With the recent controversy around Tinubu’s academic qualifications, some people have been making suggestions that HE Rotimi Amaechi, who came second at the APC presidential primaries, should brace up to replace Tinubu in the event that the latter is disqualified from the race.

But I make this piece to explain why that is no longer feasible.

After the controversy that Kogi election generated where the governorship candidate died before the declaration of results and APC leadership nominated the aspirant who came second at the party guber primaries, Yahaya Bello, to inherit the votes instead of the running mate, James Faleke, to the dead candidate inheriting the votes since the ran on a joint ticket, the Electoral Act 2022 set out to correct and forestall such occurrence from ever happening again.

So, by the provision of the Electoral Act 2022, once a candidate nominates a running mate, such running mate would be the beneficiary if anything happens to the candidate himself.

In simple terms, if Tinubu gets disqualified right now, the beneficiary of such disqualification would be Ibrahim Masari and not any other person including Amaechi.

However, Masari might decide to hand in his withdrawal from the race which is where somebody like Amaechi might come in or he will decide to pick Amaechi as his running mate.

The case would have been different if Tinubu had not nominated a running mate though .

Some might want to argue that Ibrahim Masari is but a ‘placeholder’. Well, that is only known to APC and Tinubu and not INEC and the law. By law, Ibrahim Asari is Tinubu’s running mate as of today. Just like Doyin Okupe is Peter Obi’s running mate by law.

With this, I hope you have been enlightened on the provision of the law as regards such occurrence.

Make no mistake, the current Presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu attended primary and secondary schools. The only reason he would rather lie that he never attended any school than submit his certificates to INEC Nigeria is because all those documents contain personal informations about who HE REALLY IS: i.e. his real name, his age, his educational qualifications, his ancestry, etc.
