EducationRe: Do Foreigners Come To Nigeria Universities To Study Like Nigerian Do? by 18wheeler: 10:39pm On Sep 27, 2023
They used to. But hardly anymore. Even we that are here are losing the true value of education not to talk of outsiders. We are the ones going out to get good education and at huge cost to us. When we are ready to do the right thing then we can attract outsiders. What’s the gain of leaving India or Malaysia to come get a degree in a federal university in Nigeria with our degraded infrastructure and outdated curriculum? Common. Intelligence goes where it’s valued and rewarded. I don’t see that here. Generally.

AgricultureRe: Harvest Now To Prevent Farmers-herders Clash: Bauchi Police Issues Advisory by 18wheeler: 11:41am On Sep 16, 2023
It has been an age long, harmless practice for herders to graze farmlands after harvest. Until they started grazing fresh crops and all. But this now is taking it to a new worrisome level. Advising farmers to harvest early so herders can graze? If I’m a farmer I will clear the stalk after harvest and take it home and who wants to feed his cattle should come and buy. Or I’ll gather and burn it up after harvest. Let them come graze the ashes. This is annoying.

EducationRe: Kebbi School Has No New Mattresses Despite Receiving ₦5.6M by 18wheeler: 5:23am On Sep 12, 2023
And if you check well, the mattresses were either sold or directly moved to a private school where someone in the system has interest . Do a check you will discover a good number of private schools are owned by ex teachers or administrators of public schools. While ownership of schools isn’t bad in any way, you find out they deliberately put the public schools to rot while their personal institutions flourish through diversion of funds and materials.

FamilyRe: Why Do Marriage Of Uneducated Couples Last Longer Than The Educated Ones? by 18wheeler: 2:08pm On Sep 02, 2023
Self righteousness, entitlement mentality, gender equality, social media distractions, improved earnings of female gender, African traditional marriage institutions and the attempt by men to preserve it, women emancipation, covetousness, lack of trust and understanding, promiscuity hidden under work or business engagements and so on. These factors are more available to the educated fold than the uneducated ones. Only one is sufficient to destroy a marriage and we have most marriages influenced by two or more.

FamilyRe: How Do I Set Clearer Boundaries With Friends by 18wheeler: 8:21pm On Aug 26, 2023
First, identify what you want and how you go about getting it. You mentioned making money already, fine. Going to church does not give you money except if you will meet people there that you can connect and network with outside the church and towards making money. You need people to succeed in life but you need the right people. Cutting off relationships is only good when you don’t benefit from it. You use the right persons to get what
You want or where you want to be. So, sit down and analyze your friends and see who aligns with your ambition. If they will be relevant in what you want to achieve, swallow the disrespect and harness the opportunities in them for your benefit. Else, discard them. Discarding them shouldn’t require seeking advise from me or any one for that matter. You figure out how you do it yourself.
PoliticsRe: Gen. Murtala Backed Coup Against Gowon For Appointing Igbo Man NNPC DG - Clark by 18wheeler: 8:02pm On Aug 26, 2023
I noticed that between 1973 and 1974 when I was the Commissioner for Finance in the Mid-West under Ogbemudia, Col. Joe Garba once visited Benin City and he was quartered in our No. 2 VIP Guest House along Golf Road. I visited him one evening at the guest house and we had a very cordial discussion as to his responsibility as Brigade Commander in Dodan Barracks. It was then he told me how close he was to General Gowon. He and Joe Garba are Angas from Benue/Plateau State and was married to Victoria Zakari a trained nurse in 1969.

“During our discussion, the telephone rang and he took it, gave a salute and responded, “Yes sir.” The person at the other end conversed with Col. Garba in their native language and after the phone conversation, he sat down and informed me he was speaking to his big brother, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, the Head of State. It therefore came as a surprise when the announcement of the coup overthrowing Gen. Gowon’s government was made by Col. Garba (from Kanke Local Government of Plateau State), I almost melted. I was fully aware of grumbling among some Nigerians and a few open critics of Gen. Gowon, both military men and some politicians. I remember that after having a discussion with Gen. Yakubu Gowon on his misgivings concerning certain aspects of politics, he set up a committee to work out the details of how and when civilian administration should be reintroduced.
It may be irrelevant to the substance of the message, but Gen. Joe Garba and Gen. Gowon are not of the same tribe. Gowon is Angas from present day Kanke LGA while Garba is Tarok from Langtang. Either of them could have spoken the other’s dialect hence the conversation between them in one dialect or it could have been Hausa which I know both spoke fluently.

FamilyRe: What Do We Expect A 40 Year Old Man To Have Achieved In Nigeria? by 18wheeler: 12:24pm On Aug 13, 2023
Looking at what it took me to survive the last 6 years is an achievement in itself. I clocked 40 in between those years. Thank God I’m stable now and despite the delay in meeting my targets I have adjusted the timelines and really working towards achieving them in the next 2 years. Most are WIP at various stages. There’s no standard template for determining achievement in this dysfunctional society of ours. You see people fulfilling dreams in mid 30s and some struggling to death in their 60s to 70s with nothing to identify with. It’s reality of life.
HealthRe: 80's And 90's Kids: Which Of These Did You Battle With, As A Child? by 18wheeler: 12:33pm On Aug 12, 2023
Ringworm. We call it Makenkero in Hausa. Had it on the head. 2 circular hairless patches. You could notice it from a mile 😀🤣😀🤣. It was treated locally after several injections and ointments failed. There’s a wild creeping plant that brings out some green fluid that was used to rub the patches vigorously until my scalp peeled. When the fluid dried and the wound created healed, my scalp became normal.

RomanceRe: I'm Married But I Cant Stop Thinking About My Ex by 18wheeler: 6:53pm On Aug 08, 2023
Oga FOCUS on your marriage and channel your effort, both mental and physical, to building a stable family. I tell you the least thing you want now is the attraction or should I say distraction of an ex. It’s too risky if you want happiness for yourself and family. You sound like you do. The consequences of what you are thinking are dire. Best wishes.

DATA! Very little or nothing will be achieved without DATA! Accurate DATA!
How do they arrive at the number of farmers and their capacities and the area of their farming specialty? Who farms rice, or corn, or vegetables and so on? What land area is available to each? What input is required and how will the distribution, utilization of input be monitored? What season will each farmer be engaged?
So many questions that should be addressed before funds are committed, else the funds will just go down the drain.

FoodRe: How Much Will You Pay For This Food In Your Area ? by 18wheeler: 2:39pm On Jul 16, 2023
This will cost an average of 700 naira here in Maiduguri. There are locations you can get for less sha, like Tudu, Wulari and all those motor parks.
Rice and beans should be 500 bucks. That fish will cost 200 bucks.
FamilyRe: Who Are The Real Middle Class In Nigeria? by 18wheeler: 11:25am On Jul 16, 2023
The middle class in Nigeria has been depleted to the barest minimum, if you consider the number of workers able to afford decent living and still save. Most are burdened by debts they cannot pay and falling standard of living due to inflation, purchasing power depletion and income stagnation. So much for the imaginary middle class
