Gently imperious
Maid.

And first we'll consider her eyes
(Alike as to color and size);
Her winkable, blinkable,
Merrily twinkable,
Simply unthinkable
Eyes.

Then, having a moment to spare,
We turn our attention to hair;
Her tendrilly-curlative,
Tumbly-and-whirlative,
Super-superlative
Hair.

Forbear to dismiss with a shrug
Her nose, undeniable pug;--
Her strictly permissible,
Turn-up-like-thisable,
Urgently kissable
Pug.

Now, moving a point to the south,
We come to an Actual Mouth;
A coral, pearliferous,
Argumentiferous,
Mainly melliferous
Mouth.

Observe, underneath it, a chin,
Connoting the dimple within;
A steady, reliable,
Hardly defiable,
True, undeniable
Chin.

By all that is fair! it appears
We'd almost forgotten her ears!
Those never neglectable,
Tinted, delectable,
Highly respectable
Ears!

And last let us speak of herself,
That blithe little gipsy and elf,
Her quite unignorable,
Absence-deplorable,
Wholly adorable
Self.

A CALL FOR LIFE

These offspring we see
on our busy and
dangerous roads
they are the heritage of God

They were born like us
pregnant with world
changing destinies
aborted by circumstance of life

Children with bottles of nuts
laden with bags of water
racing with vehicles
exchanging goods for cash

I see them exude sweat
demanded by the scorch of sun
clothed with discoloured complexion
surviving for a hopeless tomorrow

The looks in their eyes
The unspoken words of their hearts
The breath from their lungs
A righteous call for life

Oh men in power
People of affluence
Good spirited humans
I call thee to question

Attend thine ears
Move your hearts
Let the portion due
be available to all

They are the heritage of God
deserving of a life
worthy for humans
like you and I

The Revenge Mission

My pains from teenage
My past, my garbage
My scar, my image
My life, my damage

Mother nature showed no favour
Took away mum before i was four
And the father that was my only saviour
On my fifth birthday, the earth chose to devour

At the time my life ought to boom
Mother nature again cursed my beauty to bloom
A beauty programmed to be my doom
As men would only help me if i will end up in their bedroom

Nothing goes for nothing they would say
I will assist you if you will come with me to lay
And when I refuse and say nay
Then I must be ready to starve for that day

I had no one in whom to confide
No one supported me, none was by my side
Everyone, old and young took me for a ride
They took advantage of my predicament at the expense of my pride

But when I went to the clinic because I was ill
And was tested positive of the ailment not curable by any pill
I activated my revenge mode with just one dream to fulfill
Repay men in their coin as they have licensed me to kill

Now you will see the monster you made from teenage
The maggot that will turn your treasure to garbage
Your worst nightmare, the most horrible image
Your life, My damage

If you've never been poor
If you've never begged for remnant on the floor
If you've never been abused by men and thrown out through the door
Then don't judge me because you can't understand my story nor follow its spoor!
