@ Rhino
Am aware in most cases it is a medical condition, but not in all cases esp when one has cold and u can only breath through your mouth.

When it is not medical condition and it is cos of nastral infection due to cold/flu, that is ok now, cos it will only be for like 4 days and it is over, besides, i will keep her warm and that will make her feel better, cos i have promised to love and cherish her, in sickness and health, besides, NeoCitron do wonders and she will sleep like a baby in my arms

Re: When Your Partner Snores: by davidif: 5:49pm On Aug 07, 2008
i think snoring is a phenomenon that happens when mucus blocks the nose.

when i was a kid, there was this guy that came to our house and they told me the guy snores so loud that it sounds like an aeroplane taking off.
Re: When Your Partner Snores: by Nobody: 7:41pm On Aug 07, 2008
I found snoring disgusting and can't stand it. Funny enough I'd found my guy adorable if he snored!

Re: When Your Partner Snores: by Nobody: 8:48pm On Aug 07, 2008
Noise, light, all of that do not disturb my sleep. I've slept through a robbery attack before. Not that I'm a heavy sleeper anyway.

Re: When Your Partner Snores: by Kilkenny: 12:01am On Aug 08, 2008
I do understand the plight of those whose partners/spouses snore, but think about how guilty the snorer must feel too, particularly when their spouse accuses them unsympathetically that it's their fault he/she didn't have a restful sleep overnight!

Let me just clarify things here, people who snore do not do it deliberately,it is not something they can control & as such it is NOT a "bad habit",so get that clear first & foremost. In fact,in very severe cases called O.S.A.S.(obstructive sleep apnea syndrome) which is when they have periods where they stop breathing for a few seconds to a minute during sleep, they actually need to be referred to a sleep disorders unit for a special mask to help with their breathing.

However,in mild-moderate cases there are things the snorer can do to improve things:
- Weight loss
- Cutting down on cigarette smoking
- Cutting down on alcohol,& in fact no alcohol in the evenings before bedtime
- sleeping on the side rather than on the back/sleep reclined at an angle;both of these open up the airways
- sometimes some nasal decongestant sprays can help (after seeing an ENT doctor to see if there is a problem with the nose & sinuses)

What happens at night when one sleeps, is that the muscles in the back of your throat & nasal passageways become sort of lax & tend to "collapse" inwards, the tongue also falls backwards, now in big people who have excess fat in their tissues, this normal process is compounded by the fatty tissue also contributing it's own "blocking" effect to the free flow of air when you breathe in & out, hence the recommended advice to lose weight.

Usually we would advice people to try the above measures for at least 6 months & see if things improve before then considering referral to an ENT doctor(they can perform some surgical procedures to widen the airways) or a sleep specialist for assessemnt for O.S.A.S.

I hope this helps! As a brother to someone who used to snore heavily while growing up,all i can implore you to do is spare a thought for the snorers amongst us.When my brother & i used to share the same room as teenagers,i got ear plugs cos i realised i couldn't kick him out of the room & there was nowhere else to go to sleep, well, except for that uncomfortable couch in the sitting room!!
Re: When Your Partner Snores: by DeepZone: 4:25am On Aug 08, 2008
Use ear plugs.
Re: When Your Partner Snores: by spben(m): 7:06am On Aug 08, 2008
It's not an abnormal or desease , it would be better if the person admit it , then seek for proper counseling because i have seen a case were it seperate a couple , i have strong beleive that it can be treated ,

Hello esilove
i like your principle , i suggested you apply the principle on your partner if she does , it will librate both of you from snoring

Re: When Your Partner Snores: by quadrillio(m): 12:17pm On Aug 08, 2008
To be frank and straight, I snore but it depends on one thing which is the way I sleep

If I sleep with me facing up straight, surely I will snore

but If I carefully sleep with on side. I will never snore so I believe my case is still better

but on thing is sure, nobody likes snoring n those that does it are not doing it intentionally.

Thank God my Girl understands and anytime am snoring she just gentle wakes me up and tells me to sleep well

finally there are different types of snoring

1, The nose noise (very easy)

2, The mouth breather (my status)

3, The noise maker (alcohol and fatness)

know the type ur type  visit http://www.putanendtosnoring.com/questionaire/questionaire.cfm

Take the following tips, it helps cos it has worked for me.

The following tips will hopefully give you relief with your snoring problems. It's important to remember that different remedies will have varying success depending on the individual.

Elevate your head by sleeping on a thicker pillow or multiple pillows will help reduce your snoring.

Don't drink alcoholic beverages, take sleeping pills, tranquilizers, or antihistamines right before going to sleep, they will cause your muscles to relax and limit your air passage way.

Avoid dairy products, which can cause mucus build-up right before you go to sleep.

If you are overweight, losing some weight will reduce snoring by increasing the space in your air passage way.

Sleeping on your side instead of your back will help to prevent snoring.

A common remedy to prevent sleeping on your back is to sew a tennis ball to the back of your shirt; the discomfort of sleeping on the ball will prevent you from staying on your back.

Try following a regular sleep routine.

Try taking in a little bit of honey before sleeping.

Don't eat a big meal right before bed, if your stomach is full it will push up on your diaphragm and limit breathing passage ways.

Avoid eating "rich" foods such as cakes, cookies, chocolate and pizza.

Sleep on a firmer pillow, a pillow that's too soft encourages your throat muscles to relax and narrows your air passageway.

Inhale steam before sleeping or sleep in a room with a humidifier turned on, which will reduce congestion and moisturize the throat.

Purchase some nasal strips and put them on before going to sleep. Nasal strips will open up your nostrils and allow more air to come in, thus reduce snoring.

If you are a smoker, stop smoking, if that is not feasible then avoid smoking right before you go to bed. Smoking causes inflammation and swelling of the throat.

Take anti-snoring pills or use anti-snoring nasal spray.

Consult a medical profesional if your snoring continues to adversely affect your sleep.

Roll over to his side?? You've got to be kidding me!

I kick him! or put a pillow over his head until he wakes up.

I am not a happy person when i wake up especially when its abrupt.

Seriously, there are all kinds of products that cld stop that and i could sleep through anything.
