Best Books You've Read This Year? by Bravoosii: 9:48pm On Dec 09, 2013 |
A lot of great books have been written this year. As the year draws to an end, I'd like to take a look at some of the best books we've read this year. Some of my best are; Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand: This book is a WWII story of survival, resilience and redemption. It tells a tragic story of allied prisoners of war in Japanese POW camps and death camps. A very compelling, devastating and ultimately redeeming book everyone should read. A Thousand Splendid Suns: This is a story of intense delicacy and strength buried under the surface of the cruel and capricious life imposed upon two Afghani women. Set during the period of ethnic conflict in Afghanistan after the Russian Communist left. It's a story of oppression and brutality, and also the strength and toughness of human spirit. I'm currently reading WAVE By Sonali Deraniyagala a tragic story of a survivor of the Indian ocean tsunami in Sri Lanka. Deraniyagala lost her husband and two young sons to the disaster. Chimamanda Adichie's Americanah, Sidney Sheldon's Sands of Time, Roots by Alex Haley John Green's The Fault in Our Stars are also some very good books I've read this year. The floor is open now, share some of the best books you've read in 2013. 5 Likes |

Thinking, may be back. From the thread title I thought you meant books that were published this year, but your op implies books you read this year irrespective of publication date. |

Ok. You can also drop some very good books you read that were published this year. I was going to make the thread about books published this year alone, but I thought the scope of the thread will be limited and not too many people I've read any books published this year. |

Read Financial Amagardom by John Haggee Mandela by Meredith Jewish Code by Perry Stone Ultimate Come back by TOMMY TENNEY and now reading There was a Country by Chinua Achebe. Reading is one habit i may never leave. It so serious that i can't sleep at night without reading atleast a page or a chapter of a book. i am not much of a TV person except i want to listen to news. I am in love with my library. 8 Likes |

Law of Evidence by Sebastine Tar Hon. Btw. Nice thread, just that law books and case materials haven't afforded me the greatly desired 'social' reading. |
