Now, since the height of the tower is given as 2(P + 2) meters
The angle of elevation of the top of a water tower (T) from point A on the ground => 60 degrees, ie Angle "A" = 60 degrees
Distant between point A and the bottom of the tower (B) given |AB|= 12metres.


Since ATC is a right angle triangle and one of the angle is 60 degrees, the other two would be 30 and 90 degrees respectively! ie. the third angle (< T) would be 180 - 90 - 60 = 30 degrees.

Applying sine rule on Triangle ABT with Angle "A" = 60 degrees, Angle "T" = 30 degrees


We have =>

2(P + 2)/Sin 60 = 12/Sin 30

Now Sin 30 = 1/2 and Sin 60 = √3/2

Thus, 2(P + 2)/√3/2 = 12/1/2
inverting both sides yields =>

2(2)(P + 2)/√3 = 12(2)
Cross multiplying

:. 4(P + 2) = 24√3
P + 2 = 24√3/4
P + 2 = 6√3
P = 6√3 - 2
Factoring yields =>

P = 2(3√3 - 1)

Hence, A. 2(3√3 - 1) is the correct answer!
