by the way rumour has it that the German police now allow people(they arrested for deportation) to "escape" . rumour has it that the government feels its cheaper than a deportation and that this way deportee has to take responsibility for himself. But if you do not use the oppunity to espape they deport you.
for example after arrest you say you want to use the bathroom or pick your money from the bank. they make room for you to run.
after arrest and escape you definitely cannot stay in your old life.
Re: 136 Ba Passengers Removed From Jet Over Deportee Row by mamaput(f): 12:11pm On Apr 20, 2008
i know of someone it happened to but he is from Angola or Congo.
they picked him up at his place of work.he asked the police if he could first branch home to change and then pick his money from the bank. he ran away from the bank.
his flight would have been on that same day. he was arrested at about 1pm and was to be deported at about 5:30 pm.
while we were talking about how lucky he was to bail some were saying its not luck but a new system.
if they really want to get rid of someone like in some bad cases(drugs) they take you non stop to the airport in handcuffs. even allowing you to use the loo wil be a grace

Thank you so much for posting this thread. This is one of the things i don't like about Nigerians, Mr Omitade is a true Hero in my book. I would have done the same thing. If i was on that plane, i would have politely asked all Africans (Not just Nigerians) to exit the plane. The white people cares about their money and they would not fly an empty plane to Lagos. And if you don't fly that plane you are entitled to refund of your money. This is called a non-violent protest of our rights. These Oyinbo people do these things to us because they feel like we will not do anything. It's high time we start fighting together as a black race, because if we don't. It can only get worse. Thank you so much Mr Omitade. THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS I CAN NEVER LIVE IN BRITAIN! THEY ARE BACKWARDS. NO CIVIL RIGHT, NO MINORITY RIGHT PROTECTION. I SAY BOYCOTT, BRITISH AIRWAYS NOWWW!

Your reasoning are very shallow. So because the man is being brutalized and being deported, he should have been quiet?? Or they should have a separate plane for deportees because they make some kind of noise. Like this is your father's land. You failed to realize that most of these white law enforcement officers are very overzealous. Even though, the man is illegal in the country yet he still deserve some kind of human dignity but i guess you failed to realize that because you think these white officers are God !! Your first reply was highly repugnant. If all the blacks and the minority in the world adopt your views, slavery and lynching will still be in existence today. Thank God for acts of people like Dr. Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and Mr Omitade on that "Brutalized" airways plane. GET REAL WILL YA? AND LOOK THESE WHITE FOLKS IN THE EYES, THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN HUMANS !! I wonder how they treat you on the job, i bet you roll over for them.

i watched the tape . the way that man speaks i will never believe he wrote that statement. he must have had a ghost writer.
and i will never sign any paper when it has to do with airlines. the next thing i know is that they will drag me out some place for some reason because am on some black list.
they must have told him the first time to go back to his sit. why do they have to tell him that more than once.
he must have instigated the others.as the ringleader he was the only one arrested.

@mamaput - Just out of curiousity, what's the relationship between the way he speaks and the statement he wrote?

he speaks like a semi illiterate.

So because the man is being brutalized and being deported, he should have been quiet?? Or they should have a separate plane for deportees

so what are they to do. not deport them. even Nigeria deports people. these people scream and shout because they want the pilot not to take them.
it has happened often enough that a pilot refuses or that passangers refuse.
if you got down for no reason no one will refund your money a trip to Nigeria dose not fall under charter flights Nigeria is not a tourist country people go home or for business
and not to look at palmtrees

Interesting - I've gone through the same video and couldn't detect any grammar or vocab errors. Or is it that he sounds semi-illiterate because he speaks with an accent (a yoruba accent?). Thanks for clarifying anyway.
Re: 136 Ba Passengers Removed From Jet Over Deportee Row by mamaput(f): 3:36pm On Apr 20, 2008
it has notting to do with the accent,
he was trying to impress .
he made use of big words he is not used to. and his sentences did not flow.
maybe he was just nervous.

Did you even understand what I wrote you, pompous slowpoke. First off I said I didnt support Omotade's arrest albeit for different reasons than other people. Btw why the hell shouldnt they be quiet? NO WHERE did it say that he was being brutalized. Blind lunatic. It said "the man kept saying I go die", Nowhere did it say he wa being "brutalized", obviously he was making noise to get attention o he was thinking about the disgrace to which he'd be returning to Nigeria, are you insane? just because you go around with your low rent airlines when you travel and are used to brutes screaming doesnt mean I shouldnt at least speak for those that have to listen to such garnbage when they actually PAID real money to enjoy their flights. I still maintain that they should have their own planes and if you have a problem with that, you can always go to hell. Ode, where id di even say anything about white people being "gods" you think I'm you? wannabe Texas dork, obviously you didnt even read a good majority of my comments so just stfu and thanks for the message you left, you better keep your word. LOL@Sweet T how many times have you been to the UK? Yes please be quiet and stop your yapping, Maybe we should talk about Deportations in the USA,

The dumb thing is a lot of these people who are dragged back home like animals usually got snitched on by a fellow bastard Nigerian!

Currently there is an action group in the UK known as no borders who want to ban all deportations on commerical flights I agree with this.  If I paid over £500 for a flight I dont want to see a horror show onboard.
Its not pretty to see people screaming for their lives,

Your posts said it all, "An untrained goof who thinks the life begins and ends in chasing after boys". I'd rather chase after a 13 years old than have a "Half date" with you". Did i miss your quotes about Rosa parks too? You run up and down Nairalland with a loose mouth, why don't you get a grip? What is fun in some deportees getting beat by some overzealous immigration officer? Will getting a separate plane for deportees stop the attitudes of those idiots towards Africans? You don't get, do you? I bet if that guy was a chinese or an American, that ugly scene would not have taken place. It's high time we respect ourselves and quit sucking these white boys' balls. But i'm sure you wouldn't understand, it wasn't in your training manual !! You pay-less shoes , half dollar, money grabbing loose mouthed heifer !! angry angry

Taye do your reserach you can never stop deportations not only the UK deports you know.

But at the end of the day it is wrong to throw these people back to their homelands in such a public and often violent manner.

It is also wrong to inflict this kind of horror on those who have bought tickets to go on holiday or whatever.

You can talk why is it when people are deported back to Nigeria they go straight to prison!!! How can you talk about other nations treating Africans badly when in their own homeland they are treated far worse!

@Sienna

Who told you Omotade was aggressive? The man did the proper thing by speaking up against the maltreatment of his fellow African. That's a definition of a man's "Ball". something i'm sure you don't understand. Even if Omotade didn't speak up, it's dam n you Dam n you don't !! British airways has been doing this sh*t for a long and that's why i banned myself from ever flying them. It's not only Africans, they did the same thing to Naomi Campbell, Snoop Dog amongst others. What Omotade did is a justifiable protest against an "eye sore". Most european airlines are not any better. I remember KLm doing similar thing to a Nigerian woman in Holland over some $20 over charge. Thank God me and another guy was present on that spot, Other Nigerian men just stood there like a log and looked on. Can you imagine a grown woman getting abused in front of her children over some $20 bill? The white lady even apologized (after the incidents and after some threat of calling the police).Because we made it known to her that she was wrong. IT'S HIGH TIME AFRICANS START SPEAKING UP AND QUIT FEARING THESE OPPRESSORS. WE DID NOTHING TO DESERVE MOST OF THE ABUSE WE GET BOTH AT HER HOME AND ABROAD.
Re: 136 Ba Passengers Removed From Jet Over Deportee Row by 4Him1(m): 6:03pm On Apr 20, 2008
Sweet T, sorry but your's is misplaced patriotism.
On this same thread there were reports of whites being removed from airlines for disturbing the peace, none of them is crying racism and threatening to boycott the airline.
We all know how Nigerians behave, we seem to think aggression, shouting and being unruly are the best ways to solve a problem. Unfortunately i doubt if the pilot is willing to risk his life with unruly passengers at 50000ft in the air.

To start with the deportee was in gross violation of recognised law, to plead on his behalf is more confirmation to the British authorities that we are a people who condone illegality.

Why dont you get your own airline before you talk of boycotting theirs?

http://card./2007/02/25/nigeria-cracks-down-on-illegal-aliens/

Nigeria is cracking down on “illegal aliens” from neighbouring countries whom the authorities call a “nuisance”. Niger and Chad seem to have been singled out in the clampdown with thousands of their nationals packed into lorries and taken to the border,

It's easier for you to say that in the cozy of your home. People all over the world migrate from one spot to the other for different reasons. Most Nigerians do it because of the harsh economic condition @ home. But regardless of time being up or not, Treat African deportee as you would an American deportee or a Chinese. We are all human and possess certain human dignity. The Deported Nigerian must have had it so bad for him to yell out in pain. These people know it's against their own law to brutalize or torture anybody but they do it because it's "AFRICANS".

No American will disgrace himself living as an illegal alien anywhere in the world.
Until we get our own house in order and stop paying (dis)honorable legislators $1000/day in lunch money then we have no right to ask for "dignity" when we are caught violating the laws of other lands.

Re: 136 Ba Passengers Removed From Jet Over Deportee Row by ajadrage: 6:15pm On Apr 20, 2008
the issue is not the deportation per se as the guy being deported must have found himself in some compromising situation. the issues here are first the inhuman conditions that these actions are carried out in, fine the guy had done wrong, enough to earn have him extricated from that society, but does that justify his being treated under subhuman conditions?

secondly, i learned that when a fellow nigerian raised objection as to the manner of his compatriot being mis handled, which he had every right to, he was detained prior to the protestations of other nigerian passengers which earned them this ejection. is that the right thing to do? methinks that the nigerian who spoke up performed an heroic act, that in the intimidating face of the british law enforcement agencies he could speak up on the rights of not only a fellow nigerian, but a human being entitled to some certain level of dignity.

one might break the law, but the punishment for that is deportation abi, what is the crime for the meting out of inhuman treatment that the guy was given? what about the inconvenience and embarrassment of detention suffered by that brave guy who spoke up? what about the very many appointments and schedules of the over 100 stranded passengers that either had to be cancelled or rescheduled? what is the reaction of the officials that are concerned with our diplomatic and crossboarder relations?

it is a pity that everyday nigerians are the ones doing our image laundry with their various laudable exploits in their various fields of endeavour while the government and her agencies are busy tarnishing her image with their wanton greed, corruption and crass inefficiency. let the spirit of the nigerian soar like the eagle emblazoned on our coat of arms, na our naija and no oyibo is superior to me meeen. i support the total boycott of anything british airways until their government tender an unreserved apology and adequate compensation to the gentleman who was detained without valid reason, the disembarked passengers should sue for a breach of contract and emotional damages and the airline in question should be sanctioned by the necessary authorities both in the uk and nigeria (if possible).

if we no give ourselves respect, they would'nt give it to us, and no be all nigerians be bad people, that's the message that we should tell the world. . .
Re: 136 Ba Passengers Removed From Jet Over Deportee Row by SweetT1: 6:15pm On Apr 20, 2008
@Lady T

Sweetheart, there is nothing wrong in deportation but do it with some kinda dignity and human right. The only reasons why most of these airlines are doing these things are because Africans, especially Nigerians refuse to act. There is power in Economic power. And if Nigerians start flying a lesser abusive airline and document the abuse from British airways by taking photographs of the ills that happened to that deportee and posting it online or sending it to media outlets, most of these abuses will stop. Because they know bad publicity is bad for business, no passenger (Be it Japanese or American) wants to hear or see any bad news about the airline they are flying.
