If this news is true then Ajimobi is in trouble. Those who follow SW politics know that NO GOVERNOR HAVE WON RE-ELECTION since the History of Oyo State. Akala lost because Ibadan People said NO SECOND TERM that Ibadan man must succeed Him. Akala is from Ogbomoso with full support but he LOST because Ibadan was not on his side. Ladoja is an Ibadan man so collaborating with Akala will mean KNOCK-OUT for Ajimobi. May the better candidate win

Ladoja, Akala can’t match Ajimobi –ACN

The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has described the recent rapprochement between former Oyo State governors, Senator Rasheed Ladoja and Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, as a panicky measure.

The party said the parley between the hitherto sworn enemies was an indication that its Oyo State chapter and Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s ratings had risen to a formidable level.

The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Dauda Kolawole, said in a statement issued yesterday in Ibadan, the state capital, that the gang-up had shown the political desperation of the two former governors and an admission of the fact that, individually, they could not face Ajimobi and the ACN in the 2015 elections.

He said: “We are very happy about this gang-up. Wonders indeed can never end.

“That these two strange bedfellows, who had, a while ago, fought a titanic battle to destroy each other, one releasing details of the corruption of the other while in government and the other telling the world that his successor was crass illiterate, could come together to fight Ajimobi shows that our governor is now a mighty Iroko tree that these two gladiators needed to come together to fell. But, combined, the two cannot measure up.”

Kolawole said that, against the thinking of the two former governors, politics in Oyo State had moved beyond brickbats, hatred, personal animosities and selfish ego gang-up.

He said: “We are sorry for them. Our politics is no longer analog but digital. Oyo people now x-ray issues and take position.

“The level of governance and government in our state now is such that the two can no longer fit into them.

“We have taken governance beyond the brigandage, amala politics and bloodletting that they were both renowned for. We talk development as yardstick of ratings now.

dayokanu: We Oyo people roundly reject anything that has to do with Akala and PDP

He should carry his "Fanta face Coke leg" to wherever PDP is ruling

The figures below were officially declared by INEC Nigeria for Oyo State Governorship election

ACN : 420,822.
PDP : 387132.
Accord : 275,773.

If politics is a game of number and no one has so far defected from the sides of PDP and Accord, then Ajimobi might not win a second term. Oyo state like Ekiti has never produced a second term governor and I am sure the two states will be watched with keen interest come 2015.

This is a prologue to the main Drama in Oyo State.

Afam4eva: So Ladoja has forgiven Akala after all he did to him. This just reinforces the saying that in politics there are no permanent friends but interests.

Btw, it seems these guys are giving ACN a taste of their own medicine by forming a merger. But i don't know what these guys have to offer Oyo. Their administration was an embarassment especially that of Akala.

SEE YOUR MOUTH

DID YOU RESIDE IN IBADAN

quote author=tomakint]Former Oyo State governors, Senator Rashidi Ladoja and Otunba Adebayo Alao- Akala appeared in public together for the first time in years yesterday, swearing to wrest governance of the state from the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) come 2015.

It was at the inauguration of a 14-man joint committee set up to work out modalities of possible synergy between the Accord Party (AP) led
by Ladoja and Alao-Akala’s faction of the divided Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the 2015 project.

Some among the crowd of their supporters including drummers, women, men and youths that besieged the Bodija, Ibadan residence of Ladoja, venue of the event, openly burst into tears of joy, shouting “Oluwa o seun o, Oluwa o seun o”, (Thank you God)  as the two erstwhile political enemies stepped out of the house beaming with smiles, immediately after the inauguration, to uproarious cheers from the multitude.

Both politicians, who hitherto belonged to PDP, had fallen apart following perceived treacherous role of Akala, who was Ladoja’s deputy, in the infamous impeachment of the Accord Party’s national leader as governor in 2010. The ensuing estrangement polarized the party in the state, resulting in Ladoja breaking away to form the AP and scuttling the reelection bid of Alao-Akala in 2011.

But, as part of ongoing political realignments in the state, the duo have agreed to team up together, particularly after the pact Ladoja’s Accord Party had with Governor Abiola Ajimobi collapsed, with the governor’s sacking of all Accord Party members in his government about two months ago.

Addressing inquisitive newsmen after a closed door meeting with members of the newly inaugurated panel, Senator Ladoja said the committee was raised to explore and work out modalities of possible areas of mutual political relationship, co-operation and integration, to the benefit of the teeming people of the state, particularly ahead of 2015. The committee, which comprised seven nominees each from either camp, has one month to submit its report.

Akala, replying to questions from reporters on what to expect of the coalition in 2015, said with the new development, the days of the ACN in government of the state were numbered. “You know the two of us, you know our antecedents. We are grassroots politicians who connect with and control the people, compared to those playing hi-tech politics. You know our results in the last election. Calculate it and tell me the total. You must know that grassroots politics is different, it’s different from what the person there now is doing.”

The former governor reiterated that the arrangement did not imply joining Accord Party, querying: “When (Bola) Tinubu was romancing Buhari, did he leave ACN, or did (Muhammadu) Buhari quit CPC? Does that answer your question?” Speaking further, Akala lashed out at opponents of the alliance, saying they were threatened by the formidable forces of the two political icons. He said he was working with his former boss for the good of the masses, saying political alignment and realignment was not strange to democracy.

While Ladoja said they had been begging the governor to conduct local government election, Akala challenged Ajimobi to conduct the polls to test his popularity, boasting that he would not win a council if he dared.

Shortly after, Ladoja saw his ally to his waiting vehicle, amid jubilation by the milling crowd.

A political associate of Alao Akala, Mr. Femi Babalola (Jogor) described the rapprochement as “good for Oyo State politics,” and portending “good things for the common man.” The socialite said: “Before now, politics in the state has been static, but now, you are going to see live and energized activity. We don’t need to deceive ourselves we can’t talk about Oyo politics, without Akala and Ladoja. Let’s face it. These are the two people that rule Oyo State. They are the ones that hold the ace and make things happen politically.”

He disagreed that the two politicians were ganging up, against a single man (Governor Ajimobi), which probably underscored the high level of popularity of the latter with the electorate. “They are running not against one man, but joining their efforts together to help the common man, because if we are to face it, I haven’t seen any government in the state since 2011.”

The committee, whose initial membership was jacked up from 10 to 14 has as members: former Attorney General of the state under Ladoja, Chief Bayo Lawal; former state NURTW leader, Alhaji Tawakalitu Abubakrir; Mrs. Adeola Akintola; former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Adeolu Adeleke; Mr. Wahab Oyelade; former ALGON Chairman and Director Akala/Arapaja Campaign Organization, Mr. Ademola Ojo and Mr. Yinka Adewuyi.

Others are: A former commissioner under Akala, Kemi Olorunsogo; Dr. Nureni Adeniran; Chief Jacob .G. Adetoro; Wole Opadeye; Wale Ohu; Wahab Gbadeyero and former Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Soji Adejumo.

The meet was also attended by Akala’s former secretary to the state government, Dele Adigun, Chief Adigun Irawo (Oke Ogun), Dr. Kola Balogun and other former aides, commissioners, local government chairmen, special advisers and grassroots leaders of the two politicians.

akala lost that election because ladoja entered the race.akala was leading till the last minute when ibadan elders under the order of the king went to plead with ladoja ,some things happened which i cant say here that ladoja did to tilt it in favour of ajimobi.
akala had always said it that 10 tinubu cant displace him.the agreement reached between ajimobi and ladoja on the election day was what saved acn ,now that ajimobi has reneged on his agreement ladoja has no choice but to come back to pdp.no matter what ajimobi do or does he cant win in 2015.the best he can do now is to perform credibly and support another person withing acn .if acn should make the mistake of fielding him they will lose

Many an observer like you never know what plays in Oyo politics. Ladoja and Akala are jokes and before this event I told people that Akala reign in Oyo politics is over with his "madman and his dance" attitude. Ajimobi used Ladoja to corner the State House of Assembly, and resultantly stabilizes his young Government. Ajimobi, knowing Ladoja is overambitious - believing he would jettison the gentlemanly agreement, a bait he erroneously devour. Ladoja sensing a political execration when the Governor surprisingly sacked all the AP representatives in his government. He frustratingly starts this show of "madman and his dance" that which has no bearing with the rhythm. Oyo State politics has never been that of "Amala and Gbegiri" politics, I challenge anyone to debate this assertion. Its politics has been that of brigandage whose bandits are the like of Akala and Ladoja. Ibadan is where I was born and trained until work life take me to Lagos. The twilight of hope as evident in Ajimobi style of governance has been the culture of Ibadan, not the alien dawn we were bequeathed in the government of both acclaimed gladiators - Ladoja and Akala. Ajisebi Oyo la ari(The Pacesetter) is a slogan earn by Oyo State, beign the state of all firsts. I will not predict what will happen in the State comes 2015 but can attest that the culture of excellence which is the robe of honour that encircle our people in outlook and character is adorning us again. No Ladoja-Akala can stop the reign.

oyo politics is different ,the masses dont like ajimobi take that, those that like him are those in the middle class and it is quite unfortunate that this class of people are in the minority,a percentage of them dont even vote they may come online and say all sorts of thing but they have no bite .the people that matter are the grassroot, that is where the power lies and this set of people are the ones against ajimobi, they love their old ways al previous govt always leave them to be but once they decide to move against u there is nothing that can stop them.
take ladoja out of the 2011 elections and u would have seen how acn would have lost.tinubu and acn should have brought and bought ladoja over to their side ,ladoja stil controls at least 20%of oyo voters.now that pdp has taken him lets see how acn will win.

It wasn't that the monarch and Ibadan elders didn't meet with Ladoja as you said, they did but he (Ladoja) never obliged to them. He told them that as long as Ajimobi had right to contest, so also he too. After the house of Rep votes had been split, people became jittery that Akala might win the election. Practically at that time, Akala was ahead of all of them. What made things go against him was that Ibadan people turned away from Ladoja at the die minutes because he only focused on Oyo (maybe because of Adeleke) and Ibadan. As this issue was going Alaafin had to be beckoned with because Alaafin and Akala were at war then, and Alaafin was able to work on Oyo south monarchs and get their support to punish Akala at that time. Since Akala was from Ogbomosho, he could get the favour from Oyo north and had already counted Oyo central and Oyo south as "not winnable" for him. Ladoja's entrance to the scene and refusal to back out was a good one for Akala at that time. With Ibadan votes being split among ACN and AP in Oyo central, PDP had higher chance to get all votes for him in Oyo North, and votes splitting for him in Oyo south while others will scramble for the remaining in Oyo central. As God would have it, Oyo south slipped away from PDP, leaving only Oyo north for them. In the die minutes, Ibadan people rallied round support for Ajimobi to win; including Accord people.
I do I know this? My constituency, till tomorrow, is an Accord stronghold. I wasn't in Nigeria that time, but I was with political big-wigs who were placing calls home to get facts and consolidate on their mathematical calculations, right even on flight.
By the way, many people whom Akala had trusted to gain their supports duped him. I know them so well. They collected the money and voted against him. Many in my constituency also did it too.

i dont really feel like exposing much but i will due to the inteigent way and manner you have exhibited .
something happened on the election day at the coaliation centers ,i wont go into details but i will brief u.u can verify this from acn members, when the results were been brought him akala was leading,it was at this juncture an emergency meeting was called between ladoja and ibadan elders ,it was there he was prevailed upon to save ibadan, all the votes of oke ogun, ibarapa and all other were comin ,ladoja then asked them to leave 4 local goverments, ibadan south and some other 3.it was the combination of ap and acn votes in these local govts that tilted the balance.u can verify thiis.an agreement was reached before ladoja did what he did.

Your claim is unfounded. Who among Ibadan elders pleaded with Ladoja? Why all these concocted lies in order to give face to those already spent politically? To set the record straight for you, Ajimobe from the start of the race knew he would never win in Ibadan, owing to his popularity and the brigandage that rented the moment. Contrary to your claim, Ladoja "fight tooth and nail" but eventually lost to Akala in Ibadan. Ajimobi beats the duo miraculously in Ibadan and consolidate record with his triumph in Oke-Ogun with the aid of Ikubabayeye-Alaafin Oyo. Despite the money rain, bloodletting and intimidation they lost to Ajimobi. This is the rundown, the lesson here is that the votes in Ibadan didi not seal the Ajimobi victory but that from Oke-Ogu. Does the Oke-Ogun belong to Alao-Adewolu? I believe it's in the confide of Ikubabayeye. This should summarize the 2015.

Agreed, Ajimobi is miles away in governance compared to the two, this I acceded to in my post, but you must understand that Ibadan politics is more of roforofo fights than standardized politics as being given by Ajimobi's administrations! As for the grassroots politics you made mention of, yes Akala scored some points there over Ajimobi (do your research) with his 'Amala and Gbegiri style of politics' trust me, as much as I love Ajimobi's style of leadership especially in the area of structural developments he needs to understand Ibadan's definition of 'grassroots politics'! My point cool

U keep mentioning ibadan grassRoot politics...I believe those days are behind us, molete installed Govs (both ladoja nd akala) were voted out easily! We care about development, peace nd ofcos economic growth which is wat we r witnessing in oyo now, I believe ibadan's 11lG is totally supportin ajimobi 10lg of oke-ogun areas hv witnessed more progres combine d two past govs...3lgs of ibarapa always go wt ib...livin oyo 4lgs sitting on d fence...yea ogbomosho (5lgs)is stronghold of akala buh common a sitting gov we always make is mak...do d maths 11 + 10 + 3=24 good lukin wins 4 ajimobi//oyo 4lgs I am not sure buh I giv ajimobi 2 to 3 of dat area

Does the Oke-Ogun belong to Alao-Adewolu? I believe it's in the confide of Ikubabayeye. This should summarize the 2015.

You're overrating Alaafin. undecided
