Andrewza, rumour going round here that MRS will be deployed here. MRS higher brass were here recently, to "figure out logs", apparently.

Seeing they're such a small unit, with their anti-piracy duties where would they find the people? That said, if true, can only be a good thing. The lakes patrol duty to counter weapons smuggling -currently assigned to the Uruguayans - needs more resources and assets.

Spoke to a mate who was here as part of their brass' protection detail who mentioned their short-term goal is training up to the level of the Pathfinders and building up to a battalion in the mid term.

PICS: MRS in DRC, showcasing the specialist skills these Marines are now acquiring and hope to standardise: missing the FAC and HALO/HAHO badges on the 1 guy who didn't want to be photographed.

I have always wondered why they dont expand the MRS's duties to include base protection/security. You could scale it up and have guys doing their MSDS then qualify for the unit (2 years of base security/protection and then do the fancy stuff when they complete MSDS).

If you are going to have a bunch of guys who specialize in squad tactics and weapons handling, you may as well get them to do security as well.

Nothing much. Keeping my head down, trying to find and annihilate the enemy and make sure guys I send in harm's way come back safe and free from Ebola.

The enemy (ADF) is highly motivated after killing scores of Tanzos at COB Simuliki and has been launching probes at all the other forward operating bases. RSABATT has had 3 ambushes in the last week.

Good luck

There is literally a unit that does that. Protection force. And Mrs all so do base protection when need be.

Nigerian Navy looking at Indian landing ships
Jeremy Binnie, London - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
23 July 2018
The Nigerian Navy is considering ordering two landing ships from India’s Goa Shipyard for USD102 million, the Times of India newspaper reported on 20 July.

“Nigeria floated a global tender and we have emerged as the lowest bidder, but that itself is not sufficient,” the newspaper quoted Goa Shipyard managing director Shekhar Mital as saying. “So we have improved the other parameters such as the build period, [which] has been reduced to two and a half years.”

Gallant Troops of 222 Battalion Neutralise BHTs. Reports just reaching us confirmed that troops of 21 Brigade led by the Brigade Commander on a clearance patrol in support of Operation Rainbow were ambushed by BHT Along Maiduguri Bama Axis at about 11 am 16 Sep 2018. There was serious exchange of gunfire. The gallant troops of 222 battalion were reportedly high on morale as a result of the just concluded assurance visit to the theatre of operation by the COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai and they successfully cleared the ambush and neutralized the terrorists. As a result, 1 x GPMG and 2 X AK 47 and several rounds of ammunition belonging to the terrorist were recovered. As at the time of filing this report, troops were still exploiting the general areas in search of some BHT’s who escaped with gunshot wounds.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE COMMENCES REHEARSALS FOR AERIAL DISPLAY IN ABUJA

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will carry out aerial display as part of activities to mark Nigeria's 58th Anniversary Celebration. Consequently, there will be movement of NAF aircraft within the Federal Capital Territory from now till 2 October 2018 as NAF pilots commence rehearsals for the occasion. Fighter aircraft would be flying at low level during the rehearsals. The NAF therefore wishes to advise members of the public not to panic but to go about their normal businesses.

These can result into the family taking a legal action against the NA authorities.

Baba this has been occurring since the ecomog operations (if not before) without any serious actions being taken. Besides if we look at the background of the average Nigerian soldier, we all will agree that they have nobody to fight for their rights and also the soldiers have no better option than the army.

how did you know he was buried by the NA? Do you have any proof? What if he was missing in action and no one knows where he died? It will cost the Nigerian Army nothing if the family is informed.

That's another critical angle email should see these from. For me I haven't heard of the NA not informing families of KIA soldiers before burying them.

They might do a befitting or ceremonial burial but the families are informed and present.

Terrible front approach angle. Its becomes a problem when you have to do an rapid about turn and there's a drainage ditch running parallel to the road (pretty common). Rule nr.1 for if you don't want to get hit by an RPG, don't get stuck.
I've stopped counting the MRAP designs coming out of SA. We could equip a Bn. just with prototypes. Doesn't make any business sense to get into the products that Milkor is developing lately.

Apparently the company has been taken over by a Turkish dissident organization Erdogan accuses of being involved with the coup. He accused them of taking $ 500 million out of the country. I'd keep a eye on them if I was the SA gov. Something doesn't smell right.

LoL...

I knew the government sycophantic hacks like Iblawi will show up. grin

To find a way to prove my story wrong. Just as you and others foam at the mouth anytime you see any anti buhari post.

But you know me by now, bros i don't give a fuqqq about you "psycophants".

However, i'm concerned about the family of the dead soldier who are wailing everywhere on social media.

An elementary search with his name will reveal all- the family crying that the Nigeria miitary buried him without informing them 1st.

I sincerely hate ALL you government lackeys and sycophantic buharideens.

Thunder will fire you there.

RIP to the dead soldier
