This election will surely be intriguing. As it's known there are always two sides to a coin, and a well known Igbo musician sang: Oso ndi, Owe ndi. I.e It pleases some, and displeases others.
So, many people are just waiting for Saturday to cast their votes and determine who will rule them for the next 4 years, The people are really enthusiastic and just can't wait to troop out en masse and vote for their candidate.

Do you know that female voters will most likely decide the outcome of the elections on Saturday?
If you doubt it, just check this report out.
Re: Osun 2014 Guber Polls: Live Reports by ShehuAba(m): 1:36pm On Aug 07, 2014
Women voters are to determine the
outcome of the Osun State governorship
election slated for August 9.
This is because the number of registered
female voters in the state is higher than
that of the male, according to a
document obtained by our
correspondent from the Independent
National Electoral Commission in Abuja
on Monday.
The document shows that there are
1,407,222 valid registered voters in the
state out of which female constitute 53
per cent.
This indicates that there are 754,828
female voters in the state while the
number of male registered voters is
661,394, which represents 47 per cent of
the total number of voters.
While the commission put the number of
wards in the state at 332, it also states
that there are 3,010 polling units, adding
that there are 3,379 voting points for the
election.
It was also stated in the document that
Osogbo Local Government Area had the
highest number of voters out of the 30
local government areas in the state.
While Osogbo Local Government Area
leads with 110,000 voters, Ife East is
second with 81,430 and follow by
Olorunda with 71,580 voters.
Iwo Local Government Area is fourth
with 66,657 voters while Ifelodun Local
Government Area, comes fifth with
57,591 voters.
The three local government areas with
the least number of voters are Ifedayo,
which has 13,066 voters; Boluwaduro,
16,844 voters; and Orolu with 24,914
voters.
Twenty political parties are fielding
candidates for the election.
Some of the parties are Accord Party,
Alliance for Democracy, All Progressive
Grand Alliance, All Progressives
Congress, Peoples Democratic Party,
Labour Party, Unity Party of Nigeria and
Social Democratic Party.
Out of these 20 political parties, it is
generally believed that the fight would
be between the candidates of the APC,
who is also the incumbent governor of
the state, Mr. Raul Aregbesola, and the
candidate of the PDP, Senator Iyiola
Omisore.
In order to have a hitch-free election,
the document indicated that the electoral
body had positioned eight management
members of staff for the election.
Also on ground for the election are 30
electoral officers, 30 assistant electoral
officers (administrative), 30 assistant
electoral officers (operations) and
another 30 assistant electoral officers
(RAC).
There are 19 local and 10 foreign
observers accredited to monitor the
election.
Among the local observing groups are
Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, led
by Clement Nwakwo; Women Arise for
Change Initiate which has Dr. Joe Okei-
Odumakin as leader; and Justice
Development Peace Commission led by
Rev. Fr. Everest Bassey.
Also listed as monitors are Rights
Monitoring Group (Olufemi Aduwo);
Reclaim Naija(Ngozi Iwere); and Election
Monitor(Abiodun Ajijola).
Some of the foreign monitors are
European Union Delegation, High
Commission of Canada, British High
Commission, Embassy of France,
Embassy of Federal Republic of
Germany, and the United States Mission
to Nigeria.
“INEC has dedicated hotlines at its
Situation Room in Abuja through which
complaints can be lodged or incidents
reported from any Polling Unit
throughout Osun State for swift
intervention as may be appropriate,” the
document added.
The telephone lines are 07098115257,
08101774434, 07098117563,
07032492303, 07098110916, 0709811638.
The commission, however, added that
complaints to these lines should be
through SMS

There have been accusations and counter accusations among the two leading political parties as they are putting finishing touches to their campaigns today.
The campaign has been massive all the way, With the major candidates I.e The incumbent governor Rauf Aregbesola of the APC, Dr Iyiola Omisore of the PDP, and Fatai Akinbade of the labor party telling the citizens why he should be voted for and not the other way round.

https://m.premiumtimesng.com/news/166197-osun-election-inec-is-fully-prepared-jega.html

In every polling unit, there will be a cubicle
where voters can vote secretly. The constitution
says the secrecy of the ballot paper must be
protected,” he said.
The National Chairman, Independent National
Electoral Commission, INEC, on Wednesday said
all was set for the Osun gubernatorial election
slated for Saturday.
Mr. Jega announced this at a stakeholders’ forum
organised by the commission in Osogbo.
“We have prepared adequately and meticulously
to ensure that the election is free, fair and
credible.
“We have paid a lot of attention to the training of
our staff and ad hoc staff to use and we will
protect members of the National Youth Service
Corps we normally use.
“We have put measures in place to protect lives
and property and to ensure that voters exercise
their franchise in a peaceful environment,’’ he
said.
The INEC chairman said the commission would
ensure that ballot papers for the election had
been serially printed to ensure they were not in
another state.
According to him, INEC has also customised
result sheets at every polling unit so that no
politician can use them to produce unauthorised
results.
Other initiatives of the commission included the
colour coding of ballot papers from one council to
another so that it would not be transferable in
the council areas.
He noted that sensitive materials, including ballot
papers were ready for distribution to local
governments’ councils with colour coding.
“In every polling unit, there will be a cubicle
where voters can vote secretly. The constitution
says the secrecy of the ballot paper must be
protected,” he said.
Jega re-assured stakeholders of the
commission’s commitment to free, fair and
credible election not only in Osun but in the 2015
general elections.
He said people, including traditional rulers, should
promote peaceful conduct and refrain from
violence as security agents were fully prepared to
deal with miscreants.
According to him, accreditation will begin from 8
a.m. to noon, while voting will commence at
12:30 a.m.
“Accredited voters are to join the queue and the
voting exercise will not end until the last voter on
queue is attended to, voting will then take place
simultaneously to prevent multiple voting.’’
Mr. Jega, who advised the electorate not to do
anything that would make them fall victim of
electoral offences, vowed that the commission
would be just, neutral, not partisan, and impartial.
“Our hope is to make sure that Osun election is
the best poll so far conducted and everyone
should come out to perform their civic duty
peacefully,’’ he added.
Suleiman Abba, the Acting Inspector-General of
Police, said that security agencies were concerned
with the security of voters, INEC staff and election
materials.
Abba said the police would protect the integrity of
the election and ensure that the election met the
requirement of democratic principles and
international best practices.
He, however, warned sponsors of thugs to beware
because law enforcement officers were not only
on land but in the air that day.
Mr. Abba, however, assured law abiding citizens
of police protection, saying every voter should feel
free and secured to cast their votes on Saturday.

AdeniyiA: will interstates buses be allowed to ply the major roads tomorrow, Friday?

For tomorrow I think there will be free movement. Restrictions will usually start on Saturday 12:00am.
But despite that, expect heavy security presence/ check up on the roads tomorrow.

The Intriguing Politics of Ede:

On Saturday, Ede is going to be one of the towns which we are to expect a very tricky and intriguing results.
This is largely due to the fact that the PDP candidate's deputy is from this town and also very influential. more so, Senator Isiaka Adeleke who's an APC stalwart and really has massive supporters is also from here.
Actually, Ede used to be a pre dominant PDP town largely due to the influence of the Asiwaju Adeleke who's respected in the town and held in high esteem due to his political prowess and influence he has.
He was the first executive governor of osun state and he really did much for the people, such that he has endeared the people to him. The love for Adeleke can be likened to that of saraki in Ilorin politics. His departure to APC after a painful exit from the PDP will really enable many people from the town vote for his party.
Adejare Bello on the other hand who incidentally is the Oluomo of Ede and PDP's deputy guber candidate can also not be under estimated. Though a political son of Adeleke and also a beneficiary of his philanthropy. He's coming at the heels of some Ede indigenes who will vote out of sympathy for the fact that one of their sons will soon emerge as the deputy Governor of the state.
From a personal perspective, APC will conveniently win in Ede no matter how small it is. In percentage I give APC 70, to PDP's 30 percent.

Reporting from Oshogbo. Covering Dada Estate, Omobolanle and Ayo-olorun Estate.

No polling point at Omobolanle, but we have like 3 or more in Dada est. This means residence of Ayo-Olorun est., 'Omobolanle and Dele yes sir' would have to move to Dada est.to cast their votes. This I doubt, because no one would like to treck as far as Dada est. Just to vote since there'll be no vehicular movement till the evening of that day.

One polling point is just beside Gazal hotel, behind Nike gallery. The other one is at the front of one palace-like house like that, almost facing Gazal.

Security personal everywhere here in Osogbo. Entering the capital from Iwo, there are like two to three checkpoints. There are checkpoints for those also coming from Ilobu. I passed through not less than six checkpoints while entering Osogbo from Ogun state yesterday, passed through Abere down to Ola-Iya.

Also passed through government house(Bola Ige's house) in the morning. Security there was tight. Saw this red painted military tank as well. Enough masked DSS all around, with guns I saw last in video games(Halo, SOF, COD...).

Everywhere is calm in short, with those sharing whatever they like to buy voters card.
