NeuroBoss: where are the 75000 troops sent to the harmless state of Osun? I'm sure BH could not have overpowered such a large number of men even with their crude weapons as long as they aim their targets and follow simple military procedures.

[b]it is clear the Nigerian army lack the technical ability to bring down boko haram. It's not by numbers and definitely sabotage can not be a reason. If you say sabotage, how many people in the army can really be saboteurs? The army is like a family, especially you are of the rank of officer, no officer will want to see men under him die just like that. Normal army men can't be saboteurs because they don't know much of the happenings. Certainly, a hand full of saboteurs is not enough to make the Nigerian army look like amatures.

The major thing here is the army is filled with men who lack the technical knowledge of warfare. The man-know-man recruitment is now hunting us. This is a result of people who do not have passion for the job, but driven by money and status being there.

I watched a document on how the US infiltrated taliban in afganistan, just 8 CIA agents and millions of dollars. It was only later after they have entered the organisation that they brought 500 boots on ground.

Taliban was under their control without a single shot being fired.

Our Soldiers have the upper hand, ancient weapons or not. They have the logistics, official backing of the government, training and outnumber Boko Haram. They have Air superiority, infantry and weapons. Boko Haram have sophisticated arms, e no pass 50 Calibre and 30 Calibre GPMG's which the Nigerian Army has in excess. Boko Haram still dont have Helicopter Gunships nor do they have Cannons, Mortars, Armoured Tanks, e.t.c..

The truth is that it is either our Infantry are poorly trained or the Army strategists are fucktards or the Army in general are poorly motivated.

If Mere taking over a small town results to the loss of such large number of soldiers. Then going to sambisa forest would be a suicide. Just imagine the number of Boko Haram Army that would counter the attacks of soldiers in Sambisa, knowing fully well that they are familiar with the terrain. Our Soldiers needs to be well equipped and Air Strike should be our main means of Getting this boko boys on their knees. God help the Nigerian Army. Rest In Peace to the deceased.

Actually, the problem is lack of decisiveness from above and the need to please the UN and amnesty international. The nigerian army is trying to fight this guerilla warfare while being as humane as possible. They are trying to abide by war codes and limit civillian casualties. In the past, and under the supervision of the ABLE Baba Iyabo, they would have razed sambisa forest to the ground. Even insects would not have been spared. It would only take one day. Our problem is the USA and UN dictating how we should fight our war. If Jonathan takes d bull by d horn, we can finish this nonsense in one week

People keep shouting
Airpower Airpower Airpower

May I ask you guys

Why do BH move around with vehicle mounted Anti-aircraft guns

Fact is

BH are forcing us to fight them on their terrain and combat style

BH AA vehicle mounted guns can operate best in Open terrain

So counter BH by using longer range AAs and avoid fighting BH on open fields in order to minimize BH strength

LANRYUS: But I think defence has N960billion budget this year, average of N3billion a day and they still can't get better arms to combat BH. So sad indeed!

Huge % of this 960 billion goes to salaries and trainings for the NN, NA & NAF. Also check the maintenance of our war machines and you'll see that 960 billion is quite small for our country considering the size of our economy.

Algeria had a $10 billion defence budget. They have a modern, well trained and motivated military. But it took them more than 10 years to get to this level and at a cost of over 200000 Algerian lives before AQIM terrorists were defeated.

Our military are being equipped and gaining experience. The military will learn from their mistakes and correct them. I may not know when this war will end but 0NE thing am sure of is that Nigeria will win this war.

God bless Nigeria

Nigerians here on this site and thread now must realise that the very reason they are able to sit down in the comfort of their homes and condemm the nigerian army is because our soldiers and putting down their lives for our sake. They are defending your freedom with their blood and lives . So if u have no prayer or words of encouragement for them just shut up and think about what you have ever done for nigeria

backtosender: ABUJA. — Heavy fighting between troops of the Nigerian Military and heavily armed terrorists of the Boko Haram sect fighting to retain control of Gwoza town in Borno State, was on-going last night with Airforce attack helicopters providing air cover as the insurgents remained recalcitrant in the battle.
Soldiers in Yola, Adamawa State: Operational Commander, Brig-Gen. Fatai Alli addressing soldiers on arrival in Yola for the State of Emergency Operation yesterday. Photo: NAN.
File Photo: Soldiers in Yola, Adamawa State.
In fact, a top military source, who spoke to Vanguard last night, said the insurgents’ fire-power in being able to withstand the fire-power
of the military forces was a source of concern to the military command in the epicentre of the war on terror.

There were reports of casualties from both the military and the terrorists while the sheer number of the insurgents and the fact that
they were heavily armed prompted the ground troops to request for reinforcements from the air force to provide air bombardments.
Units of the 213 battalion Task Force and 234 Special Operations battalion both based in Mubi which attempted to retake Gwoza Township from Islamist militant Boko Haram were said to have retreated and sent signals for air support as a result of unrelenting gun fire from the insurgents.
While a source said using the word defeat of Nigerian soldiers fighting to retake Gwoza town from the grip of Boko Haram insurgents
was childish, he noted that the commanders on ground were only making strategies for more effective offensive.
Reports from the battle-field had indicated that following three days of fighting over 100 civilians and several soldiers were killed
Vanguard gathered that some officers (names withheld) who led the attempt to recapture Gwoza and other towns from the terrorists were feared either dead or captured by the insurgents and their whereabouts was a source of concern to the military authorities.
Vanguard was told that due to the worrisome terrain of the battle area, the terrorists were able to ambush some of the soldiers and
demobilise some of their equipment.
There were conflicting figures on the casualty figures on the part of soldiers killed, but it was not possible to get confirmation.
Recall that the Nigerian military at the weekend recaptured Damboa town after Boko Haram overran the town and planted its flag.
As at the time of sending this report, Vanguard was expecting the Director of Defence Information, Maj General Chris Olukolade to reply a text questionnaire on the situation of the fighting in Gwoza.

Today na Today, let wait to see who wins the day! I can't understand why the military haven't recapture the town from this BH owing to the fact that they know exactly what lies ahead, they should just level the whole town and rebuild it later!

Stop feeding Nigerians with information's that are baseless and lies. Less than 10,000, security operatives were deployed to Osun state for the election and this figures comprises of Army, Police and the Civil Defense. As at 2011, the total number of Nigeria Army was 150,000. Today, many are dead to the course of fighting insurgence and many also, have resign from the army. this soldiers fight day and night while we sleep comfortably on our bed only to wake and jump on a media devices to say all can of rubbish. the NIGERIA ARMY are asking for fresh recruit.

Do we think this fight is for Jonathan and the security operatives only. the insurgent we come after you and I, once the army can't no longer withstand them. the $1 Billion, the presidency is asking for is just not enough to persecute this operation. what about rehabilitating the insurgents who decide to hand over their weapon and surrender. This Soldiers dieing everyday can as well decide to walk out on us. Lets STOP all this political propaganda and fight for the soul of Nigeria.
