Sorry about the title..meant to read The Most accomplished Nigerian Ever? Nairaland don't give you the privilege to edit your post subject.

While answering a reporter question yesterday at the Hill Top mansion of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, one of the northern state governors said.

"We've come to meet the most accomplished Nigerian ever to discuss on matter of national importance"

Do you think that OBJ according to this governors is the most accomplished Nigerian ever?

The Governor is clearly being sycophantic. OBJ, for too many reasons than is possible to count, and far from being the most accomplished Nigerian ever, has been one of the biggest impediment to the progress of Nigeria over decades.

Of course fellow politician will praise him because he is known to have kept Nigerian united and , for them, he must be given credit for helping to perpetuate our current lootocracy democracy dispensation that abets the garish opulence and self-aggrandizement they all enjoy uninterrupted. For ordinary Nigerians, OBJ is an unmitigated disaster who has left them betrayed, poorer and more underdeveloped. Exactly like IBB, Abacha et al.

Forbes, an American magazine has named 40 most influential People in Africa. On number one on the list is Nigeria’s 80-year-old literary icon, Chinua Achebe Achebe, who has written several novels, is best known with Things Fall Apart, which won him fame and was translated into over 57 other languages.

https://www.nairaland.com/780470/chinua-achebe-tops-list-40

Depending on how we look at accomplishments , some people's accomplishment ends in their Local Government or in their State but some other people's Accomplishment is celebrated all over the whole world by different races, tribes anc countries .
Chinua Achebe is the most accomplished Nigerian whose Intellectual property has been represented in the major Languages of the world and in the Major countries of the world

Most ppl ordinary wave aside integrity over political gains. Obasonjo is the cause of the woes this country is experiencing today. He remains the biggest calaminity and failure that ever infested this country. As d former head of state, no meaningful accomplishment could be subscribed to him. Unfortunately, even after he left office, he also succeeded in imposing on us ppl not totaly prepared for such an office that demand competence, exposure, and integrity. Only those who feels he's still relevant politically still patronise him and hence eugolise him for political relevance. But all this display of godfatherism and show of relevance are cosmetic, cos the foundation they stand had long crack and will soon give way. When it does, he and his like will not survive it. Only time shall tell.

And how has his literature benefited us. He was part and parcel of d chaos that almost disintegrate Nigerians with his published fairy tales of biafran account. He's more of a disaster than an accomplisher, except for tribal jingoist, brain washed, ethnic bias mind like you who out of frustration would rather swallowed everytin he said hook, line and sinker without verifying fact.

If accomplishment is about looting and plundering a nation's common wealth, then, we can give it to OBJ.But if accomplishment is about striving hard to achieve greatness, then,it is far from any nigerian politician.

Accomplishment is in the eyes of the beholder. What are the criteria?
Wealth, education, politics, leadership, touching humanity positively, business acumen, highest degree, religion, culture etc

And any such ranking should be done age-for-age and opportunity-for-opportunity.

Bigot. What did Wole achieve? A noble prize in literature.
What did Awo achieve? Leading his ethnic group
Those are your yardsticks. What else?

Okay I get it, both are Yorubas like you.

Accomplished in what? Do you have an overall most accomplished American or British or Chinese or African? In sane countries, these things are based on separate criteria.
