I'm only sad that indigenous Nigerian business men have not yet thought of cashing in on Nigeria's retail space and giving Shoprite a run for their money. Perhaps they are still learners!

Beside cocoa house in Dugbe.
Mr Price and film house are also around cocoa house.

But film house should reduce their charges for a movie, N500 on weekends and N1000 in the week. That is too much angry angry

Foodco has been in Ibadan for over 6months or more now. One is at Odua complex around best way and the one around I think eleyele.
Kfc also has also opened its two branches, one at Bodija along Awolowo avenue and the other one around dugbe.

The pic below is the foodco at odua complex, don't mind my poor pic.

You're not from Ibadan, baby girl

Why is Shoprite not building standard malls in Nigeria? I am tired of seeing minimarts praised in Nigeria. If South Africans are ready to do better business in Nigeria they should do it big. I don't like Nigerian malls, most especially, the Shoprites. They all look very ugly.

Because our business men know only oil and cement business. Our businessmen do not get sense, just to steal from govt money, always looking for bail-out.

The building belongs to Odua investment group, shoprite like every other occupant of the two (coco mall and heritage mall) malls are just tenants.

The new mall under construction in ring road will be much better than coco mall, as space is not a problem there. Went past it last week and the work there is well advance.

I have been patronizing Foodco at Bodija since the early 90's.

Yup! Been there for over 15 years now. They've expanded well though I have to say.

django1: The way some peeps were hating on IB yesterday cos of shoprite ehn, you go fear oo.

Some ppl were asking why not PH or why not calabar instead of IB, same thing they said when KFC opened its first branch, "its going to close soon", "people only come to take pictures", now they've opened a better branch at bodija (a drive through).

Goods at shoprite are amazingly cheap, its a huge threat to local marketers, and a blessing to consumers.

IB is going places.

For those of you making derogatory and sarcastic remark about Ibadan. Let us know your own state too.Only Indegeneuos people of Lagos state, i mean indegeneous people not aliens, also people from River state can mock Ibadan. To others, you can't compare your place with Ibadan, talk of size, exposure to western world, development e.t.c.your places are full of forests, mountains, un utilized lands and most of your people have relocated to Lagos State in search of Green pasture. wink grin

This is a welcome development in West-Africa's largest city. Shoprite's items are cheap and well affordable and will check Foodco's monopolistic business.

Foodco is more than 6 months old. I have known Foodco since 1992 and it was latter rebranded and expanded in the recent years.

LOL!!! I went slack-jawed when I read that too! I bought my very first rainbow pencil case from Foodco for N80 in 1992! That's almost 20 years ago. 6 months ko! 2 weeks ni. I miss Foodco doughnut and scotch egg! They were legendary through the nineties when it was still at the corner of Osuntokun and that road that goes up to Bodija Mkt/UI.
