It is quite disheartening that a lot of women vehemently deny being feminists simply because the word 'feminism' has a lot of negative connotations to it (negative connotations that were attached to it by men who hate the idea of women being regarded as equal to them).
Feminism is now considered to be a terrible thing that misguided women engage in and this view is held by a lot of women, even women that have absolutely no idea what feminism means.
They just refuse to identify as feminists because they don't want the stigma attached to the word to rub off on them.
