He would be the first COAS that died or left office and his junior officers missed so much. The few I seen among them were in tears.

Maybe, just maybe he was a good officer who wanted the best for his Men
You are right. I read somewhere that his main focus was to restore the lost dignity of the army. Eliminate distractions which the army was subjected to like doing minor policing work that police and civil defense men should handle. He wanted his men to maintain true and pure military discipline and professionalism. Sadly he didn’t live long to achieve that.

Max 5mins. I eat fast because the longer time I spend on the food the faster I get tired of it . Whenever I eat slowly it means I don’t like the food or it’s too hot.

Anyone living along the Benue river should better evacuate quickly. There was a ‘no cause for alarm’ feedback on an assessment of the Alo dam in Borno just 4 days before the devastating floods of last week.

Goruba. I still eat it. It’s used to make local tea here in the northeast. Not sure if true or not but people here claim it lowers blood pressure. I take it as a snack though. The hard nut inside is called kwakwan biri grin
It’s like coconut but Very hard to crack. But we used to chew it back then anyhow.

Science/TechnologyRe: The Snake I Killed In My Room Around 2AM by 18wheeler: 11:50am On Jun 11, 2024
It’s actually snake season, at least we know that in my location. Last week Thursday, after the kids went to bed my wife decided to tidy up the kids’ room. She picked an inner vest and met this snake creeping under looking for a hideout. We killed it instantly and evacuated everyone immediately. It was scary. Happened at about 11:20pm. Imagine what would have happened if it crept up the bed or someone wanted to use the toilet and stepped on it.

Why do I feel like Rivers state is at the center of this? But overall, it’s the only thing that will ensure government at the third tier is given its rightful status. But then it’s reduction of the enormous powers that the state governors currently wield.

It’s a bank very well. It’s licensed as a Micro Finance Bank, and not a commercial bank. Micro Finance Banks offer almost every banking service that commercial banks do, they issue cards, internet and mobile banking, receive deposits from their clients and so on. But let’s say you want to raise a letter of credit to make payment for an import, Opay cannot issue you that unless they pass through a commercial bank. Another one is something like a bank Guarantee. An Opay or similar bank cannot issue that to its customers independent of the commercial bank it maintains account with. But they offer transactional services like any other. The major difference between them and the traditional MFBs we know is that they are majorly digital while the trad ones are mainly brick & mortar like we have in the rural areas.

That means OPAY, PALMPAY and co don't have DMB license then?
MFBs are not really classified as DMBs. They are usually supposed to maintain accounts with DMBs who serve as link between them and CBN. That is why an OPay and the others cannot go to CBN and ask to withdraw cash to pay their customers. They must do that via the DMB they maintain account with if at all the neeed arises. I think their customers really need to understand the conditions of their operations and the terms of their licenses to understand better.

Yankee101:
Is no one going to stop all these frivolous bank charges?

If you can’t secure your network just get out of the banking business
It’s not the banks that will earn this charge. It’s the government through the ONSA. The banks will only collect and remit, just like they collect WHT, VAT and the electronic levy and remit to the FIRS or CBN as applicable.
0.5% is really outrageous though.
BusinessRe: FCCPC Vows To Clamp Down On Loan Apps Harassing Customers by 18wheeler: 8:06pm On May 05, 2024
There are legitimate means of recovering borrowed funds from customers. That’s what conventional banks use. There are thousands of loan defaulters in banks but you never hear of such harassment. There’s also the GSI where banks can invoke to sweep funds from any defaulters accounts to offset his overdue liabilities in their books.
These sharks or whatever they are called will never utilize them because one, their lending activities are illegal/unregulated and two if you check out the applicable interest rates on the loans and the loan tenors you discover they are outrageously above rates set by the CBN. Their activities are simply criminal. That’s why it’s only harassment they use to recoup funds. If not for the bad reputation and embarrassment they create for people, if you damn them they can’t to anything to you more than threats.
PoliticsRe: NNPC, Marketers In War Of Words Over Fuel Scarcity by 18wheeler: 4:46am On May 05, 2024
Faiththatworks:
I was at the Dangote Refinery this week, about 1000 tankers waiting to load petroleum products,I don't believe all those tankers were there to load Diesel or Aviation Fuel. The same can be said of Apapa, tankers are lined up for close to 5km waiting to load
Something is going on and the Government needs to set up an intervention team,I asked an insider when we will get fuel in Lagos, his answer was doubled edged, the owners of petrol stations are diverting fuel to areas where they can sell for higher prices

This fuel problem I am sure will not go anytime soon because this is economic sabotage by some greedy individuals
Thank you. I got a similar response to this when I confronted the guy that supplies diesel to my office. I usually also buy petrol from him. What he told me is that many times when they (independent marketers) make payment for products, they have to pay their way through every stage of clearance and loading of their trucks else, they could stay for as long as 30 days before loading so either way, it’s additional cost either in bribe or living expense while waiting. As a result, they devise all sorts of means to get products as quickly and at the lowest possible additional cost. One such way is to wait for the major marketers who usually get loaded faster to load and then divert some part of their allocation to the independent marketers and sell to them at some margin. Here the independent marketers do not even need to go down to the depot they just wait in their towns and receive the goods after negotiations and settlements. That is why you see many major retail outlets hardly have much fuel to sell while the independent marketers outlets always have but at significantly higher prices. There’s a lot going on in the oil industry and if nothing drastic is done we can never escape from this cycle of scarcity and persistent price fluctuations. Greed and corruption are the main factors behind this trend. It’s sad and depressing.
PoliticsRe: How Much Are You Buying A Litre Of Petrol In Your Area? by 18wheeler: 8:08am On May 04, 2024
1,100/ltr in maiduguri. Matrix oil sold @ 730/ltr within the week but the queue was crazy. A few NNPC stations too sold @ about 680/ltr but you would be ready to fight to get. Road side hawkers, 1,200/ltr with peace of mind.
