I totally agree with you

I take feminism how I see Christianity...

Believe in Lord Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and let Him direct you cheesy No time for earring is a sin, weaves is wrong, not call your hubby name, don't wear green pant etc. (though God told me to stop wearing trousers)

Like i said on an earlier thread, it is more of mental; not as a competition with men but self belief

True, a lot of Naija women can't handle it

damiso:

Hi bukatyne

I agree that treating kids equally helps because as I said it was not until later university I think that I perceived this women are oppressed thing.

I actually dont think all African women suddenly embracing feminism is the solution to the problem as the movement (whether we call them fringe or not ) have had the radical ones being a the more vocal parties especially in the west.Even Alice walker coined another term "womanism" just to distance themselves from the rhetoric of the more radical elements. They jist whine and moan about silly things now like I have the right to be naked or why is beyonce calling herself Mrs Carter cos she sang independent women ages ago cheesy

I know its not a popular opinion but women themselves in a way have actually perpuatated this subjugation by being their own worst enemies.Alot of Naija women (not all) really really do not mind the patriarchal construct.I have had so many women say they prefer a male lecturer or boss to a female one even when its obvious that the male one might not necessarily be the better more qualified candidate.I had a female boss that alot of people hated.Gosh people hated v soo much "see her carry work ontop head' " dont go and marry' " no wonder she is not married' and most of these were by women.I wont lie I thought she was overly harsh when I worked with her from afar but when i was seconded to head office and worked more closely with her I just realised she was a stickler for excellent work ethic no time for excuses. But those girls prefered the male managers who they would just be laughing with, taking extended lunches while they flicked their weaves and laughed sheepishly because they knew those feminine wiles wont work on V. Some naija women actually like the idea of them using their feminity to get what they want so I think we are on a long thing if we think embracing feminism will solve the problem.Take a typical naija gal (me included back in the day grin) and ask to go dutch shocked automatic loser na dat guy be.

queen victoria(the greatest female ruler in the history of mankind) must have been very insecure when she made this quote.....

"I love peace and quiet, I hate politics and turmoil. We women are not made for governing, and if we are good women, we must dislike these masculine occupations. There are times which force one to take interest in them, and I do, of course intensely

I am most anxious to enlist everyone who can speak or write to join in checking this mad, wicked folly of 'Women's Rights', with all its attendant horrors, on which her poor feeble sex is bent, forgetting every sense of womanly feelings and propriety.

Feminists ought to get a good whipping. Were woman to 'unsex' themselves by claiming equality with men, they would become the most hateful, heathen and disgusting of beings and would surely perish without male protection."

Aww this overused quote!

The definition of a hypocrite. She too should've been whipped just by going off her own speech LOL

overused quote? see her mouth like overuse. where have you ever seen the quote before to brand it overuse? her throne was thrusted upon her - she didn't campaign to be elected so she didn't go off her own speech.

however, she described you as hateful, heathen and a disgusting human being: the $64,000 question is - why are you so hateful?

Yes, I've come across that quote many times, and it's the height of hypocrisy.

LOL@thrust upon her. Yet she sat prime minister for almost 15 years, serving no less than 3 terms. To put the icing on the cake, she was also the leader of the Conservative party. And that whole time she never thought to relieve herself of these taxing manly positions. Poor thing!

Again with the HATE? This is just too much grin grin You should probably visit her resting place, and ask her that along with why she was such a gosh darn hypocrite.

which queen victoria are you talking about? it must be the one in your village. i don't remember her ever serving as a prime minister for 3 terms. she was the queen, not a prime minister.

why do i need to go to her resting place to find the answer about what makes you a heathen, hateful & a disgusting being? surely, you can answer that yourself, no?

Lmao my bad, that was someone else who's been lurking in my podcasts lately smh: couldn't guess who, eh? In my "village" indeed.

Once again, I fail to see the "hate" and "foreigner superiority" you're talking about.

You completely missed the point. Never was I talking about tech trends. I used the donkey kart as an example on how far we've gone with feminism in reference to your Veyron analogy. It's not that hard to understand. The development of the foreign Veyron can be applied to the foreign West because it (feminism) took off in the West. It can't be applied to Africa where it has not.

@ reluctant on what I wanted to spill: You're very presumptuous. I'd appreciate if you wouldn't tell me what I think.

I can't remember what else you wrote. You wrote within my quote, so I couldn't quote you.

Have a good day anyway smiley

Feminism Is a Hate Group
When some of the most prominent feminists and famous women make openly hateful anti-male statements, and the mainstream feminist organizations say and do nothing to distance themselves from such public statements, then it’s clear that the hatred of men has an accepted place in mainstream feminism.

Does this seem like a harsh assessment of feminism? Perhaps.

Is it true? Absolutely.

One of the main problems with “feminism” is that it exploits the legitimate claims of equal rights as a cloak to usher in its divisive, hateful and neurotic interests. Interests that are plainly anti-male and not at all about equal rights.

For example, here are some quotes from famous feminists.

“I feel that ‘man-hating’ is an honourable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them.” – Robin Morgan, Ms. Magazine Editor
“To call a man an animal is to flatter him; he’s a machine, a walking Love Machine.” -– Valerie Solanas
“I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig.” — Andrea Dworkin
“Rape is nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear” — Susan Brownmiller
“The more famous and powerful I get the more power I have to hurt men.” — Sharon Stone
“In a patriarchal society, all heterosexual intercourse is rape because women, as a group, are not strong enough to give meaningful consent.” — Catherine MacKinnon
“The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.” — Sally Miller Gearhart
“Men who are unjustly accused of rape can sometimes gain from the experience.” – Catherine Comins
“All men are rapists and that’s all they are” — Marilyn French
“Probably the only place where a man can feel really secure is in a maximum security prison, except for the imminent threat of release.” — Germaine Greer.
The quotations above are from Kelly Mac’s blog. Kelly is ‘a woman against feminism’ because of its anti-male agenda. You can read more of Kelly Mac’s blog at http://awomanagainstfeminism..com/

Kelly sums it up nicely:

“If you’re going to say feminism is not a man-hating movement, I’m going to have to insist that you provide links either to sites showing feminists condemning the statements listed above, or feminists telling women to respect men as men.”

UPDATE:

It is amazing how so many people continue to turn a blind-eye to the harm that feminism is doing – typically excusing it with something along the lines of “but… Not all feminists are like that!”. Perhaps it’s a state of denial – such as when discovering what you had hoped was true is in fact a lie. Here is some relevant YouTube commentary that further discusses the above.

BABE3:

You know a system/movement/doctrine is becoming a joke when it starts to get too many branches.

-feminists that hate abortion
-feminists that agree that men should be the head in homes
-feminists that are against the "free the nïpple" movement.
-feminists that constantly cook for their husbands because they have to.

I never said I wasn't a Christian. I just implied that you shouldn't assume everyone cares about God.

Agree to disagree.

Feminist quotes
Why am I so down on feminism? Why do we call them "feminazis"? Let's look at the following quotes:

"The male is a domestic animal which, if treated with firmness...can be trained to do most things." -- Jilly Cooper, SCUM (Society For Cutting Up Men, started by Valerie Solanas)

"If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction of the population of males." --Mary Daly, former Professor at Boston College, 2001.

"All men are rapists and that's all they are" -- Marilyn French, Authoress; (later, advisoress to Al Gore's Presidential Campaign.)

"The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race." -- Sally Miller Gearhart, in The Future - If There Is One - Is Female.

"I feel that 'man-hating' is an honorable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them." -- Robin Morgan, Ms. Magazine Editor.

"Colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated."
Margaret Sanger

“Feminism, Socialism, and Communism are one in the same, and Socialist/Communist government is the goal of feminism.” - Catharine A. MacKinnon

"To call a man an animal is to flatter him; he's a machine, a walking Love Machine." -- Valerie Solanas, Authoress of the SCUM Manifesto (SCUM stands for Society for Cutting Up Men)

"Life in this society being, at best, an utter bore and no aspect of society being at all relevant to women, there remains to civic-minded, responsible, thrill-seeking females only to overthrow the government, eliminate the money system, institute complete automation, and destroy the male sex." -- Valerie Solanas
