It would be absolutely INSANE to give out free houses. People will migrate from all over the ECOWAS region to occupy the houses. It will lead to massive corruption.

What is possible is to have homes like the Destitute's Home at Okobaba (I posted the picture earlier) for those who can't work and to create skills acquisition centres to ensure that those who can work will have a means to earn a living and thus be able to afford to buy or rent apartments. You then create a mortgage scheme (eg Lagos HOMS) to ensure that the houses are affordable.

Or have flats rented out at minimal monthly cost for occupiers to own in say 20-30 years time.
I believe that is what Mobolaji Johnson did for those relocated to Surulere and what is done in those countries where some of our people are hiding in socio-economic exile doing jobs for which they are over-qualified COMPARED to their oyinbo colleagues on the same job.

That's what the Lagos HOMS is about. The sad thing is that not everybody will be able to afford even that minimal rent, that's why places like the Destitute Homes exist and that's why it's also important to create jobs through skills acquisition centres and micro-finance loans.

If that anonimi guy can ever be sincere in his life he would know that nothing good comes cheap. Even if you give the destitutes cheap accomodation, they will rubbish it, they'll invite more people from their villages and towns and they'll crowd lagos with some more low-lifers and before you know that accomodation will be the new slum.

We need a paradigm shift, it cannot be done by FG alone but surely it isn't the job of LASG to take the initiative in educating the masses.

I will ignore your insult, as usual, about being sincere or not so we can focus on Fashola's gross failure to deliver the BASIC services to the good people of Lagos state.

You can save your big grammar for the gullible folks and area boys who form the bulk of ACN supporters.
The RESPONSIBILITY for primary education and secondary schools is that of the LGA and state governments respectively as per the 1999 constitution. All the Lagos LGAs have been under ACN control.
The UPN governors of the five LOBOO states just 30 years ago provided free education up to secondary school with textbooks also while building state universities.
Mr. Fashola's legacy is not only to abandon his responsibility in this regard but worse still to spoil what he inherited by increasing the LASU tuition fees from 25k to 250k. Meanwhile the conditions in the schools have even become worse with staff (academic & non-academic) being owed for 17 months.

A "progressive" government that owes 17 months salary while the "not-progressive" and "clueless" Jonathan is paying promptly.
What manner of FAKE progressives applauded by CERTIFIED mumus

Young man....education is as costly as building a rocket and the need to subsidise is a prerogative if the government and not a binding law.
Universities expenses vary with states and regions even in the most developed world's so your reasoning isn't fathomable. The price of a school in West London is fat different from one in East London and the standard of living in Lagos is far higher than that in Ebonyi so you'll pay more for most services there. Don't know why people just think all services should come free. They'd rather prefer a government that does nothing and just sits and steals than someone's that's ready to work.
That badia wouldn't be the same way it is again in the next 10 years and posterity and our children would thank us for it.
The cry of the poor has overtaken the need to do the needful and the lawful by 'Internet ' social crusaders and activists who have done nothing to fight corruption at the highest level but only try to hold down the wheels of progress.
Bro. I am only faulting one thing here the use of London as an example. just simply stated so children of thousands of Civil servants in lagos will never attend LASU. If they will, how? with 18000 minimum wage.

naija_swag: They said he is the most admired governor, they all believed.
With a single action, he pulled the rug off his feet to reveal the dirt hidden in the rug.
He is being heckled from all sides. No only his countrymen but the international community have reminded him of what a Holy man said some 2000 years ago that "you will always have the poor among you"
He did it to himself, it was not an anti-party gang up. The spiral effect of his singular action has destroyed some people's political ambition somewhere in the SE. He cannot even venture that zone because he will be deported on arrival, maybe he will never campaign there when he hopes to run for presidency.
He forgot the fundamentals of being a public figure.
The over 90% of poor people in this country now regard him as their enemy because he will not fail to displace them if he has his way in other to build mega cities.
If he becomes president, he will banish everyone who does not have a job, everyone who is poor to the countryside so he could build mega cities.
In Fact he hates national integration.
, to be sincere what are those poor people doing in a city like lagos where standard of living is very high

. We the citizen of Nigeria are the major problem this country is having, we are not sincere and we always do things blindly, when you guys watch foreign movies and see city like paris, london, new york and so on,you all ask why Nigeria can't be beautiful like that, well the answer is we all want good thing but not ready to make the necessary sacrifice,I know you know the truth, you are just one of those selfish politicians that will graduate into another cancer worms. In the nearest future,I'm not a politician neither am I a lagosian and don't even live anywhere close to lagos, but I'm a lover of good things, and what fasola is doing is what we truly need in this country,it will make we the so called poor to sit tight and fight for a better life
