I finally solved the screen freezing and malfunctioning on Umidigi A5 pro.

I initially took it to a repairer on Monday, I told him " I want to remove the front glass and glue it back". He said if he opens the phone, he might break something that I should keep managing it like that, I should order for the screen and give him to fix a new one. I left there because my screen is still good as new. Not yet broken.

Last night, I used a razor blade, the blunt edge to pull the screen a little bit up starting from the bottom at those lining to the top. I couldn't pull it so much up because it is attached to the panel at the back. I was careful when I got to the top left side, cox that's where the screen flex is, if it's cut the screen will go blank.

After slightly pulling all sides up, I noticed there was no freezing or malfunctioning whatsoever. I thought of to keep using it like that but it was a little ugly at the bottom, the screen lights were shinning out.

The next day, I took it to a repairer, I told him I wanted to use his phone glue. I pulled each side up using the blunt edge of the razor while he was applying the gum. I did it around all sides. He used a rubber band to tighten the screen, left it for 15min and cleaned the glue off using a chemical. I gave him #200.
I got home and cleaned it properly using à detergent and sponge. The screen looked new, Lol.

Now no more freezing or touch malfunctioning.

If you still love your phone, you don't wanna sell it because of how good it is and you're up for it, then you can try it out.

By the way, I'm on Android 11 with January security patch

Change your APN from internet.ng.zain.com to internet.ng.airtel.com.

Make sure you have data. You can't browse without data.

Yeah, it's happening to everyone. The build quality is pretty bad. It's because the front glass is a little pulled up at the left hand corner after months of usage.

Someone solved it by removing the front glass and pasting it back.
I'm gonna meet a good phone engineer to do that for me on Monday.

What steps did you carry out to resurrect it?

I'm enjoying my A7 pro and i can play PES 2021 on it....someone told me it won't work and I gave it a try and it worked perfectly.

Most times people don't take good advice. I always said it could play it smoothly without lags at low graphics and 60fps, someone that doesn't use the phone kept arguing.

A7pro has a higher display resolution and RAM.

Since you're a girl, those things shouldn't bother you.
You can go for the A7S and play with the thermometer function.

since on the 31st of dec I haven't experienced any freezing... I guessed umidigi gave me a new year happiness

The freezing happens because the front glass which has the touch digitized is no longer properly fitted in, the glue has faded.

To permanently solve it, meet a good repairer, to remove the front glass and glue it back PROPERLY. Trust me.


If you used super glue before like I suggested, use it again, press the top part of the screen in while applying on both sides. Apply many, Lol.

I already did mine. No single freeze anymore

I have a challenge o. My MTN sim is not registering on my A5 pro, Started about 3 days ago, when the sim is in, it shows sim tray empty, but my 9 mobile sim is working.
I have shutdown and restarted lot of times, interchanged the sims, left it alone, tried all sort but its not coming up. tried it on other umidigi phones and a huawei phone but no show.
Even got in touch with MTN on twitter and they said the sim is showing active from their end.

Please has anyone experienced this, and does anyone have a solution to offer.

What I did a long time ago was to look for the app Android Setup from settings, ≥ System Apps.
Force stop or Disable the Android Setup.

I get you. When I mean it doesn't recognize it. I meant there is no connection sound. Normally, you would hear a connection sound, and after installing the necessary drivers, you use SPFlash tools or whatever flash tools you use, load the rom, select the scatter file and seat back and wait for the firmware to be loaded unto the phone.

I understand you. But the stupid phone won't just do anything

Charge for 1hr, turn off the phone, turn up your PC volume, use a good cable. Try again.

I know how to flash firmware, but the system has to atleast recognized the phone being plugged into the system before you can move on with anything but there is no FUCKING response whatsoever.

It doesn't have to f*cking recognize it, I only needs to make a connected sound.

It shows you have not flashed a ROM before.

If you don't want to learn, you can keep your phone in the drawer.

Let's resurrect the phone together

You shouldn't have taken it to a repairer. You f*cked up.

If you have a problem with your Umidigi phone, there is an Umidigi thead you can seek for advice on what to do next.

Your phone is bricked. Hold power button for 15sec to shut down completely.
Go to Umidigi community website, download the firmware, flash the firmware to your phone and it will be good as New.

Thanks I v glued mine with black gum but came up after some time.

Check if the edges goes inside when you press them in. If it does, that's where the problem is coming from.
