I think that this reflects a failure in our society to discuss sex...in particular to discuss the ways one can keep himself or herself pure.

Our society has a bashful attitude towards sex. We keep quiet about it, we refer to it as 'dirty' , we say nothing about it.

And when the mess that results from illicit sex happens, we resort to 'naming and shaming'

So, yes, the Pastor is wrong. But so are the parents, and so is the wider society.

I think it is hypocrisy for the ladies in question to stand up. It is the lady who knows why she is still a virgin and responding to such is just hypocritical. Besides, can't the pastor pray for them without asking them to step out. I feel such pastors have a cynical motive to be the ones to disvirgin the gullible ones amongst such s!lly ladies that step out.

I haven't experienced this in any church. The day my Pastor makes such a silly 'alter call' would be my last day in that church.
