Unknown gunmen suspected to be from Gyel community in Jos south local government area of Plateau state at the weekend opened fire at a group of Muslim worshipers in Bukuru, injuring three.

Daily Trust gathered from residents of Bukuru community that the incident occurred around 8:00pm during Tarawi prayers, after breaking of the fast.

Isa Abubakar, a youth from the community, said this was the fifth time such an attack was taking place in the area adding that "the gun men came from Gyel and the fired sporadically at a mosque, no one was killed but three people sustained injuries."

The Secretary, Bukuru Elders Committee, Bala Baba Mohammed who also confirmed the incident said "sometime ago, a rocket launcher was shot at us from Gyel, then grenades were also thrown at us, there have also been persistent shootings from the community and we don't know why they are attacking us. We the Bukuru Elders Council are calling on the Federal, State and Local government to intervene. We are also using this opportunity to call on the community leaders in Gyel to come forward for dialogue so that we know why they keep attacking us."

Our correspondent gathered that two of the victims of the attack, Lawal Muhammad and Bashir Iliyasu are presently receiving treatment at the Airforce hospital in Jos while the third victim has been discharged.

The Special Task Force (STF), Media and Information Officer, Captain Ikedichi Iweha who confirmed the attack on phone said the situation was brought under control by the task force.

what difference does it make if they're fellow muslims? muslim or christian it doesn't matter as long as it instils fear in the mind of the citizens,it works for them. brainwashed fellows.
